Alright, looking through my uniques for interesting ctc items.

in-game it says on attack, but it appears to actually be on striking! I can get multiple casts from a single throw :D
 
Ok, I tested a bunch of items and it's pretty funny! Many of them say "on attack" but obviously proc their spell multiple times on a single throw. Look at the pics for the spells :D

edit: it doesn't look like the other weapon loses durability... or it does very slowly.

BTW, magic arrow works if you use a bow + extra weapon. Now i'm wondering what the most OP combo would be... thoughts? Too bad magic arrow is single target but at least it would pierce.

One more post: looks like the second weapon ias is added to the first one (not sure if it counts as off-hand or not... I put on a 80% ias bow in the second slot to see if it changed my attack speed and it made a huge difference

Hmm..

Well now I'm tempted to make a new zon capable of holding cranium basher. Getting to 85 is a bit of a pain, though.
It would be great as either a javazon or a bowzon but I'm unsure what bow would be best to pair with something like cranium basher...
The skillpoint split is pretty much the same, too. I could just put a few points in magic arrow (or only 1, but why not boost it) and save points on unsuable skills while not wearing arrows/bolts such as strafe.
 
I have a 1.08 hone sundan and it's only 1os. There are a plethora of typos in the unique items.
Hone sundan-typo makes 3os be 1os
Harlequin-has no Mana per lv
Veil of steel-no Vita per level
Maelstorm-no fcr, only has light res
Black hades-1os instead of 3

There's many more items, I'll have the entire list on here when I publish the 1.08 guide.
 
Had a slow day at work and decided to look into the code to find out why merc's level so slow in 1.08. In doing so I saw how the act 2 merc auras worked and decided to write this table since I couldn't find it anywhere. It's the exact same in 1.07.

As you can see, normal merc's are the best and give all possible auras. A defensive normal merc does get holy freeze at level 55. Which I read somewhere someone said wasn't added until 1.09.

Edit: personally I like the dual aura system, would have been nice if they kept it.

The % is the chance the merc will proc that skill when choosing a move (along with Jab). Once the aura procs, it will stay unless the other aura proc's. I'm using a Holy Freeze/Defiance merc on my sorc, and he has one or the other about 50% of the time. If I tele so he can't make a move, It will keep him at Holy Freeze.

For each 10 levels, the merc gets +1 to aura. So Holy Freeze will be Lv 5 at merc lv 95. Might will be lv 11 max.
 
Yeah it slows good but the radius is crap. Might is always useful, but since merc's don't regen... It seems act 5 barbs are the best. (they heal really weird though)
 
Ya they're supposed to heal fast at high lvls but even then it seems inconsistent. Rogues don't seem to really heal at all... or at least it's extremely slow
 
What do you consider the best gear for barb merc? I was thinking BK CB, gladiators bane and vgaze. Sockets are filled with ias/res jewels or IPDR. Getting merc to lv 85 is a pain though!
 
I use GF sword for the huge life improvement but the CB (and res?) on BK is nice.
I also normally use skullder's for the MF and but otherwise glad bane or shaftstop (maybe for cows) or tal's armor (mdr and res for most other purposes).
Vamp gaze or shako for helm imo but again it mostly depends on what you're running. Shako + GF sword can boost barb merc life up to around 2k whereas without either of them they have about 1k.
 
Hm. Does anyone know how blade fury works in 1.07? Does it carry over certain things like leech and crushing blow like later on? Any additional features?

Also, can the assassin weapon glitch like most chars? If so, a BK set furysin would be pretty cool for running council...
 
Hey guys,

I just got my level 23 sorc to A4 with little problems. I'm in HC and untwinked, should I spend some time farming Mephisto for some normal uniques? Anything in particular I should look for? Or even better, are there some good spots to level up so I can get FO? I've been taking it slow and steady using Frozen Nova + Static + A2 Merc but I almost got insta-gibbed by a normal pack of Abyss Knights and I figured I'd stop and get some assistance as I may be to far ahead of myself.
 
@adamsaccount Personally I would go with Blizzard because FO is hard to aim. You can spam nova during the blizzard delay. Also, get an Act 5 merc as they tank much better and heal. As for leveling, it depends on what your level is:
Levels 1-10 > Tristram
Levels 10-20 > Rocky Waste
Levels 20-30 > Bloody Foothills
Levels 30-45 > WSK 2/3
Levels 45-60 > Bloody Foothills (NM)
Levels 60-70 > WSK 2/3 (NM)
Levels 70-99 > Cows (H)

Hell Mephisto and Diablo with 556 MF is the way to go for uniques.
