Baldur's Gate Mafia Game

Well okay then! I wish I didn't find out we lost in public due to the rage that ensued but ya know...

Good game! A little stacked though :P

I realllllyyyy wanna read that dead thread. Also, my night time conversations with people were fun!

Can we get your conversations? We talked about killing you last night and keeping Bad Ash alive but decided against it.

Best post of the game

Thanks for hosting Solar Ice!

This game definitely deserves an award but I'm not yet sure what type. I didn't think it was possible for a mafia to play so obviously scum and still win. I'm just speechless how Sathoris was COMPLETELY IGNORED the day after my lynch.

The number of mafia seem off because two townies were modkilled. There is no way to balance that.

Quick thoughts on the game

1. I do not think the numbers (mafia to town) were that imbalanced - compare to Cheers game - 4+1 recruited mafia one team 3 on the other total (7+1) in a 23 person game vs. 7 in a 22 player game. The big problem was the two modkills which made it 7 in a 20 player game and luck (mafia had no double ups on kills, there were no doc saves and no mafia crossfire). Of course the other big difference between the two games was that the cheers game had a block of 5 town masons and 4 cops and I had the only ability in the mafia team of a RB that didn't work :). I think a 2 mafia team game is always going to be very difficult to balance.

2. Themed games should be tougher on mafia then other games, because not only do you need a roleclaim you also need a character name and you can get destroyed by a coroner (see what happened in the Jerome game). Fortunately in this game the mass role claim was done poorly by the town.

3. I was on a team with Pharphis but didn't get to bus him. :(

thanks for the game SI. I don't think I will signup for any others for the time being as I can't really put the effort into it that these games need.

Haha yeah. Had to get you lynched for vendetta purposes but it made me look scummy like hell. After that and nothing happened I didn't watch out that much. Even made some little innuendos to BA thinking he was part of the other mafia team and he knew stuff he and I couldn't say. Had loads of fun defending Jason and watching the rest call him scum for it.

But I'm still frustrated you didn't give your save targets BA.

I have to admit I did not follow the game at all, but I had an idea of what was going on behind it.

First off, congratulations to the winners. I'm sure that you deserve it.

Second, congratulations on your first game, Solar Ice. I can see that you have great potential and I'll be looking forward to actually playing a game hosted by you rather than helping with it. I have to admit that most of the work was done by Solar Ice, all I did was just make sure everything was OK.

As I keep saying, there's no way to predict what's going to happen in a mafia game before it starts, all that a host can do is prepare as much as possible. And from the looks of the documentation I've received, everything looked great. Good job once again, Solar Ice.

I think the key factor that decided the outcome was the two scum teams never hit each other. When that happens, the town need to be very accurate in their lynching, or some other factor needs to come into play (cop, doc, bus driver etc.). Losing the two townies cost us a day, but if we didn't, and I'd ended up next on the chopping block, as seemed likely, the result would have been the same. The town always needs the non-town factions to be at each other's throats to have a chance, in my view.

Thanks for running the game Solar! It was fun to play and fun to watch. Especially fun to read the stories.

Anyways, it is really to bad the mod kills had to happen - if only Ankeli had gone too, it might have made it a much easier game for the town.

In conclusion: mafia, why you no kill each other EVER?!?

I concur with Gwaihir's conclusion.

I must say I enjoyed the game though, although I lost interest in the end since I had been dead for so long. My only regret is I didn't get to fully utilize my role, but at the same time leading the charge on getting phar lynched was so worth it.

Great game solar.

Also, bpc, you failed me, but thats ok, you'll get them next time.

Couple of other things:

I was one of 2 vanilla townies. Lol. I guess you can't get the fun role every time, right?

Roles that seemed amazing and would love to see again:
Shapeshifter - seems like it would be a ton of fun to play
Advocate - really hard to use, but if claimed and confirmed town could be very powerful
Gladiator - seems like it would be a ton of fun to use, although situationally very difficult.

Also, hugely hilarious that one of the main reasons I voted phar after kegs was I thought they were teammates. Oops.
