Final Fantasy Forum Mafia Game Thread

Not once has the argument that knight = mafia been made.

The argument has been made that a knight may hold a strongman ability, and given what has happened the last few days it is likely that a strongman is present.
So, you're saying that a strongman knight could be town?

You're right about that that argument has not been made. The argument knight = strongman has.
I'm curious how that doesn't equate to knight = strongman = mafia.

Alright, I'm heading out and tomorrow there is some superb owl everyone keeps talking about, sounds like a big deal. I'll come back later tonight for one last check in, but I just think Ant is right play. I think he is scum and I think the game will end on his lynch.

Vote: AAA

Unvote: Bad Ash

Only because I'm watching this stream with an owl in it do I change my vote. Let's stop this day and see what happens:

Vote: AnnualAntAnswers

With the lock of AAA, Mafia now control the vote, even if they aren't able to pull off a kill tonight. GG everyone, that's a wrap, mafia win the game!

lol. gg wp. mafia win. Yay me. Thank me for the victory once game ends! Yay mafia! Nice work guys, too bad for the town's modkills :(.

So everyone, please post your thoughts!

From the very first few minutes of the first day phase, mafia thought they were gonna get rolled, and for most of the game, seemed content with the idea of two mafias.

I feel the game was pretty well balanced, but town took some heavy mod-kill losses, and of course, Moar shooting Drixx for shooting BPC meant 2 powerful roles were taken out in 1 fell swoop. Good job Moar, you seem to have pulled the wool over everyone this time!

There were quite a few times where town could have recovered and taken a huge lead, when Mafia were considering targeting Numbers for their Kill. Was an interesting mechanic; if Numbers were to have been killed, he would have resurrected, with a vote restriction for the next day, loss of NK ability the next night, and any other kill shot (vig or NK) would take him out. That penalty lasts for the next 2 full phases, then he would have been back to normal.

Anyway, feel free to ask any questions. Action lists and day start/end links and such will be updated/posted throughout the day. Hope you enjoyed!

Yes!!!

Thanks guys for pulling it off! I'm proud of you!

Thanks for hosting pharphis and logout. I had tons of fun. And thanks everybody for playing and not lynching me. I do not thank numbers for NKing me. I'll come back to that one soonish. ;)

Fun stuff guys. SOOOOO close to a win for me. Town definitely didn't deserve to win though, although I don't know if I did. :D

Thoughts: None atm. :D

Zokar: Why the vote swap to me? and what was the theory you had? :P

I apologize to the town for my trigger finger. It was rash and unlike me and it allowed Moar (Vendetta!) to do exactly what I said was logical to do as anti-town day killer and she would have gotten away with it the entire game if the SK hadn't killed her. Can't really blame her though just sigh.

I was told in the dead thread that apparently in a game I missed an anti-town day killer played it like I did and was able to stay alive a long time so apparently I appeared to be using that strategy.

*sigh* And I totally had the scum all nailed on D3 I think, except FoE who was being lurky. :(

Ah well, fun game regardless, but I'm seriously going to be thinking about this for awhile.

Question to the mafia: If I had shot myself one night, and proven that I had a vote restriction as a result, would that have taken the heat off me on your part as far as thinking I was the SK was concerned, or would it have just led to you shooting me again the next night on the assumption that I wouldn't have multiple/consecutive immunities?

Drixx, Im still waiting for your reasoning.

I was totally in error. With the actual knowledge of your role, instead of the townie no idea for sure who is who fog of the game, the wall of quotes just feels lame and inadequate. I made a horrible play. I could make a lame wall of quotes but knowing what I know now, they just look pathetic. That play supplanted my self-kill in the NCIS game as my worst ever play. By far.

I would like to see the reasoning. I've asked many times.

Okay, here goes. I'm warning you now that it feels awfully flimsy in hindsight, but at the time, since I was town and had only my reads to go on, and given that my reads had been pretty spot on the last few games, I felt very sure. In hindsight I'd have pressed you quite a lot instead of just deciding I was right and shooting. Anyway, here goes.

This has become a very interesting first two hours of a game. Throw in FFT is generally associated with Ninjas, if my wiki-ing is correct.

Treating the start of game serious at first.

Are we playing pass the penguin?

My only rule is to have fun!

Edit: Screw the rules!

Two consecutive joke posts. At this point I noted that it seemed like you wanted to be really visible and "normal" looking.

I wouldn't go as far as saying there are multiple possible day kills, but we can definitely assume there is at least one.

Bringing up the idea of multiple day kills when I myself had a day kill really caught my attention.

Or I don't have any day kill powers, which I don't.

Then this post combined with the previous post talking about roles made me suspect you might be rolefishing (very mafia approach)

Why not? What do you think sets it apart from a claim in the middle of today?

Bringing a focus onto Zokar's claim, which I felt would be very disturbing to mafia. Looked to me like you were being opportunistic and using someone else's comment about it to bring it up and get it into discussion.

BA, you still seem to be ignoring the fact that Zokar asked to be shot and fully claimed. I see no reason to not question that.

This seemed really incongruous for your normal need to know, and out of step with the earlier post that looked like you wanted to generate conversation about the claim.

Jobs aren't indicative of alignment but they are still apart of the lore and the game. What I got from Phar's explanation was that jobs aren't indicative of alignment, but could be indicative of ability, which could very well be indicative of alignment.

This post combined with the earlier role fishing was when I first seriously thought you might be a mafia rolecop. This looked to me like you were setting up a way to argue that a job could be mafia (if it suited your purpose to get rid of a town power role) or that the job wasn't indicative of alignment (if one of your teammates had to claim a evil sounding job). This post right here was the big one. It was basically arguing in a circle and really stuck in my mind.

Considering how late it is already and our lack of information, a no-lynch may be in our best interests.

No lynches are only in the best interests of the mafia. Lynching is the town's main power and having no lynch robs the town of information.

I think with how little information we have, it may be better to wait for more, but the case against Ash is pretty decent right now. If we do want to go for a lynch, I'll put a vote out, but for now I shall remain voteless.

Reinforcing the idea of not lynching.

All input is valued! Just when you want to put in your two cents, sometimes it's really just worth 2 cents :P

Ouch.

I doubt there will be a lynch but most others seem to be in favour of Day 1 lynch. Only person I'm willing to vote for is Bad Ash.

?Vote: Bad Ash

This progression from "we shouldn't lynch" to "we shouldn't lynch but if you insist I'll only vote for this one person" to the vote seemed like mafia daytalk pointing out that being against a day 1 lynch is usually viewed as scummy and you walking it back slowly to a vote.

vote: drixx

The vote without reason reinforced my thought from the first day that you might be an anti-town rolecop, and since I was a Black Mage, and you had set up the argument for a job being able to give alignment, I was watching for what you would do. That's why I made a point to be there at the start of day 2.

We shouldn't trust Drixx, ever. That is all.

Reinforced my paranoia that you were setting me up.

No vote drixx.

Some more paranoia.

Yes. Almost every time he's been mafia, he has kissed CG's *** :P

Don't even deny it, Drixx. You know you do it.

The first actual justification for voting me was a joke post.

------------------------------

So yeah ... some out of place looking play in day one with what looked like the following:

1.) Rolefishing
2.) Setting up an idea to use someone's job to argue for or against them as needed.
3.) Trying to convince people not to lynch day one
4.) Some indication of expecting multiple day kills (Spooky for someone who had a daykill)

Then the day 2 where it felt increasingly like you were setting me up to reveal I was a Black Mage and get me killed.

As I said ... it seems really lame in hindsight but at the time I made that post, I was sure. I deflated like a hot air baloon in a blizzard when I saw your flip in my QT.

Good job mafia, you scummy bastards!
Yes!!!

I cannot remember what it was, but right before my first vote for you, something you did made me know you were scum. Just a feeling. I really hoped the day after I was NK'd that the town would take my death as a sign I was on to you. Cant believe you lived so long.

Think I forgot to say earlier, I am fine with posting the mafia QT.

Drixx, I just had to kill you. Damage control and you were giving me something I could argue. Will lasagna let you forget the vendetta?

Oh heeey. Nice win mafia! Thanks for hosting guys.

Town... Man we were all so scummy. Ya had us.

Numbers I was literally torn between you and coju for SK but you talked your way into earning my vote.

Well played though. I believed your retaliation claim for basically the whole time haha.
