Ancient Druid returning to game

Re: Ancient Druid returning to game

Ladder or Non? If non, I'll hook you up with some stuff

Re: Ancient Druid returning to game

shael thul and lem just happen to make one of the most useful armors in the game---> treachery! That armor should really give you a boost!

i agree
this adds ias, resist, dr, and damage from venom. (dr = dmg reduce. it is vital in hell. and each point in fade gives a hidden 1% damage reduction)

if you would rather cb over ds/low open wounds from gores you could use the unique and insanely cheap goblin toes for 25% cb on them alone, add 10% on gloves and you got a decent ammount right there.

dunno what items existed back when you played or if you already know this stuff but hope i helped :D

keep in mind pgems can craft your whole character, collect them and trade away :)

Re: Ancient Druid returning to game

Right now I am still trying to find a 3 socket armor worthy of Treachery. :dontknow:

Also currently looking for an "io" rune and a 2 socket circlet. Basically, until I can get at least one other decent weapon on my Barb, I am tabling him for now. Having entirely too much fun on my Poison Necro and Wind Druid (synergies + AOE spells = win).

One last (slightly unrelated) thing. I am finding that most of the people who hang out in the trade channels (as opposed to the forums here on diii.net) have completely unreasonable expectations on the value of their items. This has been the case for as long as I can remember, but the degree to which they are skewing their offers now is quite ludicrous (example: some guy wanting 10 pgems --amethysts and rubies only-- for his "io").

Re: Ancient Druid returning to game

Don't worry about armor quality for treachery. It doesn't multiply defence, so any 3 socket armor will do. Go for style points, or just stick it in any 3s gray mage plate.

I am semi-retired from trading and playing in Lord of Destruction, but I still have all of these items on ladder. I can give you for very cheap and some for nothing.

Re: Ancient Druid returning to game

That would be sweet!

So, looking at your thread... I would like buy:

Lacerator Winged Axe 207%ed [8]
Vipermagi 20 res 9mdr [5]

And as mentioned earlier, an io rune and a 2 open socket circlet would be nice. I looked through and only found one 3os armor, but it was a heavy plate and I'm looking for something a bit lighter.

I tried adding you to my friends list, but it gives me an error message. Your *damric account is on uswest ladder?

Edit: No longer need the "io."

I'll send you those items for free later. Check your inbox tomorrow for a private message with mule account information.

Indeed my account on US West is also damric. And amazingly enough, my classic account is classic_damric. I been playing classic mostly because it's so much more challenging.

For future reference:

Please do trading in the respective forums or via PM please.

I blame Damric for leading me astray with his materialistic whiles of all things shiny and magical. :whistling:

Anyways, I have begun doing "Pit runs" on my barb. I have around 200 mf at the moment, and between the super chest on level 2, the smattering of champions and bosses, and item finding every corpse I can, I have gotten approximately 0 items of value. Ah how I miss the days of endless Mephisto hunting...

On a more topical note (with respect to this forum anyway) as I mentioned earlier I have started work on a Wind Druid. My only qualm is: WTF am I supposed to do until I hit level 24?! I'm level 17 and have spent a whopping 7 skill points in total. Two in elemental and five in summoning. My auto-attack finger is developing carpel tunnel. Time to get fatty to rush me to Baal I guess.

Edit: Reading Fenris' a la Mepersoner's (holy crap- another name I remember! He and I used to be thick as thieves, is he still around?) Wind Druid awesome guide of awesomeness. I would strikeout the sections of the previous paragraph, but I can't find the strikeout command.

I could only imagine the hate and discontent I would spread here if I was giving you my high end 3s ethereal tombreaver that I am not currently using...

Hate and discontent? In the druid forums? This I refuse to believe.

To be honest I don't even know what I'd do with anything high end. At this point I am just having fun fooling around in the low-mid level arenas of play.

Re: Ancient Druid returning to game

Nice try wolf friend ;P

Sorry bro, but the Bear inside of him knows better than to use that nubsauce wolven weapon.. we use BeaReavers all the way ^.^

Re: Ancient Druid returning to game

Actually, tbh, I used a 6 socket phase blade with Shael and ED/IAS jewels.

P.S.- Damric, you are my favorite person of the year.

Edit: Holy crap man. I posted that PS before checking the account. Most of these items didn't even exist last time I played. Wow, I don't even know what to do with half of this stuff. Thanks. A bunch.
Brb epi pen.

Re: Ancient Druid returning to game

You're welcome. Items are one thing, but the knowledge that people like Verashiden, Jary, xPumaFangx, Kiba, and many of the other freaks with the furry avatars on here is worth much more. I never made any good druids until reading the material here about all the tricky little breakpoints and such.

Re: Ancient Druid returning to game

Vouch
I used to be a part of the dark side (paladins) until I read what some of the veterans of the druid grove had to offer and after receiving their knowledge and trying it out I was reborn a druid through and through..

Re: Ancient Druid returning to game

Haha! Oh man, I remember the intense vitriol that existed between the Paladins and Druids back in the day. Good times.

I want to thank Damric and Fattymcgee again. Due entirely to their efforts, my Throwbarb has been relieved from his (brief) stint of retirement. Kudos to you gentlemen.

So now that I've managed to conquer the Quill Rats and Fallen (and there was much rejoicing), I've set my sets on bigger game, namely the long term planning of my character. I've been reading a lot of guides and strategies lately, and I'm ashamed to say some of these have belonged to sites other than DIII.net.

Separating the fact from the fiction has become quite a challenge, and I cannot help but feel a twinge of skepticism when I read things like, "My barb's base throw damage is 6k, but when I use demon limb it goes to over 10k." I may very well be putting on my dunce hat after the conclusion of this ordeal, but near as I can tell level 23 enchant does not add 4,000 damage...

On a related note, I am trying to decide between Chains of Honor and Fortitude. I did a number of searches on this forum and the definitive answer I received from all the threads stated quite indubitably that there is in fact no definitive answer. I was hoping the members of this forum would be willing to share their own anecdotal accounts. At presents my resists are (+) 12 across the board, and I am more interested in upping my damage than my survivability. Obviously this gives a fairly good indication of which way I am leaning, but it is not an easy choice.

Thank you all for your help and advice.

P.S.- Leveling a Wind Druid before level 24 still sucks. News at eleven.

Re: Ancient Druid returning to game

It all depends on the other items you are using. I tend to go with surive over damage. But if that means that my damage will be too low. Then Ill beef up damage.

I was a paladin player as well. I didnt fit in with all the temple people and all the dueling rules they make up. Then I was a barb player and I got bord with barbs. Werewolves kinda stuck with me. I think its how I pick my items. I think that the items I really like work the best with werewolves over other classes or builds. That and the people are just so dam nice here.

Well ya I know of one guide that we have thats from another lamer site. I think the only resson why it got stickyed with the other guides was because liquid evil just added it with them when he made that tread. I really dont see any real resson why it should be in there, bowwolf ha. That table I did on wirlwind breakpoints got stickyed to another site as well. It was because one of my dumb friends stickyed it there. Even after readding that I clearly wrote "Its for only purediablo.com forumrooms only..." I complained to a few mods and they told me that that site and ours worked out a deal. I relized that I didnt have any real power in that situation so I left it at that.

Not only that but you don't have to deal with the umpteenth million help my hammerdin thread.

Re: Ancient Druid returning to game

Heh, I can't tell you how weird it is to come back and see Trapsins and Hammerdins pushing the envelope in PvM.
