Yeah cool. Although I can only watch this with great respect, as I've 'only' ran a 53K and a 56K myself. A 50 miler might be within reach when the kids are a bit older and I (hopefully) have more time. A 100 miler though ... pretty sure my body won't ever be able to cope with that.

. That's really bad news.Getting your corpse back is definitely worth it, as it means several hours of grinding. Problem is: if you die again, it means even a bigger loss of xp. So if you have a body retrieval kit in your stash (which you should) and think you can safely get your body back ... go for it. Otherwise, might be better not to.
I decided not to. This has totally wiped my desire to play Fordyl though haha No doubt, I will play him again, it is only one death, but it does deflate you quite a bit...
I also died with Vodka once during the 98 without picking the body. Had a long pause but then picked up playing again. Hopefully you'll recover quickly from this!
Back to around about where I was prior to dying. I think maybe slightly ahead because I'm jumped over scrcrw. I'm aiming to hit 99 in the Christmas break, bearing in mind that I have exams prior to it. I'm not sure how realistic that is, but meh

Updating the table, to keep myself motivated (moved up 10 positions in the level 97 rank, although mainly because the others only got just past 97 ) and to remind other participants in the current 99er project to add themselves here, as a means to keep them motivated as well .

Hello everyone!
I think it is time to introduce Aura the Untwinked Hammerdin to this thread as well. Those of you who are not familiar with @Kitteh 's Untwinked 99er Tournament, that's where Aura was born. For more details, check here.
Aura was born on October 5th, to have a second runner in the tournament in addition to my Fury/Rabies wolf as I wanted a caster character. It didn't take me too long to figure out that for a serious untwinked attempt at reaching 99, I need a character capable of teleporting. It took 5 days to get him to Hell LK and find his first Sur rune and on November 12th, I finally found 5th Sur (and already had 2 Lo runes) and was able to finally make an Enigma. At that point Aura was lvl92 due to Eldritch runs and various attempts at different areas to test how he fares with /p8 A85 running. It was time to move to CS.
Now, few days under a month later, Aura is lvl97 and reached 3 billion mark in XP. At 97, he is the highest ever character I've ever had, surpassing my previous runner in this same thread years and years ago, also a Hammerdin. The plan for the end is to run Grand Vizier/Infector runs until he reaches lvl98, then I want to have a quick go at Nihlathak running and if that's not working, going to run the last level killing Diablo few thousand times. But more on that later. If you want to read more specific updates on Aura's progress, head into the Untwinked tourney thread, first ones are on page 39 I think and I am trying to do weekly-ish updates from now on until I reach 99
Here's Aura's gear, which is pretty standard for Hammerdins, but as I very rarely played untwinked chars, Aura has quickly become my pride and joy:
Charms are Gheeds, 2x Paladin Combat (+4 dex and Plain), rest small charms with res, life or mf, nothing too great to write home about. Been really unlucky with PC skillers, ideally I'd want two more to get toss away some MF or life charms so I can increase my damage and get a bit faster with runs.
Skills are not the most typical Hammerdin, with slight twist and I think there's one or two 99 Hammerdins in the Table of Heroes with the same setup, last two skill points going to Holy Shield:
I'll try to give updates every now and again, probably around the same time I update the Untwinked tournament posts, or possibly not as often but still. Currently I am chasing @T72on1's Neverland, so that's the next "big step" for Aura, then it's lvl98 and hoping to keep my focus on the runs and reach lvl99 as the 4th person on the tournament. Currently there's 2 99ers from that tournament, but we have @NanoMist on the last quarter (?) of 98-99 push, so there's no chance I'll get there first.

I think it is time to introduce Aura the Untwinked Hammerdin to this thread as well. Those of you who are not familiar with @Kitteh 's Untwinked 99er Tournament, that's where Aura was born. For more details, check here.
Aura was born on October 5th, to have a second runner in the tournament in addition to my Fury/Rabies wolf as I wanted a caster character. It didn't take me too long to figure out that for a serious untwinked attempt at reaching 99, I need a character capable of teleporting. It took 5 days to get him to Hell LK and find his first Sur rune and on November 12th, I finally found 5th Sur (and already had 2 Lo runes) and was able to finally make an Enigma. At that point Aura was lvl92 due to Eldritch runs and various attempts at different areas to test how he fares with /p8 A85 running. It was time to move to CS.
Now, few days under a month later, Aura is lvl97 and reached 3 billion mark in XP. At 97, he is the highest ever character I've ever had, surpassing my previous runner in this same thread years and years ago, also a Hammerdin. The plan for the end is to run Grand Vizier/Infector runs until he reaches lvl98, then I want to have a quick go at Nihlathak running and if that's not working, going to run the last level killing Diablo few thousand times. But more on that later. Been really unlucky with PC skillers, ideally I'd want two more to get toss away some MF or life charms so I can increase my damage and get a bit faster with runs.
Skills are not the most typical Hammerdin, with slight twist and I think there's one or two 99 Hammerdins in the Table of Heroes with the same setup, last two skill points going to Holy Shield:

Currently I am chasing @T72on1's Neverland, so that's the next "big step" for Aura, then it's lvl98 and hoping to keep my focus on the runs and reach lvl99 as the 4th person on the tournament. Currently there's 2 99ers from that tournament, but we have @NanoMist on the last quarter (?) of 98-99 push, so there's no chance I'll get there first.

Cool you post here @Neksja. 2 months to get where you are now is really amazing !!! I already thought I felt a touch of cold air, must be you breathing in my neck . I never ever played a Hammerdin, but he is certainly quite high on my priority list right now.
O yes, I'll update the table for my own character for now, so you know where I am at the moment. After that I won't update here before I reach the (current) #1 spot at level 97, at 3.109M xp. By then it will most likely be the #2 spot, unless you already reached level 98 at that time.

Btw, I was reading through this post from the beginning, and it got me confused. I'm at page 48 now, and afterone year into the challenge no one had reached level 99 yet. Most of the people were also doing Baal runs back then.

I think a lot of the initial players didn't have so many enigmas and infinities, plus perhaps their methods were less sophisticated? Standard P8 runs etc?
I know of at least one javazon who ran, plus Darkchaos' tesladin (worth a read by the way!). Also, I have a feeling that the wolf barb had no enigma, but I can't be bothered checking
Yeah there were a few enigma-less runners in there, and the fact that almost all of the early runners leveled purely on Baal runs makes up the time difference. Our strats now can cut the time of pure Baaling almost in half if you take the most efficient route with a "cookie cutter" build. Also consider this started in 1.10, before the increased rune drops of 1.13, so it wasn't so easy for everyone so slap an Enigma and Infinity on and mow everything down.
I remember way back at the start of this a 5 minute Baal run was perfectly reasonable, and even considered decent. Now the benchmark for decent is probably closer to 3 minutes, and a good run is closer to 2.5 or even 2 minutes.
I still love this thread though, and re-read it every now and then. One of the SPF's great endeavors, that's for sure.
I remember way back at the start of this a 5 minute Baal run was perfectly reasonable, and even considered decent. Now the benchmark for decent is probably closer to 3 minutes, and a good run is closer to 2.5 or even 2 minutes.
I still love this thread though, and re-read it every now and then. One of the SPF's great endeavors, that's for sure.
