Morn...er, afternoon, all. Wasn't able to get onto the site reliably earlier today.
Updated: wathombe's runeword spreadsheet
I'll post a Weekly Update in the stat forum if I have time to put one together before the end of the day.
Re: cow runs and other cooperative playing: I agree with everyone advocating group cow runs. According to Urlik's exhaustive rune-finding guide, the best place for sheer numbers of high runes is hell cows with 8 players in the game. I'm not quite high enough to participate yet (clvl 77 Tesladin), but I know there are several posters quite capable (Dawns_Requiem, Zephyrus, Cheetah, psyadam, to name a few on West). I see that InsaneFarmer has stepped up for East, so all we need are 7 other participants (or as close as we can manage).
Re: random 3-socket testing grids: I say again that we can more easily test the majority of the 2-socket grids than even a small portion of the 3-socket grids, but I'm fine with adding a few 3-socket grids to the spreadsheet. I also say again that we should find the most likely constant rune(s) in the most likely item type(s) so as to focus our tests. I have already pointed out that Shael-blank-blank in swords would be a good place to start, given a large enough supply of Shaels. I would encourage everybody to check out InsaneFarmer's positional analysis (here) to look for other like constant rune/item-type combos. The only other two constant positions I see are El second in melee weapons and Amn first in weapons. Let me know if anyone else sees any other worthwhile patterns, and whether the team thinks I should build grids for Shael, El, Amn, or any combination thereof.
Dawns_Requiem: Understood. We don't expect you to give up your main acct number.
But next time you build a classic rusher, build it on a separate acct!
Sokar: Good clue in "Elune." I hope to build the Warcraft clue page this week. I will appreciate you double-checking me for anything I miss, if you can.
Sarge: Welcome, and thanks for the tests! (Logged, posted.)
Ghist: Aren't you the guy with the great Baal runs? Thanks for helping out!
bigmac: Unfortunately, if I put the spreadsheet link in my sig, it would push out the quote from my beloved and departed anthropology professor, so I am afraid I must decline. I post the link once or twice a day, though, and you can always find it on the Weekly Update thread.
Basic: Thanks for joining! Be sure you dl the spreadsheet, though (link above), and double-check the tested grids before you test. Both of those combinations had already been tested (although ElIth had only been tested in a normal shield, not a pally shield). Let me know if you have any questions about reading the test grids.
That's all for now. Watch for the Weekly Update thread if I get it done. :cheesy:
