1.07 News, Info and Gossip

How do you get your barb to actually hold the biggest sword as the main weapon? Does he have to meet both str and dex req from his base stats?

Also, that rogue really dies fast. Warcries DID work on her at lower levels, but they're not anymore. No idea about why that happens.
 
for running council: max or close to max res + a few mdr (tal's armor is great) goes a LONG way for survival. That, and having a council map where you jump through 1-2 windows and leave your merc outside to shoot at them will make it so she rarely dies.

If you're running something else, rogue may not be the best choice, though I've found it works *ok* for cows since as a barb you only take on one pack at a time. This may not work as well with WW as it does with frenzy, due to additional movement.

As for gear I don't know. I just have enough base stats. You won't need THAT much life :p
 
My trav Barb uses GF+BK, shako, skullders (MF and massive mdr), strings, LoH and war travs. He has no issues surviving. With LoH you kill them super fast. Just make sure you have leech and mdr.

Edit. I don't bother with Merc, they die to easily to council. You don't need em anyway ;)
 
LoH + BK set bonus gives a stupid high bonus damage to demons, so as I haven't racked GF yet, I'm going with the set. But whatever I do, however I equip, the actual toon holds the biggest sword in his left hand, which seem to not be used for berserk nor ww.

Barb survives just fine, don't need leech either, as rejuvs are free. Don't know if merc would really speed anything up, this is players1 after all...
 
Cubed res rings with pretty much all my chipped/flawed/normal emeralds (~250), topazes (~300) and sapphires(~500). Wasn't as digilant as @WoRG at picking up everything...

5 sets (all Cathans - kept one with 34% light res, the others were crap)

When referring to hands I was referring to the inventory screen. I don't know how that maps to the in-game appearance. Never really thought about it.

If HC, you'll want the 8k life or at least super stacked lite res, cold res and MDR. Otherwise, in SC you can probably handle dying every 4k runs due to a nasty mixture with only 5k life or so.
 
I have less than 3k life and haven't died yet. Wearing LoH, BK set, Tal armor, 40frw/mf/mana boots, mavina belt, raven frost, some crap rare ring (must change that, used it for ML but noticed something about my belt...) highlords (miss the DS..) and shako ptopaz. Switch is dual gull. Inventory is tomes, cube, 8x empty space, rest damage charms.

I wouldn't do that in HC though. Just lvl 77 at the moment, damn that's gotta be a lot of runs to get to 99....
 
15k runs from 85, +/- a few hundred.

My barb didn't have any mdr iirc but there were a few instances where I took 5kdmg / second from MSLECE w/ conviction and (sometimes) PI (toorc, ofc). Absolutely nasty combination. I did have stacked lite and cold res, though and 8k life.
 
LCS doesn't display the effect of conviction correctly, does it? There's some MDR on the tal armor, but other than that, I don't have much.
 
Yeah XP is very weighted to act 4 and 5. I got more from mephisto than council however. Have 2.8k life and no deaths. Leech with ungodly damage makes you immortal. WW and single weapon skills don't use the off hand weapon in 1.07. So I suppose that could be helpful, though I like hitting with both BK and GF.

Conviction doesn't display right. They didn't fix that until 1.10.
 
My problem is I don't get to choose which wepon is the offhand one. No matter which order I place them in, I don't get the CB from the big sword, I get the poison from the small one. Don't know what I'm doing wrong, as there should be just four ways to equip them, right?
 
Barb questions

Is AR a problem in 1.07 like it is in 1.13? Should I keep this visionary crown I found? (1% bonus to attack rating per clvl)

Someone mentioned picking up magic barb hats. I assume thats for +6 bo hats and getting 3 sockets from larzuk? Then socket it with something fun?

BK weapon and grandfather are Best in slot right? Both are colossus blade base right?

AR doesn't seem to be a problem, I had no trouble hitting lvl 90 council members with a lvl 76 barb using no AR charms, as little dex as I needed for gear, and very little AR on said gear. Also, I think socketing an Eth rune in a weapon solves any AR issue whatsoever.

Magic barb hats aren't for BO (you can use a delirium RW in a +3BO hat for that) but more for the possibility of +2barb +3 find item +3 berserk 100life ChamIstIst for pitzerker. Probably some nice singer options too. Very hard to top current cham shako at any rate.

BK and grandfather are by far the easiest good options for weapons. Both are Colossus Blades. Other options (swords mentioned only) are big cruel of quickness which can get 4 sockets from Larzuk, and crafts which can get 3. Magical ones take great luck to shop, let alone socket, and crafts are even harder. BK swords will get the job done pretty effectively, though, so no rush. If hardcore, nothing beats the life bonuses of Grandfather and Doombringer.
 
@helvete I'm having trouble replicating your issue with the BK set on my barb...if I put the Mythical Sword left (above gloves) I get poison damage, but if I put the Colossus Blade left, I get CB and knockback (which doesn't work on council, but was fun when I tested it earlier on the Frozen Plains...got a PI Bishibosh and played 'kick the can' on him all the way across the plains with the knockback & WW)

Strange... I'll try statting every req needed to wield it alone when I level up (slowly). Does your ingame toon carry the big sword in his right hand?
 
Then that's a good indicator.... No matter what I do, the little sword is always in his right (berserk) hand. I'll try to get those last hard points of dex.
 
And here's our (complete?) list of typos in the unique items. Blizzard new they couldn't meet the LoD deadline, so they rushed and then got hammered to forget about the problems. This is very apparent as you will see. Keep in mind, many (but not all) of these typos were fixed on the realms during 1.08.

LOL, yeah, well that's 1.07 for ya....pretty much all elite weapons are borked for damage (can't really say nerfed, as they were introduced with 1.07, and some things obviously weren't really tested prior to release) Damage ain't the only thing screwy there, either...note that mine is rlvl 76... that is the rlvl of ANY Colossus Blade in 1.07. But, hey, at least I save 45 points in Dex, right?

Remember the "1% pierce" is actually way more than that and I think I provided evidence to suggest that it goes towards the skill that amazons have (so lvl 50 is like 99% pierce)
