account closed !?

Re: account closed !?

I just checked all my 5 accounts, and none of them are banned. I've been on the same account with 3 different keys on 3 different chars, and on seperate accounts with different keys all at the same time. This was all done on the same computer with all 3 copies running on different users using the fast user switch method. There maye be other methods not involving a 3rd party program (virtual machine as suggested by MakeLoveNotDupe), however I'm unfamiliar with such methods. Anyway I've never used a 3pp and I'm not banned. So they cause for bans is not that you where online with more than 1 account at the same time, but you used a loader/some other program or in some way modified the game files.

I can't confirm if there is a limit to how many games you can have on battle.net at the same time on the same IP, since I can only get 4 copies by borrowing one from a friend, and as it is now I'm only able to get on with 3 at the same time. But I've heard rumors about 4 connections on the same IP is the limit.

Re: account closed !?

My last words on this:

I do not think I 'cheated' at all. All I wanted was a simple way to load 2 pairs of legitimately bought CD keys without having to use that stupid windows fast user switch and without having to use another computer. I've done it before on other games like World of Warcraft and EQ and found good programs for both. If D2loader duplicated items, used a map hack, or made it so that I could play multiple characters with just 1 CD key and/or had any past history of getting people banned, I wouldn't have used it. If Patch 1.12 made it so that in addition to not requiring the CD to play that you could run multiple instances of Diablo 2 even though it requires multiple installations (which I tried) I wouldn't have used it. I believe there is nothing wrong with using a program that fixes something Blizzard should have fixed themselves but were too lazy to and ultimately they ruined this game for me. I only hope they correctly address the technical problems on Diablo 2 in 3, otherwise they're not going to get this hard-working, honest player. If they're going to be that stupid and strict than Warcraft 3 users should delete their ping checkers and ban lists immediately. If you still think I'm a cheater that's your opinion, it certainly isn't mine.

Re: account closed !?

Whoa, quite big news!

So, maybe there is still hope for some additional Ruststorm? :) Make hay while the sun shines

Re: account closed !?

same here I`ve sent a message to Blizzard and they responded that not even my account has been closed, my CD-key is banned as well....

...it`s now time to quit playing for me after wasted so much time to collect all those stuff...bye bye

...and what u think about that today is the release date of World of Warcraft`s new expansion....why WoW accounts have not been closed...this stinks THEY WANT ME, YOU, US TO PLAY THAT GOD DAMNED GAME....NOW I THINKING OF IT THAT I WILL PLAY ANOTHER BLIZZARD GAME EVER.....

Re: account closed !?

Several ladders ago, I lost something when trying to self-mule using a single account/cd-key. And then it happened again...and again. So I bought a second game copy and installed it on another computer. At long last, no more lost items...well, except when I got lazy and would try to self-mule on a single computer. I read up on the various alternatives to running multiple copies on a single computer...VMware, fast-user-switching, d2loader. I tried VMware, but never could get that one to work. I found out my computer didn't support fast-user-switching. I even figured out a way to use a remote-desktop package to connect to my second computer, but that was really inefficient. In the end, I opted for the most efficient method available. A method that seems safe today may not be safe tomorrow. A lot of people assumed d2loader was safe and had not previously led to any sort of ban. Fast-user-switching and VMware may be considered "safe" today, but who knows about tomorrow? VMware and XP could be considered 3rd party since they are not made by Blizzard.

One of the posts I found interesting said that those that lost accounts can treat this like a personal ladder reset. Starting over is part of the fun, right? Even if you never used d2loader personally, your mule account may have been used with d2loader if you used it for a mule trade on these forums. Think about that next time you do a mule trade. For me, it's back to multiple computer self-muling for a while...better safe than sorry.

Re: account closed !?

I hex-edited the d2gfx.dll to open 2 windows of diablo 2. I think I should be safe too then since modding is allowed? I can't wait anymore lol to get home and check :P

edit: nvm, just read that someone got banned from that. :S *crosses my fingers*

Hi! [Sorry about editing your post (Quote)]
Some of my closest friends used a same method and got banned (8)...
I wouldn't recommend it :(

(8) This account was detected using a third-party program (hack) with one of our games on Battle.net. This account is now permanently banned
Any third-party program that is designed to affect the way the user interacts with Battle.net is considered a hack program. This includes seemingly harmless third-party utilities that work with the game to provide functions that were not included by the game designers. While many of these utilities might not have been created to disrupt the balance of the game, they alter the original design of the program. The detection of any such program by Battle.net may result in the closure of the user's account or even the temporary or permanent banning of the associated CD-Key.

Re: account closed !?

Sounds like the banned will have 30 days off then they can play again?

(from Battle.net front page)

The Diablo II CD keys associated with the closed Diablo II accounts are now restricted from playing on Battle.net for approximately 30 days. Repeat offenders will have their accounts closed and their CD keys permanently banned from Battle.net.

Re: account closed !?

well thats just not true since there was a LOT of players on bnet last night that were restarting after being hit with the banstick. I doubt they all had backup CD-keys.

An Account / Accounts (8): Permanently Banned
Your CD-Key is Disabled (First Time): Temporarily Banned (I think 30 days...)
Your CD-Key is Disabled (Second Time): Permanently Banned

Re: account closed !?

Me and my friends are just fine! but we never used any third part programs at all:) i sure hope that ALL pickit users is banned and gets their pc's taken away from them! >.<

Ouch!

This probably explains a big portion of the bans. Personally I muletraded a lot the last couple of months and knowing this my ban becomes a whole lot more logical.

Makes you wonder if muletrading should be prohibited on this forum as you can never really know what the other trader is doing with the mule. Same goes for rushing services.

Re: account closed !?

VMware and XP could be considered 3rd party since they are not made by Blizzard.

If that becomes reality Blizzard would have to create their own OS for us to play their games then? I really can't imagine that happening. It's ok to ban users who have been registered using hacks, though some may be caught in the fire. But banning an OS from being used with a game is just being paranoid, and I doubt Blizzard will ever go that far.

Muletrade should be done on a newly created account and char, and in which case the account will be closed and the person who's CD key was used with such programs will get banned, while you should not be affected since you havn't used any programs with your key, and the mule should not be in use anymore.

As for lvl service, this is a whole other story. I never thought about it before this mass ban tbh. I was in a lvl service, but can say with 100% confidence I never used any hacks.

Re: account closed !?

Let me re-iterate some salient points for those not understanding:

- WE DON"T CARE if all you were doing was muling...

- It's still CHEATING, we don't do it and get along w/o cheating, so should you.

- SO WHAT if you can't effectively mule in D2, that doesn't give you some moral high ground to CHEAT, yes CHEAT...

- Again, WE DON"T CARE if you leave. We're better off with a smaller population that doesn't cheat.

- We realize that there are indeed nice guys just muling... (need I go on with this?)

Sorry for the tough love, but that's the game.
