Defiance aura and dual claw?

Defiance aura and dual claw?

I am using dual claw (Bartucs) with my lvl 53 assi. I will get a defiance merc and I have put 1 point into claw block. With + skills gear, it is currently lvl 9 for 49% chances of block. Question: Does the defiance merc increases the chances to claw block? or does it reduces the chances to get hit? or it doesn't help at all for dual claw?
 
Defiance will increase your defense, therefore reducing your chance to get hit....but it won't help weapon block :/

Ok so I have 49% chances to block and, say, 10% chances to get hit. Then, when a mob swings a hit to me there are 10% chances that the mob will not hit me. If it hits me there are 49% chances that I block. Thus, the chances that a mob swings to hit me and not causes actual damage are 49% + 10% = 59%. Is this correct?

No.

You multiply the odds: 0.10 * 0.49 = 0.049 or 4.9% chance to be hit.

And a 95.1% chance (1 - 0.049) to not get hit.

Defense is checked first though many attacks bypass defense. For those attacks which check defense, 10% will pass. Of those 10% of attack which pass, 49% will be blocked so roughly 5% total will hit. An additional benefit of weapon block is it's ability to block many magic and elemental attacks which cannot be blocked with shields. Though elemental and magic attacks bypass defense, 49% of them will be block by your claws.

There's always a minimum of 5% chance to get hit. :D And ofcourse the 95% chance to get hit limit.

Also , it's the other way around according to your calculations. 94.9% chance to get hit and 5.1% chance not to get hit.
 
This can't be. I assume that you mean (1-0.10)*(1-0.49) chances that the mob will hit me. That is 45% chances of been hit. Is that waht you meant?

the 5% chance to get hit only applies for defense. Here there is a 10% chance that the attack will get through his defense (which is above 5%) but afterwards there is a 50% chance that the attack that gets through the defense will be blocked by the skill so his 4 something % is very possible.

Oh yes you're right. I kind forgot it's not just defense we were talking about. :D
