Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

When I try to open up 1 of my chars in atma it says it might be corrupted and asks if i want to continue loading. If I press yes or no atma displays the error message cant load C:\Program Files\Atma\Atma V\atma_gfx\xxx.dc6
It only happens to 1 of my characters, and it worked fine before with this character.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Do you have the latest version of ATMA? Did you download the 1.13 version from the front page? If not then it probably is one of the new quest tokens that is not able to load in your character. Install the ATMA version from the first page and it should solve your problem. This is Thy's own version that she updated and is using so it should work 100% for 1.13.

Thanks =) it worked.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

A real life friend of mine was the one that recently convinced me to come back to Diablo 2 single player, we occasionally play together, but we are mostly solitary single player characters.

My friend gave me a couple relatively insignificant items (Ume's, a couple Trang's pieces, Shako) when I started a Fishymancer which I later found out were duped (via ATMA) by my friend. Now, I have no "moral" qualms about this, since I don't plan on getting into any kind of TCP/IP trading with other SP characters besides my real life friend.

My question is, are these items safe to use? From my days playing on Bnet in the past, the common belief (whether it's true or not) is that dupes will eventually disappear. Is it the same for Single Player ATMA dupes? Will they behave differently in any way? What about duped runes in Runewords?

Thanks for any help, and I hope it's OK to talk about dupes here (though not the specific method involved).

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

No they won't disappear.

As you correctly stated; you may not mp/trade here though. :)

Okay in order to help we need to know which one you are trying to use, ATMA or GoMule. Also which OS, mac or windows, are you using and version, win7/vista or xp if windows.

If you are trying to use ATMA yes you install the program. For GoMule you do not need to install anything other than maybe the java runtime. Note that if you are using classic, ie non expansion, then you need to use ATMA. If you have a mac you are basically limited to GoMule, unless you want to mess with emulating windows on your mac. Make sure that you use the links in the first post to download, the other links might not have the most up to date version.

Open the program, ATMA or GoMule, and then using the program open your character files (.d2s). From there you can either transfer items between your characters or you create/open a stash (.d2x) file that you can use to hold your items. It is basically the same thought as a windows application and transferring folders and files.

I know the guide for both are a bit antiquated and need to be redone. Thy approached the users in this thread a while back about making a guide for either or both. I do not know about the progress of a guide or if anyone besides myself that volunteered to look into it. I have not had the chance to do it with work and college in the way. Let us have a little more info and we will be in a better position to help.

well i am using an laptop with windows 7 and i play with expansion
but about the ATMA i basically just make a stash on ATMA at through that programm i acces my character and put the stuff from my character to an "ATMA stash" and through ATMA i get my stuff back to my character?

That is basically the idea, yes. You can also transfer items from one character to another without using a stash as a go between as well. Think of ATMA stashes as a shared stash for all your characters and the program itself as a way to use that shared stash and as a trade window for trading between your characters.

The only problem you may encounter is with windows 7. See if your saves are in

C: \Program Files (x86)\Diablo 2\save

If they are, then you may be able to move items from them with ATMA no problem. However, starting with Windows vista, Microsoft decided to change their policy on what may change the files in the 'program files' folder. You may find your saves in a different folder. Look here and see if you have any saves files, .d2s, in there. You will have to enable hidden files/folders though. If they are in this folder these are your actual saves not the ones that are in the above folder.

C: \users\user_name\virtual store\Program Files (x86)\Diablo 2\save

I do not have windows 7 handy at the moment since my laptop decided to crash on me, but that is where I remember finding my saves when I did play on the laptop. Do yourself a favor and do not just copy and paste from the window. Actually go through explorer and move from folder to folder in case I made a mistake in typing the folder structure. Good luck and if you have any troubles come back here and I will try to help.

I'm a little unsure about your question so I'm going to list two possibilities that I believe your question is asking.

Change the extension to .zip instead of .7z and you should be able to open it. Once the file is open copy the ATMA V folder to your Program Files (x86) folder or anywhere you want to keep it. From there open up ATMA.exe and you should be all set.

If you are talking about saving the changes you made then click on the save icon in the toolbar and that should remove the asterisk from the name that indicates they are unsaved from the last change. My motto is to keep ATMA closed when Diablo 2 is open and vice-verse to keep from having files overwritten by one or the other while I play.

The link in the front page does not need to be installed after all. I looked into it and it was apparently already installed by Thyiad and she just copied the folder into a zip file so we do not have to update. Just be sure to get the 1.13c version. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

It's probably having trouble locating and/or loading the character file.

If you're using Windows 7 or Vista, they have some weird new thing they do with the my documents or something that messes a lot of people up.

Can you access the file directly? Is your Java runtime up-to-date? Anything else weird or unusual that might be related?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

im actually running it on a mac..i tried deleting the character and reloading it, no luck. any ideas? also thanks for taking the time

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

ddkknoll, do you have an error message (such as a java exception) in "Messages" tab?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

These files come from JRE, not GoMule. So maybe you need to check your Java environment. GoMule requires Sun Java 1.4 minimum. Java 1.5/1.6 is recommanded.
You can get the latest JRE from Oracle.

To check which version you have installed, in a console, type:
Code:
java -version

If you would not mind listing the whole error message and not just the last part. The reason I ask is that it might be an item that is causing the error. GoMule is very picky about the items it loads. Since you already have a backup copy from deleting and reloading. Try dropping an item in game and see if GoMule loads the character.

Another check is if you are running expansion GoMule does not like classic. Are you time traveling or did you trade with anyone recently that might have? GoMule does not like jewels from prior to 1.10. Some items might not want to load in GoMule either if from a previous patch to 1.10. Do you have the latest version of GoMule? Get the version from the front page if you have not and try that.

Do you have another computer running windows or can emulate it on your mac? If you can try loading the character in ATMA and see if it loads. If it loads try muling off an item at a time instead of dropping them in the game. ATMA is less picky about the items it loads. Hope this helps.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

@sylecn- i havent touched a thing, ive been back on d2 for about a week and it has worked fine so i cant imagine it being any verions of anything. also please be more specific, i traveled to the webpage you posted and was unable to navigate myself any further. im sorry if that is a tedious task but d2 software has always been a weakpoint of mine, and if it is too much i will understand.

@ladvarian- i have done no trading with anyone recently so that we can rule out, i cant run atma bc i dont have a computer with windows near me and as far as the error goes, i'd be happy to. just remembered- the only thing i have done since im back was level a few characters which wouldnt cuase any problems. i did however download the new version and do some mf with a sorc. maybe this caused a problem, something with the new version of D2 and the old version of everything else. thanks for the time.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Please dismiss my last reply. The complete error message tells another story.

From what you said, you probably are running an old version of GoMule.
You need to download the GoMule from the 1st post of this help thread for d2 1.13 patch.
