23 Runeword Search Thread

FWIW - I tried NefSol in a mace and gemmed mace. It's either wrong - or actually flail specific.
Dan

Arreat Summit's runeword page states that the "mace" tag includes maces, morning stars, flails, and exceptional and elite versions.

Go away for a day and when I get back I see math has run rampant on this thread. G'luck deciphering Kenny's number clues.

I won't update the testing grids as not much has gone on. If anyone wants them posted on the forum just send out a request and I'll put them up.

Another 1.07 runeword just got tested on the other thread.

Morning, all.

For those playing at home, here's an updated spreadsheet:

Ash:

Thanks for the support! Yes, bourbon, please!

Psy:

They erased the original bonus round thread entirely b/c of the spammer, so you might want to go repost your answer. He's disqualifying anyone who guesses more than once, though, so pick your best one (or log on as multiple users). We won't get any confirmation/denial of any answers until tomorrow, I would guess.

As for what the numbers might mean:

As psy pointed out, there are 5008882546 possible answers in that range.
As we factored last night, 5008882546 / 23 = 217777502
Does that number help us any? Maybe an r21 r07 r05 r02 recipe (PulTalEthEld)?
Is there any point in figuring out the base-23 number for that range (which would end in lots of zeros, or at least one zero, right)?

Just spitballing here.

isnt hoto flail only? so that could be wrong, try it in a flail

I guessed 46 because:

4,928,409,291 + 80,473,254 + 1(for zero) = 5008882546

1. that number ends in 46.

2. The factors of this number are 2 * 23 * 108888751.
(2*23 = 46)

3. If you add up the numbers in the large prime 108888751 you get 46.

I don't know about you but that seems to be a pretty strong argument :).

Oh ya and 2 people have already guessed 23. ;) Perhaps if the answer really does turn out to be 46 it means they added 23 new runewords?

on a hunch I brought some bourbon and a paper bag filled with glue, I guess you can have the bourbon...

Much obliged. Glue might impair my rune-finding abilities a bit more than bourbon. Just a bit.

To answer your original question, we continue to throw around theories furiously and test possible recipes systematically, but no fruit to our labors as of yet. I'm sure there will be threads all over every forum if we (or anyone else) discover anything.

Thanks again for the support.

-4,928,409,291 + 80,473,254 = 5008882546

Maybe I am a tad confused, but isn't negative 4,928,409,291 + 80,473,254 = 4,847,936,037?

The mistake is adding rather then subtracting. Perhas that new number will have some relevance? (Maybe prime with the exception of 23?)

*My brain hurts*.

The idea is that the number that represents the range of possible correct responses is the number of significanse. I highly suspect that the number may be 46 because of the number of things I mentioned in my previous post.
