I checked my stashes and to my big suprise, I actually do have an awesome candidate. The item has 3x durability, staffmods, +skills and a huge amount of charges. Only the amount of staffmods is bit disappointing, also it is a normal grade weapon :sadface:. I could spend some runes upgrading it, haha. Would it lose triple dura?
Tonight I will try to break the durability and see how high my repairbill gets with and without using the charges:

Have fun whacking things with that orb! It does look like a reasonable candidate except for the fact that is of normal type, not exceptional or elite. Triple durability rates are definitely a consideration. I think having several high-tier +3 staffmods is also a recipe for huge bills. And some item types have higher durability: caduceus at 70, battle cestus at 72, dimensional shard at 50, shillelagh at 40 and all wands are 22 or less. For staffmod armor, the leading candidate for high durability is guardian crown at 55, pelts and heads seem to be all 20. I'll have to look to see if I have any triple durability battle cestuses at some point...

I think you are spot-on about how big rune words in superior bases are going to lead the pack by a lot. In light of that, I suggest splitting the tables into rune word and non-runeword categories as well.

I should split these tables up into categories, but for now I am adding the expense of a full repair on the Beast caduceus with all charges used up, for a total of just a little more than 2 million. I think without the charges being used up it should be pretty good in just the durability category alone. Since I've been using the Ort recipe to repair, I've been using the charges also since that's just a chippie more.

well it was to much work to break all the durability with the attackspeed and accuracy of a sorc, but if it is ok then I could calculate the cost. It costed 328 gold for each durability and 2669 gold for each charge. It seems it is necesary for the weapon to be elite to have any serious repair cost.
calculated this is:
-circa 34440 adena without charges
-circa 154545 adena with charges

Even if it would be ok for me to enter the tournie without actually breaking the weapon, estimating the cost, your crafted caduceus would still win the non-runeword, without charges section.

maybe I will upgrade the orb to exceptional and equip my sorc with some fighterequipment to do a serious attempt later and do break the durability.

with upgrading your item loses its triple durability mod :doh:

looks like I might get the caduceus with the rare exceptional orb. Im not going to upgrade to elite

. I think with an elite class specific triple durability it should be possible to get like 500k

Well done, great efforts in the rare category!

I had no idea about the durability change for the upgrade recipe, that is too bad in this case. I wonder for ethereals what happens and if it could be at all useful...

after repair it had 33/35 durability and the same charges as before repair, so it seems it gets a random amount of durability, just like when dropped. So it might be usuefull with ethereal items.

Remembered that there was funny repaircost tournament and partly from that reason made my Phoenix runeword into increased durability monarch just to see how high repaircost can rise. Monarch was 11ed/14inc durability. Funny coincidence that costs were excatly same than Face's CoH.

I might enter this tourney with my fortitude SSA. Only that thing has 60 durability so it'll probably take forever to actually break..

Same costs were weird indeed. How its actually possible? Did we reach max repair cost in durability only repairing or something?

Monarch also took quite a while until it finally broke. I was questing with two chars, made one pat with p8 almost full clear and almost got second mat p3 settings until it broke.

Quick test with fortitude SSA.
1 point of durability loss cost 34,304 to repair. At 67 dura, it would cost 2298368 to repair the whole thing when it breaks. But it seems that will take a really, really long time ( it's at 66/67 dura now ). Pic

I remember making Delirium in a druid pelt that had +3 Hurricane and +3 Tornado, and it cost something like 100K per point to repair. I could probably compete in this contest if I still had that character.

Ok, here's where I got to right now. Still less than half way through the durability though. That thing is tough!
Also, I wonder how durability loss is actually calculated? Only on physical hits or elemental hits too? What about hits that 'miss' ( which is rather a lot, cause of 20k+ defense.. )

Sheesh, I finally managed to break this thing.
I wonder how durability loss is actually calculated. Elemental damage ( such as gloams ) and other things that skip the hit check calculation don't seem to do it, while frenzy taurs and minions of destruction contribute big time. Of course having 15-20k def makes it difficult for anything else to hit you..
