Baldur's Gate Mafia Game

The last time I ran a forum game I used a series of playing cards. Assigned everyone one of the cards, had my wife shuffle out of my sight and listed the roles alphabetically. Then I turned over a card and whoever the card belonged to go the roles from top to bottom. I suppose randomizer.org might have been easier lol.

This is great!

So I should keep rerolling it on random.org until you get it right gwaihir?

I am ok with this.

How much you want to bet next game I get the following PM:
Gladiator: You must challenge a target within the first 24 hours of every day. It will clear votes, and only votes can be cast for you or for your target will count. If you succeed, you die at the end of the day anyways unless saved by a doctor.
Win condition: Survivor.

And all he has to say is "You asked for it."

But your method is so much cooler!

*Quickly changes role description and resends to TC*

Well, you didn't really ask for it before, but since thats the way you want it, sure. Its a shame doctors can only save at night.

Thanks for your thoughts and comments, everyone.

Thanks for hosting Solar Ice!

This game definitely deserves an award but I'm not yet sure what type. I didn't think it was possible for a mafia to play so obviously scum and still win. I'm just speechless how Sathoris was COMPLETELY IGNORED the day after my lynch.

The number of mafia seem off because two townies were modkilled. There is no way to balance that.

I was also a bit puzzled by the lack of reaction by the Town to Sath after your lynch. I thought that your case was pretty close to rock solid without a downright guilty result. But then there was also an innocent "result" on Sath the Day after you were lynched, iirc. But then again, there was no "Sath case" discussion prior to the "result" in any case. :ponder:

Haha yeah. Had to get you lynched for vendetta purposes but it made me look scummy like hell.

To be completely honest, I do not see why or how you could have a vendetta in the first place, for the simple reason that Goryani was Mafia in the game he Vigi-killed you, while you were Town. That fact alone immediately removes any sort of justification, imho.

What would have happened if both mafias targeted the dragon?

They would have both been immune to any death during N2, of both targeted the Dragon. Similar to if both Mafia killed the same player, they would have both gotten the flip.

Also, always good to know who kills you - I am watching you dj :evil2:.

I am too :p

It is really difficult to analyse new players. My opinion is that they should make good investigative targets, especially for alignment.

I will play again.

Good to hear! Once one starts playing one can't leave!

Edit: nvm, death flip reveal was at of day, wasn't it?

Indeed it was.

Agreed. I was actually trying to figure out when the gladiator role would be best used. The real problem is that making it a choice between two people is usually not the best option for either town or mafia.

Town: Maybe paired with an investigator as a mason? So if the investigator finds something really bad, the gladiator can kinda force the town to follow up without revealing masons or the investigator?

Mafia: Real tricky here. The best use I can think of is to protect a power role for a day. If there are 2 people on your team that may be up for lynch, say the glad and a 1-shot recruiter, or a roleblocker, or maybe even a strongman when you just figured out a doc. You challenge another person to prevent them taking out a really good power role.

Town can use it to get rid of a scummy player, or to put a spanner in the works of any seemingly Mafia-conducted train, provided that the Gladiator has enough Town cred.

Mafia can in addition use it as a powerful bussing tool or for WIFOM purposes, should the Gladiator be lynched.

This is what the SK would have looked like had I gone with one Scum team and decided to include a SK:

Rijiek Hidesman, Serial Killer, Anti-Town

You are the vicious tanner responsible for the murders of several citizens of Baldur's Gate. You have a penchant for skinning the victims after you kill them and take their skins to use as hide to make armor for sale to the highest bidder.

Night Kill: Each Night you may target a player for a Night Kill.

Armor of Human Skin (1 Shot): You may choose to wear one of your foul created armors instead of submitting a a Night Kill. if you do, you will be immune to any effects that will cause you to be targeted by an ability. Once worn, this armor can not be used again.

Important notes:

- Armor of Human Skin is an activated ability, not passive. One shot use only.

Good game Solar, even if I got played big time by Sath. He must have thought all his Christmases had come at once when I declared him innocent.

By the by, who's up next?

The thing that is funny is as a God Father, he assumed you actually got an innocent result on him.

Town: why not just trust the town to lynch the correct target if you don't have any other info? If you have a solid read, might work out well, but if you are wrong, you have a real good shot at getting 2 townies lynched. A very interesting role, but I don't see it being as powerful in town hands.

Mafia: So apparently phar needs it next. I can see that being useful.

Maybe now...
