1.07 News, Info and Gossip

I approve of this line of thinking.... I disapprove of the lack of 'Grandmaster's' in that list. Can only spawn on (iirc) Colossus Blades, Giant Threshers, Hydra Bows, & Thunder Mauls, but where better to put 580%ED? (that is assuming a perfect roll, yes, but for the sake of theorycraft I do just love that number... especially on those hurty sticks)

AFAIK only QLVL 76 weapons can spawn Grandmaster's: Giant Thresher, Colossus Blade, and Demon Crossbow. But that does remind me of a good point, crafting with high QLVL items does mean you can craft independently of cLvl. I was mostly sticking to affixes that can be achieved independant of higher qlvls, though I had forgotten than alvls 55-57 were unconfirmed as being possible with pure clvl. though up to 57 is confirmed at a qLVL of 67. qLVL/iLVL of 66 isn't associated with an aLVL yet, afaik.

Hmm.. just realized those ~150+ ort runes would have been better spent making safety bows instead of blood bows (assuming I got amp dmg and 20ias, ofc)...

safety bows have some small amount of mdr and that's actually a pretty big deal in 1.07. My merc already has 15 mdr from tal's so the ~3+ more would probably help more than 20 life or whatever

Speaking of safety. Rolled this tonight. Not great, but still an upgrade! And for once the readout is almost entirely accurate to the in game text!

Prevent Monster Heal

Max safety roll.

It has ease -20, so presuming that's 20% it should have reqs of 94/94. (which is supported by some other confirmed items).

That said, it says it's lvl req is 53 (both the site and the txts), which is 1-2 levels lower (depending on rounding rules) than -20% reqs would account for with the base item, so it's possible there's something strange going on in the calculations.

Edit: those stats on the wayback machine are likely for 1.08, which is the first patch where the elite items were almost entirely re-stated.

I answered that question soon enough. I took all the MF gear off my sorc and but on lots of FRW and FCR and found a stable Caddy rack within five minutes and had a shiny new Griz's Redemption with a half an hour.

Griswold's Redemption

Required Dexterity: 94
Required Strength: 94

350% Damage to Undead
Socketed (3: 0 used)

I was about to load up my smiting hammerdin, but no Griz's Heart!!!! I was absolutely positive I had one. With the luck I had finding the caddy, it'll probably take a week to find a stable Ornate Plate rack. *sigh*

I'm thinking about starting my first 1.07 character in about 13 years. I was thinking about making an LF Zon for cows and running LK for runes/charms/craftables. Also gonna make some blood rings. Are LK superchests a good spot to get runes in 1.07 (planning on time travelling them)?

depends on the rune, but I've got a handful of lum, ko, fal, etc. there, and 2x Lo, 2x Vex. ~1/5500 runs per vex is expected (2 patterns) and twice as many runs for a Lo rune (one pattern)

If you're also wanting HRs for beta runewords, it would be faster by HF rushing, or LK in 1.09 (or 1.10beta itself)(players command).

But as you want to do crafting again, you'll likely find something before you're done crafting.

As a general rule, however, everything takes longer in 1.07. Especially compared to 1.13.

Cool. Aside from crafting options, rack hunting for special uniques/sets, and maxdam/resist charms, is there any particularly novel that I should be looking out for to send up to my 1.13 folks?

high ilvl GCs are much easier to get (for rerolling in 1.13).. RoF drops from objects, and anywhere in nihl temple from objects for example...

If you're interested in popping 4os into a magic item that would be useful in 1.13 (maybe a 4os something phase blade of quickness?)

Or 4os body armor w/ life + a prefix... or 3os tower shields with prefix... :p

Good to know. I think I'm going to focusing on farming charms and racks, and then rings, Ko's, jewels, and Rubies. Gonna try to get my hands on a decent bugged Blood ring. Should I be concerned about my clvl before I craft these?

Ethereal weapon bases. Leveling is faster at high levels with self MP (generally in cows), so a relatively easy way to get multiple high level (or max level) characters to move to future patches.

MDR/PDR and min damage comes in higher numbers in this patch as well, if that's something a project of yours might be after.

And yes, all crafting is based on clvl*0.66. The item's ilvl however is irrelevant. It's QLVL does appear to be used if it results in higher alvls than your clvl though.

I gave up trying to find Griz's Heart, went back to adventuring with my Smiting Hammerdin and this afternoon he became a Patriarch. :D

Two down, five more to go!!!
