Baldur's Gate Mafia Game

Few other comments after reading mafia:
Wow people really liked investigating Sath. Had a nice hiding role though.
Would have been interesting if FOE had not been blocked on the Sath kill, might have given town a chance
What would have happened if both mafias targeted the dragon?

Also, always good to know who kills you - I am watching you dj :evil2:.

Fun game! So, djmbbandie, Jcakes, pharphis, and Sathoris were all on the same mafia team? Did y'all even lose one of your 'friends'?
Enjoyed the stories and the roles, Solar Ice!
To those who doubted me: I told you there were two scum factions and more scum than normal! BUAaHAHAHA!

phar got lynched D1.

Can't say I really followed what you were saying most of the time though :P

Thanks for the game, good work :)

It feels unbalanced looking at it, but I don't believe it was that far off. 2 mod kills is brutal, and no mafia crossfire is also tough.

Good game. Stories were great. No experience talking, but the game didn't feel all that unbalanced. The two mod kills were bad and the day we lynched Goryani was a bad one as well since I offed another townie. Not having a double up on the NK also hurt. If we'd had a few more town at the end, I see it could have gone town way. Hindsight being 20/20, I kinda see what coju was aiming at. Being annoying enough for one of the mafias to kill him then still be able to vote.

I will play again.

The mod kills were horrible for the town, but its just a game so no reason to get all beat up about it. Near the end of the game only two people from the town were really playing, and that hurt the most. Scum did a good job of killing off the helpful people.

Oh and it would have been nice for the town vig to discuss the target a bit, or if cdm had just shot kegs d1. The dead thread cringed on the coju kill. I wanted to question you when you stated that you wanted to kill scum, well why not d1? I then put together a random theory where the mafia team hatched a plan to have you do that in the day time for town cred, and you just missed. And that is usually where I get myself lynched.

PS: Kudos to mafia for winning and for randoming N1 kills. That shows class :)

Cdm's vig thing would be good for D1 if there wasn't the double vote to secure on kegs.

But damn, if he was killed I DOUBT I would be locked. Soo screw you cdm :p

Edit: nvm, death flip reveal was at of day, wasn't it?

Best post of the game

"Alright then, since noodle seems to be afraid of killing people...

kill: Drixx"
-Kestegs

Poor Kestegs... how could he have known? I found that part hilarious as well.

Also, it really was a well put together game. You can see in the dead thread some of us were following it quite closely. I felt so bad for JM and Bad Ash.

Sathoris didn't even seem to be trying to hide that he was scum by that point. The tells were so obvious even I (who often find myself confused late game) was all over them.

Yea, that was slightly ironic :p

Sorry I killed you, drixx. I read your twilight posts over when I was looking for an excuse to have targeted you and I felt bad since you said you were excited because you really liked BG.

Thta is actually an interesting point. I don't think lore was brought up at all during the game. Was trying to figure out why, and I came up with 2 options.

1) Majority of people don't know it. I don't, and therefore couldn't really comment on names claimed or factions. I wikied a bit, but it was no overly helpful.
2) Dragonhunt and early mafia lynch- gave us something else to talk about early in the game.

Speaking of Dragonhunt, it was a brilliant idea. Turns out I was right in that if we did not get it right, mafia could profit if town did not. Great addition to the twilight phase. Even more surprising that the town was so effective with it.

The roles in this game were great. I really would have liked to see the gladiator role used. Very well modded game. I guess it all comes down to randomness of the kills and mod kills.

Agreed. I was actually trying to figure out when the gladiator role would be best used. The real problem is that making it a choice between two people is usually not the best option for either town or mafia.

Town: Maybe paired with an investigator as a mason? So if the investigator finds something really bad, the gladiator can kinda force the town to follow up without revealing masons or the investigator?

Mafia: Real tricky here. The best use I can think of is to protect a power role for a day. If there are 2 people on your team that may be up for lynch, say the glad and a 1-shot recruiter, or a roleblocker, or maybe even a strongman when you just figured out a doc. You challenge another person to prevent them taking out a really good power role.

I think a good addition would be to give the gladiator a power if he wins the match.
Town: 1-shot NK immune, vig shot, or bodyguard power?
mafia: 1-shot lynch immune, 1-shot NK immune, or roleblock power?

That would give it much more incentive to be used.

Very cool thoughts there Gwaihir. I might steal them and adapt them to a role I'm developing for a game hopefully I"ll be allowed to host :)

The last time I ran a forum game I used a series of playing cards. Assigned everyone one of the cards, had my wife shuffle out of my sight and listed the roles alphabetically. Then I turned over a card and whoever the card belonged to go the roles from top to bottom. I suppose randomizer.org might have been easier lol.
