May be I'm not correctly post. I think Hel in Arky is good decision. Do you have some ideas?

The Hel rune is advice for socketing a Lightsabre :thumbup: But you do bring up a good point: what to socket in an Arkaine's Valor?
Personally, I think a Hel rune for AV is a good choice; 165 with 20% off is 132. That means 33 more points in Energy, which translates to 99 more mana.
A Sol could also be good if straight damage reduction was also great in combination with Energy Shield in 1.07.
A Shae for FHR is always nice, but I don't find myself stunned that often.
Lastly, I'm thinking of either an Um rune, an all resist jewel or anything else with resists. Resist all is always good, but with Arkaine's, extra fire resist is not needed. Perhaps an Ort for lightning resist or a Tal for Poison resist (especially considering poison ignores Energy Shield) would be best?

About cows - just check exp and "kill per minute". May be A5 monsters is better.
Cows are pretty for sorc, bow/jaws, DS assasins, necroes w/ CE.

With my Frozen Orb sorc, I find that I can kill lots of cows in a short period of time. I've tried Nihlathak's temple, but the narrow halls make it that I can't kill a lot of monsters in the same amount of time. The Ancient's Way/Icy Cellar is better in this aspect, though.

I think Hel in AV good for dexozones(I have one, 68lvl) and sorc's. For baba lovering str req is never mind - all good elite weapons requires many strength.
Or you can create a polearmer/whirlwinder "strength" baba with zero on vita.
AV 1.07/1.08 offer very interesting char builds.

Some bad news and some good news in my 1.07 projects-

First the bad: Runic Talons only get 2 sockets in 1.07!

I had what I thought was a great idea for a build in 1.12 using 1.07 gear brought forward. There is the elusive "BearSin" using magic Jeweler's Runic Talons of Quickness with enough IAS in the 3 sockets to get either 3fpa or 2fpa attacks depending upon with whom you speak. The problem is that the damage from the claws themselves is not impressive, but at that speed crushing blow from other gear and Venom are very impressive in combination. I don't have a Beast weapon yet, but I have the runes for it in 1.11+ and I have some great base item options from various 1.07 racks.

My idea for the eventual BearSin was to craft great 1.07 Runic Talons and then get 3 sockets from Larzuk. So I crafted a bunch and got some fantastic ones. Some good combos were with Cruel, Quickness and various other juicy mods like 31% leech, ITD, skills. But the bad news- in 1.07, Runic Talons can only get 2 sockets from Larzuk. I tried 3 times- every single time was 2. It's not random- Larzuk always puts 3 sockets in crafted unless the item type can only handle two or one. Then I dug up the info. Well, apparently runic talons can only have 2 sockets in 1.07. So that brilliant idea won't come to complete fruition. If I take the remaining claws forward and socket them later, they will just get one socket, so I'll either socket them in 1.07 for two sockets (I have zillions of mules with unused socket quests) or leave them there for the time being. Nevertheless, I do have some very nice claws which will eventually hopefully get put to good use.

Now the good: a 1.07 cow dropped a Sur!

I have great plans for carefully taking my mules forward to make 1.10 beta runewords, with the idea being Call to Arms, Delirium and Crescent Moon in various things. I have a bunch of 1.07 mules ready for their 1.10 forge drops and figure they will net me some good runes, enough for those runewords. But a Sur puts beta Bramble as a possibility- something I'd never considered. I don't have experience with big Poison builds and it makes me uneasy to think about creating a heavyweight runeword with such huge variation in the prime parameter (69-207% for +poison skill damage.) If I can't bring myself to commit to Bramble, I can always bring it forward to cube up, so either way I am in great shape!

Congrats on the Sur. I like "special" stuff a lot, so I definitely couldn't resist making a beta Bramble if I had the opportunity.

FINALLY I racked my second Arkaine's Valor!! Man, that took long!

I estimate the total amount of runs for both armors around 1500-1800, so it's really not that bad...

I'm really glad I can finally look for some other racks now... hopefully I'll find another Bramble Mitts rack.

So the differences are the ED% vs. Demons and Undead and the sockets. One problem with the lack of sockets is that with only one socket (from Larzuk) you'll never hit the last WW breakpoint.

Two questions about this:
  1. Do forwarded 1.07 IKSC's get their set bonusses from later versions? (I think I asked a similar question some months back... sorry for double-asking! ^^)
  2. Would it be worth it to get a 1.07 IKSC for non-WW builds?

EDIT 2: Is there any reason to rack for a Griswold's Honor (the shield), aside from just having one to complete the set? It doesn't have the 20% extra chance of blocking and no resists either. I know it can still spawn with ED%/AR or resists, but it doesn't appear to ever be able to beat those of later versions.

That's great news about the GMB reward! I had assumed the ilvl of the reward was fixed, like the Ormus and Akara ring rewards, though. I have a bunch of mule zons rushed to Hell- they haven't done the resists quest yet but I was figuring that would be a good potential source (as far as I know, the only potential source) of 1.07 GMBs. If the reward item ilvl depends upon character level, it may be worth levelling them some more before picking up their rewards.

I've found an Aerin Shield (Herald of Zakarum) rack that's only two teleports away from the WP. Do you guys think it's worth running it? Seems like the 'normal' HoZ is superior; it seems the 1.07 version only has CBF and ED% vs. Undead. It may get an automod, only if it's a high ED%/AR bonus it may be worth it.

I'm not sure, but I think those two IKSCs actually have the same damage to demons and undeads. Reason I'm saying this are the jewels with %ED to Undead and Demons which have ED higher by 100 than it actually is, but when viewed in ATMA it's normal.

Say, would also explain why blunt weapons display 150% ED vs. Undead, instead of 50.

Also, a question from Skiffcz (and from me as well ^^):

one noob question, it can be found easily I guess, but Im bloody tired, so please tolerate my laziness for once - the Arkains Valor can or cannot drop ethereal? Since its .. you know, indestructible .. but I dont recall how is it in 1.07 ...

Personally I have the feeling it only happens in 1.08. If it does, I think that the time traveling thread should be updated with this!

One last question from me for now: are the 1.07 stats for The Gladiator's Bane the same as the 1.08 version? Seems like it's worth racking to me (fixed 150% ED instead of 150%-200% and 40% poison length reduction instead of 50%, but 25 DR instead of 15-20and 20 MDR instead of 15-20). Especially if it can spawn ethereal!

Some notable things during gameplay:

- not only does the physical damage of the javalin get transferred to each bolt during a lightning fury, but the proc % also. I use a rare war javalin with chance to cast amp damage and in large crowds I sometimes get mulitple castings of amp damage which is cool. Only drawback is I cannot throw another fury as amp is being 'casted'.

- I expected the old 1.09 guided arrow pierce but 1.07 doesn't have it. :doh:

- My merc is using a Hexfire which casts Hydra. However the Hydra attacks my party members and not the monsters. They do no damage nor cause dodge animation so it's not a problem.

- The game doesn't like Hwanin's Refuge. I tried equipping it on my merc but the game kept crashing. I'm guessing it has to do with the 10% ctc Static?


As an aside, who is playing 1.07 now? It would be nice to get so group gaming if possible since leveling in players 1 is such a hassel. :scratchchin:

Sorry, I can't help you there on the Gladiator's Bane- I looked through and didn't see one in my stashes, but they are a huge mess at the moment and need sorting out. On the Arkaine's, I don't think they can spawn ethereal in 1.07 (none of the ones I have are ethereal, but of course that doesn't say much) but I don't know. Even if they can spawn ethereal, the chances are pretty remote to get an ethereal unique from a rack: 1/1000 are uniques, and I think 10% of items that can be ethereal drop ethereal. So that is a lot of racking!

I am crafting some phase blades and legend swords and I have a question on the mechanics of the affixes- it doesn't seem like Cruel can spawn. I've tried a bunch, and gotten some good ones as far as +dmg/lvl, +huge AR, Evisceration, Transcendence, etc but absolutely no high ED% ones. This is using the lesser blood craft, and I've seen not a lot, but a fair number, of high ED% ones when crafting berserker axes, colossus blades, runic talons, and even cadeuceuses. Is this a quality level issue? I suspect as much but I don't know enough about the affix selection process.

I was hoping to get a good crafted legend sword (of Quickness, high ED%) and then get 3 sockets to use for further IAS, and had some feral axe ideas as well, but their quality levels are a lot lower than the others (59 for legend, 57 for feral ax vs. 85 for others.) If that is the limitation, that would be good to know- until then, I'll stick to crafting the bigger quality level weapons, where I've had good success!

As a curiousity, I did get a crafted indestructible legend blade of self-repair, that's overkill...

@Zhao_Yue: I use multiple computers to play, to get higher player counts for leveling. Most of the extra characters just sit there or help in situational ways, and often leech experience as well.

Interesting observations! If CB is transferred as well, loading up on CB could be a great method for cow runs!

About the game crash, if it occurs when you're merc is being it, it's sure to be caused by that. It doesn't have any other 'unusual' mod, so I'd be pretty much sure it's caused by the % to cast SF.

It appears that many 1.07 players are either retired (ie. back in a few months ^^) or have gone back to 1.12. LK runs on /p3 appears to be quite populair, since it was discovered one could find Lo's, Surs and Bers relatively easy this way.
I'm still actively playing 1.07, though. I could organize some cow runs one of these days, if I can find the time. Can't promise anything though, as I have tentams coming up in a few weeks...

Yiuman was generous enough to send me 1.07 unique and set statistics, and it comfirms that The Gladiator's Bane has 25 PDR and 20 MDR. Sounds like it may be worth racking to me.

About the ethealness, it may not be worth the time looking for ethereal versions, but if it's only 1.08 where it happens, it would be worth to move on to 1.08 early, as uniques drop from rack at the rate of 1/800 there as well.

An indestructable item with self-repair? Forward it, go hunt for Bers, cube them up to a Zod and socket it! :scratchchin:

Sorry, I don't know about crafting as well. Is RTB still around? He may know something. Otherwise I'm just as lost as you! :crazyeyes:
