1.11 Release Notes

I found this in a quick 1.11 game.. I'm guessing this could be an ATMA related display error, but most likely not, since ATMA doesn't seem to care that the char I'm using (I backed it up prior to the update) is running 1.11, it still reads it as 1.10.

I think the problem there is just that ATMA hasn't been updated to include version 1.1 in its figurings. Give Tenshi a little time to put out a new version (like, more than two or three hours, at least) and I think that particular problem will be fixed.

As for there being no visible changes to skills or anything like that, I have to say I'm a little disappointed. I haven't analyzed each and every patch from the release of the original game to now, so let me know if I'm wrong, but I think this is the only patch in D2 history that hasn't enhanced some skills and nerfed others.

Method, yikes, you're brave using Atma already.

Atma doesn't know anything about 1.11. At best, they have changed the save file format very little (possibly barely at all) and Atma can still understand most things in there. However, it should still be considered "use at own risk". I expect the Doc will say something about it shortly. It may take a few weeks for the new format (if it changed) to be unravelled and a new reader written.

Actually, if anyone wants to send me a save file from the new patch (ie, started as a new char inside 1.11) I can start poking around. Don't have the actual game here at work but a binary editor will reveal much :)
Don't want any items on there, just the stuff you start with will be cool, so I can compare it to a known 1.10 equivalent.

You got mail.

On ATMA - Well, someone had to test it didnt they? No apparent changes, and as I said, I've backed the char up anyway. Loads/Saves working fine between D2 and ATMA so far with no problems.

Here's hoping that you can possibly gather a fair bit of info on what's actually going on with the new patch by later today.

First point - a new patch should fix everything regardless of whether the bug was SP or not, just because they already fixed it online doesn't mean we should be missing out because we choose not to play with all the dupers and hackers that infest cattle.net

Second point - Why in blue-hell would they release two separate patches when it's not only easier to just have one, but also more convenient to distribute it anyway just by having the player update through accessing the realms.
I was talking about the huge server crunch going on to download the newest patch. Are patches compounded, like each patch has everything included up to it? Or do they just include the new things being patched? My point was that some of the things wrong in SP were fixed already on bnet, so why would it be fixed again in a newer patch? Again, i am really looking at file size here.

Although it sounds like the FE bug was fixed, so who knows? Maybe we just completely got screwed.

Thanks for saying that, I would expect Doc to take a good week to get anything together as far as knowing whats going on with ATMA.

Just a hunch but I think you'll find the Runewords in the files just altered a bit for the new runewords. I can't access .mpq files since I am not sure how to but I think if the files don't have the runewords Bnet will also not have the runewords. The files (updates) should be the same when a new downloaded patch is introduced. serverside patches should be included since new players have to load those patches as well, to join Bnet.

good luck and happy hunting Thrugg

If the older "new" RWs don't work I don't think the new ones will either.

To the best of my ability, I can't see a difference yet between 1.10 and 1.11 save files. Which is probably good news for the Doc albeit slghtly disappointing news for us (as it describes the small magnitude of the changes they made).

The new runes.txt has been unravelled on a few sites, it has a new "server" flag in it, which means they almost certainly do have new runewords that are server-only (couldn't happen previously).

I must admit I am becoming increasingly disappointed with this new patch, despite great optimism initially.

I realise the whole thing with ATMA is likely a display error due to it not knowing exactly what's going on, but neither ATMA or the game seem to care so far.

As far as the runewords, since they've released new ones, and know how much people strive to be the first to find them, if they were released anywhere but serverside then everyone would know within minutes of playing with the files. In the case of the post-1.10 additional runewords, I wouldn't be so sure if we haven't been totally shafted on that score, but alas, I also cant open mpq files, nor can I make head or tail of the runes.txt even if I could.

Thrugg - No probs, if you want any of the other classes, holler back and I'll throw you a full set.

well, my dual-elemental druid, built in accordance with Uzziahs (sp?) guide, is now officially a FUBAR-crippled windy druid. indeed, some issues have been fixed :-)

cheers

Yup, seems we *can* also get all the Realm/Ladder only runewords, but it *STILL* requires a modified runes.txt to do so, as there's apparently a new "Server" flag or so in the file.

Removing the flags on those words that are "Server" marked allows their use under SP.

Or so RTB said at "another place".

Thanks Thrugg! Got it downloaded, now what to do with it? :p
