So, after an 18mth hiatus, I had the urge for a bit more D2. I reopened my saves and GoMUle files, to discover I hadn't copied any of my stashes over, and had left all my treasures on my old work laptop which went back to work and was wiped.

So, the only thing I could do was start running again. First Trav run dropped an Ist, and a random pack in CS dropped this little beauty (the first I've ever had):

Definitely Charsi. Barbarians don't get nearly as much from +skills as they do from max damage. It's also a fairly slow base, with no attack speed. Sorry dude :/

The "problem" with rare weapons is that Oath isn't very expensive, and is very very strong. Grief is even stronger. In theory, it's possible to out-damage Grief with a rare, but I don't think I've ever seen a weapon that actually does. You would need 540%+ ED (from sockets), eth, repairs, fool's mod, etc. And that's just to beat the price of a Lo rune.

In general, physical damage dealers get a lot more bonus from max damage, because ED multiplies *after* max damage is added. So you get something like this: (base damage+max damage)*ED = damage output (basically). +1 skills doesn't give much ED, but adding something like 40 max damage from a fool's mod weapon, and multiplying it by 500 ED all of a sudden is 200 extra damage.
