Lost...Very good first series, but imo they had JUST enough material left for a second season, but a third! Pfft, now it's just, well kind of crappy. IF they had concluded the series after a first series that was about 1.5 * as long as it was it would have been great. Now it's become like some drama, doomed to continue for probably 4+ seasons.

How about...24? Good show, now they have a reason to bring out new series because it's one new massive plot every series, great to watch together because it's all exciting and the action just keeps rolling...

Oh man. In my opinion Six Feet Under just got better and better with every episode then the ending was the greatest and most tradgic. That series goes down as one of my favourite shows, based on the amazing writing, casting and acting.

So. What kind of music is everyone into? What consistently finds it's way into your mp3 player?

For me, it's a lot of stuff:

Dream Theater
Tool
Rush
Symphony X
Metallica (Black Album and earlier)
Faith No More
Iron Maiden
Pearl Jam
Blind Guardian
Demons & Wizards
Rage Against The Machine

and much more, but this is generally what I listen to.

I've had a few people tell me that I would like Queensryche, but haven't had a chance to listen to them. What else do you guys think I would like, going by the above list? Obviously, I'm into Progressive Music.

Symphony X
Metallica (Black Album and earlier)
Faith No More
Iron Maiden
Rage Against The Machine

I like these.
This week I bought:

All That Remains - This Darkened Heart (saw them a long time ago, never bought this one)
Bad Brains - Live
Chimaira - s/t
Rage Against The Machine - Evil Empire (not sure why I never owned a copy)
Yngwie Malmsteen - Trilogy (should've owned a copy of this earlier though I have a burned copy)
Yngwie Malmsteen - Unleash The Fury (same as last)
one other I can't remember atm

As for music, I like a lot of classic rock (Beatles, Zepplin), thrash/power metal(Malmsteen, Manowar, Sodom), death metal(Death, Deicide, Dismember), black metal(Burzum, Gorgoroth, Mayhem), grindcore(Napalm Death, Nasum, TCME), and a lot of guitar intensive music, though most progressive rock/metal (rush, dream theater) I dislike because although Dream Theater are a very skilled band, they don't write music to the caliber of their technical capabilities, and I just hate Rush, period (long story). I like some classic punk (The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Crucifix) and some newer (NY bands, Turbo ACs, Two Man Advantage, Murphy's Law), and some hardcore (stuff that crosses into punk like Bad Brains, and the other end like The Acacia Strain). I also listen to classical music, though playing guitar has left my violin unused for some time (used to play a lot).

One thing that I just HATE is the Harsh vocals in Metal bands. I should also mention that I like Power Metal/Speed Metal quite a bit, couple already on my list, Blind Guardian, Demons & Wizards. Also Iced Earth, Dragonforce. Any others along these lines that I should take a listen to?

And I do somewhat agree with you that Dream Theater doesn't play to their full potential. I still think they are a fantastic band in spite of that.

Dream Theater incorporate a lot of complex musical techniques into their music and pull them off flawlessly, but their music often lacks interest to me other than the technical work, and I don't like their vocalist much either (there are many better clean vocalists).
Dragonforce play extremely fast and technical speed metal and execute it flawlessly. Just kidding, they play fast and simple music with little or no technique and cover up the endless mistakes with irritating effects. The fast playing and effects cover up the mistakes and poor technical proficiency, and their music is extremely boring, even for power metal. There are a lot more bands of the same genre who make much better music than Dragonforce and it seems they get attention for having the gimmick of a fast playing asian guitarist.
What bands have great sounding music and astounding technique? Not very many, the few that come to mind include Atheist, Cynic, and Death.

As for my criticism of technicality, playing guitar for a few years now, listening to extreme metal for nearly ten years now, and working a job that involves a lot of audio equipment, between these I've developed a very strong understanding of the music I listen to and the production also. I truly appreciate good production in music, and I hate bad production, especially for good music. The Red Hot Chili Peppers make great music, and at the same time have some of the worst production out there. There's not a second of sound on Californication where one track or another isn't clipping. Some unusual suspects have some of the best production, notably Three 6 Mafia's Da Unbreakables (2001?) and Morbid Angel's Altars of Madness (1989). These days a lot of idiots turn up the master track volume until the sound waves clip, and then some more, which is part of the idiotic loudness wars. Music shouldn't be made to be as loud as possible coming off the medium, it should be perfectly produced and able to be played at any volume.

Yes, that Diablo 2 question in the off-topic thread definately makes a good followup of Zodi's in-depth analysis of several bands and their productions.
If there was a Ladder reset, you would find threads with epic poems, glorifying the reset. If you are unsure of your searching capabilities, perhaps you could just ask it outside the offtopic thread. :)
Though such a thread would only lead to reset speculations and I think Dacar would not have such things. Remember that Dacar's spirit still haunts these premisis. The rules he set forth, still apply.
Such a question might even be better asked in a pm to me or one of the mods.

Zodi - All that remains? Isn't that a fair bit different than some of the other bands you listed? I was under the impression that they were kind of hardcore/screamo...

As for what I listen to, most of you will probably hate it, but it's just a phase I'm in where I like screamo/hardcore/metalcore so:

Parkway Drive (Australian)
Atreyu
Alexisonfire
I killed the prom queen (Australian)
Underoath
As I lay Dying
Bullet for my Valentine
Avenged Sevenfold

Anyone else heard/like these bands?

This is all i have to say.

ZEITGEIST 7.7.07

On July Seventh, Two thousand seven, it will be released.

After 7 Years.

Smashing Pumpkins are back <3

Theory in practice
Death / Chuck Schuldiner was a great song writer.
Dissection
Emperor
Carcass
Nasum
Angmar
Athiest
Spastic ink / Ron Jarzombek
Belphegor

Are a few of the bands ive been listening to for a while , went from lisening to Metallica's S&M album then Slayers Decade of agression six years ago and eventually proggressed to more technical and heavy music.

I have heard some of those bands. I am only partial to that kind of music. An old friend of mine though has a band that he is the singer for, and falls right into your category.

Inked in Blood

Their myspace looks pretty cool, but atm im on a pc with no sound card so i'll have a listen some other time. just a funny thing, that music, probably the same with inked in blood, has screamers, not singers ^_^
