Atmas or Highlords

Which would add up to more damage on a pure Stafer? Would 5% chance to cast amp out perform the 33% Deadly strike I get(lvl90)?
 
one thing to keep same in mind, critical strike and deadly strike don't stack and they both can't go off on the same hit... this means that the 33% deadly strike is in effect a lot less than that. (1-cs%)*33% to be exact. so if your critical strike is at 50%, you're really only getting 16.5% ds from highlords. however, i still feel that the highlord's is better for a strafer because of the ias and + skill. i just think amp doesn't go off enough while strafing to be effective.
an easy way i find to avoid the debate altogether though is to throw a reaper's toll on an act 2 merc. he'll be setting off decrep like there's no tomorrow, eliminating the need for amp altogether.
 
Funny you ask this since I recently changed from highlords to atmas.

Big plus of highlords is of course the +1 to skills, CS and huge lightning res. If that is something you are missing stick with the ammy.

However, just for fun I changed to atmas two days ago and actually noticed a significant difference. It seems like my killing speed has really gone up, especially with diablo and baal. I vote for atmas :thumbsup:
Btw, It also seems as though the amp casts more often on strafe than multi.

I know my post has nothing to do with a zon using a atma/highlords but i have a zealot that uses a atmas and i also notice i kill alot of things faster with a atmas compared to a highlords. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

I vote highlords as well. Reason is +1 skill, good resist but most of all atmas gives a curse, and my dracu gloves do too! I like 50% ll ;)

As you can see it kind of depends on your build as well.
One thing I should add about atmas: 20% bonus to AR is something highlord's does not have - an increadible feature if you ask me.

And then the +skill of highlord's is the benefit really that great? I mean does your damage for example really get boosted? The answer is no.

Amp and 20% AR is enough reason to ditch highlords.
seriously how much damage can a +1skill serve a difference??
also the deadly strike mod can easily get from other items lke gore rider, Guillaume's Face

my multizon use a atmas and she can gun everything down except those pesky immutes faster than a M61A1 chain gun.
 
well.. i think it is waht you prefer you self.

try both ammys and keep the one you like.

imo: if 20 ias not needed, go with atmas.. amp just owns everything
 
I tried Atmas and I'm hooked. My zon is an MF diablo runner and amp just seems to shorten the run. Cant keep a merc alive so all my damage has to come from special mods on items.

Current setup:
Giant Skull ( crushing blow/Um and 21max damage jewel)
Atmas(amp)
Call to arms bow ( low damage but BO and Prevent monster heal makes up for it)
COH (200ed deamons/100ed Undead)
Laying of hands
Raven spirel (still looking for a legit dual leecher)
Crafted blood belt (10% open wounds)
Raven frost
Gore riders(open wounds,deadly strike, crushing blow)
 
Keep in mind that the +1 to all skills boosts your Dodge/Avoid/Evade, your Penetrate, your Pierce, your Critical Strike etc. It isn't just another level in whatever attack-skill you're using.
In other words, Highlord's wrath Does give 10%+ to attack rating (since every level in penetrate gives as much.) It Does increase your chances to hit more than one enemy with a missile weapon -- roughly by the same % as AMP on Atma's has to trigger.
Further more, Atma's scarab can override your necro-pal's curses, and be annoying in general.
I'd have to say I like Highlord's wrath much better.
