Beta Bramble is indeed a real temptation for high 1.07 runes. I still have a 1.07 Sur from cows that I've been intending to make beta Bramble with but I haven't done that yet.

Hello everyone, just wanted to post my first ever pair of Mat sorceresses, Alice Frostwen, CL76, a cookie cutter FO/Static but with Hydra, as well as Ingrid Terpic, my Charged Boltress Light Sorc, CL 76. Both are 1.07 Softcore vanilla. Life was 894 for Ingrid, and 855 for Alice, with about 8K Mana for each with ES used with buffs. Gear included a +2 skills Orb, +2 skills circlet, +1 skills prismatic amulet, Frostburn, Infernostride, Skin of the ViperMagi, along with a bugged Triumphant MPK/FCR ring for each, and a couple of Skiller charms(Cold and Lightning). Other gear was substandard by forum standards, mostly blue and green.

Skills for Alice were FO:20, CM:8, Static: 10, Warmth:10, FM: 1, Hydra: 17, with all prereqs, along with ES and Tele. FO final level was around 29 and hit 30 with +3 skills/PDR headgear. Three skill points were unspent when fighting Baal. Skills for Ingrid were CB:20, LM:18, Static:5, FO:1!, CM:7 Warmth:6 and Hydra:8 with all prereqs, ES and Tele, two points wasted, and no skill points remaining when fighting Baal. Final CB level was 26 with Charged Bolts doing 86-93 or so damage each, with 27 or so bolts. With a +3L/Life headgear I hit CB level 27 for cows.

My tactics for Hell Baal were cheesy because I used Hydra for both Chars, rather than going point blank with Static. But it was a lot safer with only one death from an unlucky Baal teleport/manaflame, between both Sorcs. Hydra isn't great for drops/MF, but is great for killing things.

I found that ES works well with the MPK rings and Warmth for both Sorcs, using 1pt and pre-buff items. A light sorc is a lot of fun to play, but does need FO/CM as a backup for LI. DPS is good because you can spam CB in between FO 1 sec cooldowns. Alice had no problems with 8 skill points in CM(and plus skills) breaking CI. Final subtraction was 80% from cold resistance/immunity. This level of CM seemed to be the only way to kill certain tele/magic resistant/LI bosses before they healed themselves. Even Ingrid's low level FO did more damage than static to a non-LI boss. I will be rack-running and crafting for my other 1.07 chars, after some visits to burger take-out in Act 1... Hey hey, I "just" started playing 1.07, currently lvl 52 just finished nm with my javazon and I need some tips.

1. L.fury rocks vs mobs but I'm having some trouble killing bosses/unique mobs. I only have 10% CB(crafted gloves) and I need more CB. What would be my best option to obtaining more CB?
2. I found a list with about ~20 runewords is this all runewords in 1.07, for instance I found a Pul and it has no use (what I can find)

I'm currently sitting at ~200mf, I've got ATMAS and I did some MF calc and it says that Diablo in normal has like 1:130 to drop Rattlecage takes about 4min to do a dia run is it worth it or should I do rackrunning instead?
Been looking in some guides but some basic tips and hints would be welcome aswell

The links on the first page of this thread are broken. Those will answer all your questions, but I will also input what I can.

1. Jab is a good skill, and the ed is helpful in 1.07 if you use only Javs, but I used Guided Arrow and a bow. Max damage charms do work with Jab, but not ranged attacks. Also, an Act V merc is usually by far the best choice in this patch. Act 2 mercs are allright, but the Barbs take the cake.

On to your CB question, I found a Guillames my second play through from a body in Act 2. Racking one is much more reliable. Other than that, boss running with as much mf as you have (Meph will be much quicker) will eventually net you Rattlecage. I still have yet to find Goblin Toes, but they are out there.

2. MF does not work the same way in 1.07 as it does in 1.09+ (read the guide I linked), but do know that more mf does help (especially against bosses) and is generally unreliable against normal monsters.

OK - I've finished my 1.13 v 1.09 WW Barb project (Pat intros pending). So... I think my next project will be the Melee/Minion Artillary Necro (with a Deception Cinquedeas) in 1.07 to shamelessly exploit the ungoverned Amp of this patch and the built-in Eth rune bug of that runeword. I've managed to accumulate some gear through trading, so it won't be totally untwinked.

Since I don't have an uber-stash, gear progression won't require nearly as much planning as I'm used to for my other projects, but I do plan on using the Visceratuant.

Has anybody here done a Necro recently?

That has +2 Necro vs +3 Barb in later patches, huh? That looks like an awesome Necro Melee stick, but there's a couple of things that argue against using a polearm:

1. A Necro is fragile and the 2 HP/Vitality point means that he needs a good blocking shield (and Visceratuant is almost perfect - just a little low on blocking).
2. He needs help on CtH - AR from Poison Dagger, or a good runeword (rare in 1.07) with Eth in it (like Deception, which happens to be dagger only)

Just out of curiosity, is Grim's Burning Dead also Necro-friendly in 1.07?

Wanted to ask some questions.
1) What is the best use for all gems? Like i use chipped, flawed and normal sapphires for mpk rings, but what about flawless and perfect sapphires, should i use them or save for something else? The same question goes for other gems (skulls, topazes, emeralds, etc.). I have read that gem quality doesnt matter for crafting.
2) What about ww barbs in 1.07?
3) Is it possible to rack tal rasha's armor in LK?

1) Uses for gems include the resistance ring cube formulas: sapphires for cold (thats the MPK ring formula), rubies for fire, topazes for lightning, emeralds for poison...crafting: sapphires for hitpower (very few hitpower recipies, though), rubies for blood, amethysts for caster, emeralds for safety (also very few recipies)(and yes, any grade gem will work for crafting). There is also the 3 chipped gem + sword and 4 healthpot + ruby + sword formulas (but output is always a Long Sword), the savage bardiche formula (uses a diamond and always produces a bardiche), and the small shield of spikes formula (uses 2 skulls and alway produces a small shield w/ATD and a socket).
There is the Prismatic Amulet formula, which uses pgems (one of each except skull) and the 3 pgem magic item reroll formula (which is nigh useless in 1.07, as it floors the ilvl of the item to [highlight]1[/highlight]...there are some niche uses for this, but for the usual targets of the reroll formula (charms and jewels), it really SUX!!)
There are also the intrinsic bonuses from gems...ptopazes in armor/helms in particular are nice for getting your MF up to hit the breakpoints for sets from hell champs and uniques, and for uniques from hell act bosses (which only drop from the treasure classes they have in normal difficulty)...pdiamonds are nice in sheilds for the +res all, sapphires in helm/armor for mana, rubies in helm/armor for life.

2) In 1.07, WW has a few issues, but works great if you allow for them...for one thing, WW does NOT alternate between weapons if you're dual wielding, it always hits with the primary weapon, so you want one really hurty stick and one stick with good support mods (or just use a shield/2hander). The other big issue with WW is that you must avoid ANY CtC mods on your gear (ALL your gear, not just weapons)...if a CtC mod triggers, it brings you out of your whirl IMMEDIATELY, almost certainly where you do NOT wish to be...

3) Yes. 1.07 hell LK is alvl 88, so racks drop ilvl87 items...since Lacquered Plate is qlvl84 in 1.07, Tal's armor can drop from hell LK racks (note that monster drops are capped at qlvl66, so Lacquered Plate can never drop from them...)

Nice finds, BTW...that Vex is almost half a beta CTA!

On the 6 Pgem amulet recipe:

It doesn't happen often, but the prismatic amulet recipe does occasionally turn out some pretty incredible gear. The intrinsic resists have no level requirement (just like the ring resist recipe), so sometimes you at least get remarkable twinking gear if nothing else. But better yet, you sometimes get rare, set or unique amulets from it which can be quite nice- they have the intrinsic resists, which can be high, plus whatever other bonuses from the affixes. I have some quite nice +3 skill tree amulets from those efforts. But cubing up to Pgems is a pain, just as it is in later patches...

I have rushed 7 amazon mules and got 2 grand matron bows (in hell anya always gives some kind of elite bow). So my question is: what level would be optimum for crafting gmb (i am thinking to use lesser craft blood weapon recipe)?

1.07 GMB is qlvl67...crafting level is clvl * 0.66, with a max of 65 at clvl99. As qlvl (67) > ilvl (max65), the affix pool for a GMB will always be the same, whether you craft with a lvl1 character, or a lvl99 one. Number of affixes, however, does seem to be positively effected by higher clvls...IF it is like later patches, then ideally you'd want to be at least clvl78 (crafting ilvl51), so as to get at least 3 affixes, and you can never get to ilvl71 to always get 4.

A GMB isn't quite high enough in qlvl to get Archer's (+3 b&c), but it can get Valkyrie's (+2 Zon) and will get an automod as well(+1-3 b&c, higher clvls are better here).

BTW, the lesser blood craft is just fine, the greater craft is much more expensive, and only adds 1-2% LL, 5 life, and 6-13%ED...and is just as likely to bug with very high %LL (or high %ML)

OK - I got my 1.07 install up and running, gathered all the sweet 1.07 gear I've been collecting for this project, and just about to fire up my newest character in an unexplored patch.... and I can't think of a name.

This guy will be using a Deception Cinquedeas as a melee weapon, and will most likely follow the build of my 1.09 Necro - the build I've dubbed a MMAN. Shameless exploitation of the ungoverned, PI breaking Amp of 1.07 with copious CE is the plan, so much more artillary than my 1.09 necro.

So, any ideas for a character name?

Well, apparently the game loves me at the moment. I rolled a FA Amazon in 1.13 recently to get some action going on with the Ice that has dusted my stashes for a long time. I was thinking that nice Caster gloves would be awesome for her. So i've gambled maybe ~6 pairs of Vambraces with the gold from Trav and the last pair rolled this. 2/4 of the mods useless but they should rock anyways.

Yes they do suck compared to their counterparts in later versions. But tiamats is still effective on certain builds in 1.07..

Got 1.07 reinstalled and played a lot with all my old friends. My Sazabidin gained a few levels hitting the hell council (got a Mal rune and lotsa crafting junk). My zon did a lot of rack shopping, found an IK Maul by accident, and settled on a bone knife rack.

I hit mephy a few times with my MF sorc, just to see a the pretty golds, but nothing cool dropped.
