A Breath of Fresh Air ... A New Item Find Thread

Check out Liquid Evil's Earth Shifter Druid build or @PhineasB guide. I've actually done two the First Jack followed Liquid Evil's build and the second Lock went with an upped Ribcracker and lowered the synergies for Armageddon.
Exactly. I went Angelic Combo for AR thus omitting the HoW. 11 in Fury, 1 Werewolf and 20 Armageddon, 20 Volcano, 6 Fissure, 20 Molten Boulder, 20 Firestorm.

Dropped Griswold's caddy in AT last night, never found that one before. Turns out I already have his hat sitting in gomule, just need to find the shield now (seems like I've found that quite a few times in the past) and figure out a Paladin build. Maybe some kind of PDR zealer to make interesting use of all the sockets. Any suggestions?

Charge and zeal along with might? It would suit the set graphics decently, and you really put the PDR defense to the test charging right into the madness.

That sounds like a great idea. I might try that with the Griswold paladin I just started earlier this month. It shouldn't be too hard to farm a few Sol runes. You won't mind if I steal your build and claim it as my own, will you @intersilva?

Not that difficult to get over 100. Filling the 8 sockets with Sol gives you 56. If you find a ammy with perfect Life everlasting that's another 25. A single Nature's Peace gets you to 91. You can also get up to another 17 Crafting Safety Gloves, Belt and Boots.

@drmalawi Not many people have 8 Ber runes sitting around to play with. :ROFLMAO: A Ber rune grants 8% Damage reduction which means a waste of at least 1 rune since %damage reduction is capped at 50%.

Last but not least, we are talking about a PDR build and that takes Sol runes.

When is it most likely that you die of physical damage? When amped/decreped right? Remember, %DR works as a resistance. So, just as you would overcap your elemental resistances a bit just in case you get lower resist curse on you, or convicted - overcapping your %DR is helpful too. Also we now have sunder charm bone break in D2R.

I know you are "talking" (you are writing) about PDR build. I just mean that I think 8 Ber runes is better (not taking into account that Ber runes are muuuuuch more rare than Sol). 8x8 + 15% from SoE/dungo = 79% physical resistance. When amped your physical resistance is -21% meaning you take 21% more damage.

When is it most likely that you will die with a melee char? 20 small hits or 2 big hits?

Steal away! I surely can't be the first to think of stacking that set up with Sol's....
No, the set is much praised for that option. SSOG:s abbot guide, which is worth mentioning because it deals with PDR building in general, is one example. You should do fine with that set, I only found the armour with my only paladin guardian but even that was a great asset. 🫡

I think the zeal/charge combination has been called a Pulverizer at some time and place, by the way. Might be some thread about it even if it's not very common.

Intriguing question. For me it would probably be the 20, or 10 for most of my characters, small hits. The reason is that those are more likely to come as a surprise and catch me off guard than the fewer and harder ones from more powerful monsters. I'll most likely die to a swarm of very fast hitters or a barrage of missiles of some kind, especially with a paladin who can if necessary smite most enemies into perpetual hit recovery if needed (looking at you, Hephasto and so on...) but lacks an easy way to handle many at once.

I've yet to die in hell - not looking forward to that - but in nightmare the most recent culprits I recall were careless neglecting of de Seis' pack and tomb viper clouds.

Mercs, even if they are not totally comparable, have fallen to many-hit infidel rushes, Act boss mismanagement on my part, Act bosses, ancients 🤬, tainted packs, skeletal mage/archer packs and older things I don't recall.

I think roughly half of those are PDR situations and half are %DR situations, when it comes to what kind of gear would have been the best defense. Though above all, constant attention and vigilance of course.

Sol runes work at double efficiency (minimum) when amped, since %DR is calculated after straight DR. If you have 50DR and is hit for 100 damage, you take 50. If you have 50% DR, you still take 50. However, when amped, you would take 150 damage with (now) -50% DR, but still only 50 damage with 50 straight DR.

The situation where %DR really shines is when monsters have damage auras, or extra strong enchantment. A good example would be Pindleskin, which when spawning with Might aura gets that as a synergy for his Charge attack. Extra Strong Might Pindleskin can even crit, and dish out thousands of damage. 50DR will pale in comparison to 50% DR when this happens.

Some of the gear the Ancients can spawn with is also pretty nuts. Especially if Korlic gets Cruel on his CV in hell. I don't think their gear can spawn ethereal, but I don't know for sure.

Back on topic:

My current LK map is something else. Not optimal in terms of teleporting, but quite good. However, one of the racks has Sacred Targes if I TK it as soon as I see it, and no monsters are nearby, which is at least half the time. Gave me two 45@ white ones in an hour the other day, 127 and 137 defense. Also a Mal rune in that hour, and then this:

Guess I'll be looking into a use for it soon.

I post with great trepidation that the RNG will think I'm boasting. An interesting evening so far in Hell Act 1. So far I've found a Lum and a Fal. Now just clearing the Dark Woods and I've now found a Gul
