Everyone go bot hunting

The bot is always a level 90ish paladin doing the same mf run where he do travincal and eldritch/schenk.

Their IA is quite poor and he won't come after you so they are easy to kill long-range. They also drop alot of gold :)

Just make sure a monster and not you is doing the fatal blow so he will lose experience.

Are they programmed to recover their corpse, restock potions and continue or does them dieing require manual intervention to get them started again? LOL, I hope the latter! :evil:
 
I've never done this but I'm gonna start. It sounds like a good use a time and a lot of fun. As for characters -
LinctheSink - Hammerdin
LincLighter - Pure Light Sorc

Both on USE Ladder
 
That's weird because yesterday i was trying to trade for something and at least half the games in the menu were bot games. Maybe are they afraid of you? :laugh:

No they will not recover their own corpse, until next game. They do restock potions. From what i have watched them do here is my best guess as to their routine.

Create Game > Ormus > Trav > Ormus > Trav > (not real sure if they go back to ormus here or not, or if its straight to act 5 and malah) Malah > Eldritch > Malah > Shenk > Malah > Pindle

Zalc, i noticed that at times yesterday that it did look like 50/50:bot games/reg games

Carefully observing the bot, huh? Should we expect some kind of bot hunting guide? :tongue:
Start off with an introduction, reason why you hunt bots, consequences,gains, what you feel the bot is using for items, and the best characters to take them down in a matter of 2-3 seconds before the bot leaves.

The last time they return to Kurast, they go directly to Act 5 without talking to Ormus; however, they will often make multiple trips back and forth between Travincal and Kurast, and when that happens, Ormus is always visited in between. I'm not sure whether the multiple trips are triggered by having lots of items to identify or whether it's based on the need for a break to heal / replenish mana.

I've never seen the Pindleskin branch of the script, because the bot is always dead before that happens. ;-)



 
Nor will you see it if hes not dead and he is still hostiled by another player. You cant enter the red portal when hostile, so if he is alive he just stands down there and hits on anya.
 
My highest level character right now is a lvl80 blizz/fireball sorc with pretty crappy gear... I tried killing funsed last night, but couldn't do it. The bot got stuck in a bunch of baskets on the way to the council, so I bombed on him for awhile, he kept potting, and eventually opened a TP and went back to town. :-(
I did get a Trang's armor off one of the council members though, so the trip wasn't worthless!
 
After i killed a bot today i thought why waste the game. Decided to run countess and summoner. She dropped a Ko, and got a pul from a minion on my way to summoner. Sadly no keys

how long does he stand there? this might be the best thing to do to slow up the bots.



 
Dammit...LOL....just got to Act 5 hel;l, lev 75 pally...I can't kill them quick enough yet at Frigid WP. Tried to have my merc help once, that was the only time bot threw hammers and attacked, I died. :)

Got a Sol rune and some crap unique knout, nothing great yet, no ears either. :(

I need to build my guy up more, then try and snag one. At least I am getting some good exp when I party with them, heh heh, levelled a couple times.
 
Yeah I don't know why the ears don't drop. Who knows. I've killed about a dozen or so the last 2 days. Its pretty fun. I go in, do a summoner run, go kill shenk and eldrich, kill the bot at the wp, then go to nih.
