Convention of Heroes

Yay, final test written and it went pretty good! So time for some action!

@nobo: Hrm... My Tal's armor makes up for it! :D
@corax: Noob! We already catched up! I am in act 4 and still need to kill diablo. I should make pat today. I will try to. :) Wow I am looking forward to it! When will we play? I have 2 weeks free after christmas... Also, will we play on christmas? I think it would be a bit insane, but some of you seem to want it... Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't probably find the time, because we will have visitors on christmas...
@Tarr: Welcome!

Wooosh!
Thats the sound i made when tele-rushing through most of hell today. After getting up to act 3 last night by myself, my fireball was just about enough to kill CI's fast enough not to die myself.
So, farm meph for a bit (no good drops though, but moved me up EXP wise) and then teleport through to izual, hell forge and then clear CS. Total time spent in act 4 hell: 30 mins
Act 5 i slowed a bit, clearing most of the above ground areas, teleporting through the ice caverns. Ancients were a breeze. static + blizz + no CI's = pwnage
WSK was slow though, since i decided to do full clears, to gain more EXP and not feel like cheating by skiping everything.
Gloams in lvl 2 and 3, OK's in 3 and throne of destruction, but my merc was brave and i was still whopping ***. Lister was CI, but i didnt want to reroll and do it all again, so i killed minions and then left merc to slowly kill lister (also stone skin..grrrr)
Baal was a kitten, my merc managed to leech most of his lost life back and only needed 2 rejuvs.
act 5 hell: 1 1/2 hours
So thats 2 hours (plus 30 mins break in between a4 and 5) to go from meph to matriarch.
Still gotta do cows and nilly but theres no rush.

Go post in the CoH mat/pat thread... :uhhuh: Congratulations!

I'm... still in the chaos sanctuary. I have tried it, but... but... I had to go, you know? I will try it again in a few mins, but throwing is my only weapon against IM and not very... mighty... :uhhuh:

Dunno. Not really, but... I can most probably say that I won't do it with this character.... Doh, I don't like it ANYmore... :-/

A long time ago...

In a world of pain and misery the forces of evil controlled the lands and had the power over the world. They oppressed the good people and send their beasts throughout the countries. Only a few brave fighters were able to withstand the might of the evil. Fighters that have developed a serious strength over a long time to slay the minions of destruction and to guard the world the rest of their life!

...

HOWEVER, I am no good writer... :teeth:

Convention of Heroes

The idea came up in Kefir-Tribe's pat thread. He has build a character most suitable for sp p8 hell baal runs. He wants to get a char to lvl 99. I mentioned that I had the same thought in my head all the time, but that I didn't really dare. I had the idea that we could build a party... Well, not exactly something overwhelming new, D2Addict has done it in 1.09, too. But it isn't meant to be new. Regardless of how long it would take and howmuch times slower than in 1.09 it would be, the fire burns in all of us! :D You might say "LOL dis is no possibla in any way!1", but my idea is another: I am not heading for lvl 99 actually, just for the highest I can get! farting_bob has already told us that he would love to participate in this. For now a problem is that Kefir-Tribe is on dial-up... We will have to see if it works...

However, if you want to participate, post here! I would like to build up a party for endless mping to reach the really high levels and maybe become a legend in some time!

This thread is meant to be the platform for any discussion about this. We need to clarify some things first. Who will use which build? This will be pretty dependant on how much of you will participate, but I think the first rule should be that everyone has a character that is fun for HIM and that he wants to play for a long time. After that we can think about how we equip our characters and such for best party collaboration.

But before I am diving into the deep discussion, let me first know your thoughts!
the low life nor the high strength should be a problem if we continue to play in party (bo, casters deal the main damage...). but if you don't like your build anymore (or won't play it anymore), you should probably play another char (an existing one of course). our kill-speed won't be that fast without conviction, but i'm sure we can reach L95+ (motivation: kefir  )

Ok, I'm now pat and it pisses me off. I won't make it with this character...

make a new one. or i could make it for you if you really dont want to play something else through. although you'll have to supply the end game gear

how about a venomancer? he has lower res to make up for conviction. can do dmg on his own and stops monster life regen

Im sure if you started a new character we could quickly get you up to pat again, since you can host the games we can get you through to hell in no time. It seems pointless doing the game twice by yourself when you can get through it quickly and safely the second time round. What kind of builds do you think you will enjoy and still be able to do hell baal solo?

Hey!

I had quite a bad conscience about what you would say, but you are so nice! I do not give up! It's just that it is no fun for me anymore, eh... The low life or something isn't the problem. I can't do baalruns on my own (p8). At the beginning I really wanted to be the support paladin, but I always had in mind to be able to kill alone. I chose this unique build, which is certainly cool and I am pleased that I have played it, but it obviously lacks killing power. And without killing power, I don't only support you, but I need also YOUR support! ^^ Because we probably can't MP all the time and I can't do it on my own, I will probably always be the one with the lowest level and only slowly progressing, what would demotivate me. Then I wouldn't have fun and fun was the first priority!
Some of you said it and the german convictor guide said it, too: This build ISN'T a killing machine in high player games. But I just didn't listen and driven by the hope that I could manage it with my crushing blow, I just kept playing until I realized that it ISN'T a killing machine in high player games. DAMN. Crushing blow IS awesome though... However, I wanted to be cool and unique and whatnot again, but this build is nothing I would like to play for a long time, though it was fun to Pat! Quite sad that this happens just with ME, because the conv is quite 'essential' for the group... Forgive me! This may sound cheeky, but maybe another one could build an avenger or something like that, if you don't want to lose conv... :-/

Another build... A Venomancer would be cool. I have one in act 2 norm, although he's a poison/summoning hybrid... I will have to think about it... I am quite unsure, eh, not that this happens again!

You want a killing machine reborn. something that can kill alone P8 with relative speed. a Venomancer would be a good choice, put you'll need a backup skill. now the poison skills take up 60 points, so really you want a secnd option with no more than 1 synergy. How about a revive/poison hybrid. that would be good, and will still leave you enough points to have good LR, along with a point in other curses, bone armor, SR, and soem in CE. 20 revives being meatshileds sounds like fun to me. Just gotta pick your revives carefully and make sure you dont suddenly run out of them.

I've been following this thread and just wanted to add. The other option for the venomancer is to make use of the Marrowwalk synergy and use Bone spirit/spear, Whichever you prefer.

edit: Just remembered, Achmel the cursed is Poison and Magic Immune, so you will need to lower resist or have a merc to kill him.

Hmm. I don't have marrowwalks and I don't accept freebies! :P If the venomancer is a killing machine, then it would be too cool. As I said, I have a venomancer in act 2 norm, but it uses skeletons, too. It was discussed here: http://www.rpgforums.net/showthread.php?t=273401
I dunno if this is good, too. I could just take him then, but I dunno if the skeletons eat to many points that would be better spent in LR... But in general a Venomancer would be cool, I think, because PN is the coolest spell of the poison/bone tree and I LOVE to smash everything with AD + CE.

Yeah, that was my intention. Read the thread! :D With + skills I get -55% to enemy's poison resistance + the -25% of trang ouls wing + the -5% of my poison facet. Makes -85% to enemy's poison resistance. Enough? At least not for piercing immunities, but that's what my skeletons are for (I hope they can kill the 4th wave fast enough). Is it enough for non immunes then? I also get +25% poison skill damage of trang ouls claws + 3% of the facet = +28% to poison skill damage...

If you have max raise skele, then some in mastery, and you'll have the curses (amp/decrep both prereqs for LR) the skeles will kill in hell, but not very fast. Just make sure that you have everything in place, then add points to mastery, as it does the least improvement (less than a point in raise skele)

Hmm... still unsure if it will be enough. But if I would go for poison + revives, I would not have a real second damage type! :xx:

Hey!

Since I will get -85% to enemy's poison resistance from equipment in the end and a slvl 1 lowerresist with my +skills will give me -55%, I will be at -140%. W00t that's enough for piercing immunities! Also my build was planned for clvl 90 max! Because we will level further than 90, I can dumb those skill points in LR, if needed (it seems like I won't need it, but maybe you). So, I have maxed poison skills with good +skills and good -% to enemy's resistance. So it would be ok to skill skeletons, too and I could just take this build? Seems cool to me and it would somehow make up for the loss of conviction, like corax said. :) And I am better with this one? I mean, will I be able to do solo p8 runs with relative ease, concerning killing speed? Omg, this sounds so noobish, but for this project we NEED uber damaging cheesies (it seems that I didn't notice that at first)...

Edit: Poop! I read the text again and I noticed that I already factored in LR... :uhhuh: Ok, so -85% enemy's poison resistance altogether. Not enough for piercing immunities, but is it enough for fighting non-PI's? My skeletons should kill the PI's then... I could still put the skill points above 90 in LR... Will this be good? Then I will take the char, I think. Just tell me if it ownz. I don't want that fizzling again. I need to do solo runs, too...

LR has dimishing returns after 5 points. Most of the PI monster are not very dangerous and are eaisly handled by a merc. However, you must have all the synergies maxed and + skills items for it to be effective which doesn't leave much room for a secondary killing skill (I selected CE). I am playing one right now untwinked in the TWD II tourney so it is possible. Don't forget about adding some points to Dex for Blackbog's (+4 Pnova) or skip the added dex and try to buy a wand like this:

Noxious Grave Wand
One-Hand Damage: 13 to 29
Durability: 15 of 15
Required Strength: 25
Required Level: 30
Staff Class - Normal Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 69
Fingerprint: 0xa1d52d5e
+2 to Poison Nova (Necromancer Only)
150% Damage to Undead
+2 to Poison and Bone Skills (Necromancer Only)

I have already put points into skeleton. But if it isn't good, I can start a new one, as he is only lvl 20, like I said. But where to put points then? Also, I am quite unsure if this one is able to kill at a reasonable speed on p8. Look at the gear I can come up with in the thread (http://www.rpgforums.net/showthread.php?t=273401). I have no such expensive things like death's web. I can get PN to lvl 29 with that equip with -85% enemy's poison resistance (with LR). I only have the gloves, shield and armor of the trang ouls set, so I am codemned to use all those to get the -25% EPR. I really dunno about this...
