Forum Mafia - The Dark Tower Game Thread

Twilight totally ended 2 and 1/2 hours ago. I apparently never hit the post button.

It is now night time. Please have your night actions submitted by at least 1 hour prior to the start of day phase. Day begins at 5pm Eastern time tomorrow, July 13th

The gunslinger, Roland, leans back against the large mass of a fallen tree, rolling a cigarette as he contemplates the question. Some memories were too difficult, too painful, even centuries later. These raw young companions of Ka's will knew nothing and remembered not the faces of their fathers.

Roland sighed. Even the ka-mates of his youth, who were forged by the same training and fire as he, would not have asked about Susan. These newcomers to his world, drawn by the will of Ka, didn't have enough sense to know when silence was best. Still, it was his fault, after all, for singing a song to remind himself of days long relegated to the recesses of memory, a song about a pretty girl in the window.

"What you have to undearstand," the gunslinger began, looking his ka-tet in the eyes one by one around the fire, "is that the world had not yet moved on. I was young and the tower had not yet taken root in me. The seeds were not yet planted that would grow to define the will of Ka, fate if ye ken, in my life."

"It was my 14th Summer when my father sent me away from Gilead and the danger he sensed for me there. I had unexpectedly earned my guns years ahead of all expectation, even sooner than my own father before me, and so I was sent, a wet behind the ears gunslinger with my two best friends, yet apprentices, into Mejis to investigate whether talk of suppor there for The Good Man, John Farson, be true. Along the path into Hambry to introduce ourselves to the mayer, we happened upon the fairest young maiden I have ever seen, in the years before and in the long centuries since."

The gunslinger stops, memory taking hold of him for a few moments as the rest sit in silence, waiting for him to continue. He lights his hand rolled cigarette absently and stretches out, thinking on how to tell the tale.

"We were all instantly in love with her, of course. Despite the danger to our mission and the fact that she was the promised gilly to the mayor, we entered recklessly into an affair, throwing all sense and caution to the wind. It were wrong, and I knew it. Cuthbert and I nearly came to blows o'er it, but nothing could bring me to my sense. If it weren't for that wretched witch Rhea of the Coos and the cursed pink bend, Maerlyn's grapefruit, my Susan might accompany me yet."

Roland sighs, before muttering an expletive about Ka.

"The thing to ken is that the will of Ka is always served. In my bitter heart I have long considered how I might have kept it from happening, but despite all our plans and even the intervention of unexpected allies, Ka won out in th end. The deceitful witch and the despicable aunt of her's exposed our affair and in a frenzy the town declared me and my friends traitors, and Susan a traitor for helping us."

A look of agony passes across the gunslinger's face, as he seems to momentarily lose control of himself at the memory. "Hear me well, for Ka will be no kinder to you. Many days I spent trapped within the pink bend watching in horror as they burned her again and again as a Charyou Tree. A so-called traitor given up in sacrifice to gods who never existed to try and bring back prosperity that was passing out of a world already moving on. I loved her and she was killed for it, and Ka taught me the harshest lesson of all. Love must never come between me and the will of Ka. She is gone but I still remember her beautiful face in the window ... but more often I remember her screaming in agony as she burned, crying out that she loved me over and over until death took her."

As the gunslinger finished his tale, the silence of the night was broken only by the occasional crackle from the fire. Some questions are better left unasked, and some things better left unknown, say sorry.

Pyrotechnician has been killed. He was Susan Delgado. Affilliation: The White

Day 1 has begun: With 21 players left alive it takes 11 votes to lynch and 12 votes to lock. Day 1 will end in 48 hours on Monday at 5pm Eastern

Went canoeing so I'm catching up on what I missed.
I would agree VI's normally work against the town (except in certain cases - Laarz, I think you qualify here), but that is normally because their role demands it. Otherwise in the past other neutrals tend to try and work with the town. And heck, even Drixx tried to work with town on days he was not trying to get himself lynched.

Do you have other examples of non-VI nuetrals that really pulled one over on the town?
I don't but CG does apparently.
I once read a game where a Survivor made it to three man LYLO. He said - "I don't care who else wins. First person to vote the other and I'll follow."

It was an obvious mafia (and survivor) win.

That is probably how these things work.

I feel like there is neutrals from Drixx's post in the sign up thread made it clear that there were neutrals.

*double checked* never should have doubted you kestegs.

The town is called "The White"
The mafia is called "The Red"
The neutrals, if there are any, will know what they are called.
I didn't get that feeling of a neutral group. His sentence can easily apply to independent neutral players and that's how I read it. Did anyone else interpret it like kegs/BA?

Phillinicus: If you were forced to kill someone as of this post, who would it be?

No one as of yet seems suspicious to me, so it would most likely just be a random affair. Maybe someone who hasn't posted yet, since the last game I played there were like 6 lurkers which made the game pretty boring.

Don't make fun of my game and how useful Laarz the VI was.

That was like 10 years ago, maybe. I was talking about Ender's game where you TOTALLY BLEW IT NOOB

That was so funny, I think a few people were quite mad at my play but screw them I wasn't that into the game.

Hmmm, another wiffle-waffle answer.

But if I was a day-vig, I still think I'd shoot Bad Ash in the face.

Vote: Bad Ash

Don't paint my answer as wiffle-waffle. I answered honestly, I'm not going to accuse anyone of being scummy if I don't think they are.

Does this make CG scummy?

What for? I noticed you asked him a question, but wasn't sure why him. Also, was it something in his answer that stuck out to you?

I read a post of his that made me think he was scum. I asked him a question, and the way he answered it only reinforced that notion.

If CG wants to vote me because I didn't give him my scum list in a riddle guessing twilight game then whatevs.

I feel like a lot of people skipped out on posting during twilight, hopefully we get their thoughts soon. I feel like goryani has been quiet outside of "nope, don't see it" riddle remarks.

It was wiffle-waffle. I didn't ask you to accuse someone of being scum, I asked if you were forced to kill someone who would it be? You didn't answer my question directly, but danced around a bit. You gave what could be seen as an answer ("I'd shoot random or a lurker"), but don't offer any names. Your answer appeared to be taking an easy way out, not be responsible for a town kill, and not connect yourself to anyone. That's what I associate with scum play.

I wouldn't say so, no. I'm just not sure what he's trying to get at with these random questions. They're very peculiar. Although all I think he is trying to do is scum hunt but is over thinking acceptable answers.

Although this part of BA's post stuck out with me, in reply to CG asking him to name three names: "...I guess now that the riddle is solved, the world must move on."

I don't know what is meant by that. I would also like to hear something from the silent players, I don't like how people can just coast through the game largely silent.

You're diluting my answer even further. The main reason why town would want to kill someone is because they are scummy, so in me saying I don't find anyone particularly scummy it means that I don't see any particular person who would stand out as more of a candidate to be killed than any other. So, if I had just said "I don't see any particular person who I would kill than another" would that have been a good enough answer for you? I don't think so. You're just trying to pick out arbitrary things within my answer to paint me as wiffle-waffle, or "scummy" when I'm just telling you what I honestly believe. I'm not going to pick a name if I don't think any name deserves to be killed as of now.

Can you tell me which post made you suspicious? I went back and got nothing from his posts, as it just looked like he was trying to solve the riddle.

I was kind of hoping to see if someone else would see it too, but I guess not. It was these two (specifically the second, but you need the first for context) that made me suspicious.

Gunslinger may be early on his King's work, but he regards the opening line to The Gunslinger as the best line he's ever written. (P.S. I love The Dark Tower series and all of it's connections).

The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.

I have no idea why that is bold, but it's probably a scum tell
