Three keywords and a little bit of background info please. That way we get to know you at least a little bit and I can write a nice write up about it.

4) Neverwinter Nights
5) Mass Effect (this would be higher but its for the xbox atm, blooming pc not good enough)

was that the sort of background information you were after?

Ah well it's ok. You don't have to go all into details, since I totally respect a certain degree of forumprivacy myself. Thanks for the info. The topic however, you caught completely wrong. It's post-apocalyptic. It's worth it to read all the way back from page one. That way you get to know your competitors and see what write ups have already been written. It's certainly not mandatory, but I just feel like writing a gross story again, so....

:alright:

cloak of shadows.

Strangely enough, as I went farther from the towncenter the buildings looked more and more disintegrated, although the a-bomb actually pretty much hit the centre spot on.
While the lifeless inner city was anything but a lovely place, the outskirts actually had something of the opposite. You had the feeling something was constantly watching you, making for a continuous cold shiver running up your spine. I could hear shrieks and moans coming from the houses as I walked across the broken and cracked up tarmac, wondering whether it was the houses or....something else.

One particular big mansion, just at the border where the suburbs ended, had an even spookier feeling then the rest of the street. It appears that the classical ghost stories at least held some truth, because this mansion had it all. I just got used to the shrieks and moans from down the road, but that all stopped when I got near to this place. Not the tiniest breeze, not a single twig cracking, no rustling of leaves, absolutely nothing.

Another noteworthy fact was that, although the sun shone quite brightly through the cloudless sky, the mansion seemed to absorb all of its light, covering it in a cloak of shadows. It was actually quite hard to watch your steps, because every stone could be a deep pit for all I knew.
It turned out that the path up to the front porch didn't contain any trap of any kind, but the silence did grow more and more intense with every step. Standing before the half opened front door it was as though every sound was absorbed by the air, as if a scream wouldn't get passed your lips. Pushing the door further open, I'd expect it at least to squeak a bit, especially since it took brute force to push it open. But it turned out not to, like it was a brand new door, recently oiled.

As fear took hold of my breath, somebody had to find out what this was all about. Before A-day, a rich porn director had lived here with all the luxury he could afford, but after that disastrous day none had seen him again. That wasn't at all strange, since 97% of the world population had vanished. This house was still quite intact though. Three people have tried to check up on survivors here.... never to return.

The throbbing silence instantly went away upon entering of the house. As if somebody removed a pair of very good earplugs. Immediately a ticking sound could be heard, of something what appeared to be a large clockwork in the livingroom. The whole mansion was designed to have a classic feel, with lots of wooden panels and large stairways.
The clocks sound was a quite hypnotising rhythm compared to the, what looked like an hour long silence. Staring into the hallway, focused on the tick-tock of the clockwork another sound could be discerned, a somewhat rattling sound. Of metal it seemed. Distant at first, but growing louder and louder with every second, which was completely synchronous to the clockworks rhythm. After 30 seconds, fear struck again, but ten times more than before. The rattling of metal actually was an iron body armour, like knights used to wear in medieval times.

The steps started from up the stairs directly above me but as the sound grew stronger the armour strode down the stairs, one step every second.
As soon as the armour took the turn at the stairs I was able to see it, and it saw me too. As the headpiece turned it's head toward me, an invisible force opened the visor. Two very small bright red dots could be seen in an otherwise black, hollow helmet. The armour paused, probably figuring out what to do. Then it dashed towards me, raising a huge axe. The armor covered the long hallway in mere seconds. Fear struck me as I became immovable. Five more meters and it'd get me. Suddenly out of the wall along the hallway, a door slammed open, located beneath the stairway. The dashing armour ran into the heavy door with full power, making it fall apart instantly on the ground in a pile of rubble.

Then a somewhat chubby, dark clad figure came out of the broom closet, whistling an unknown, quite happy tune as it was sweeping the dusty floor with a Noobus 2000, apparently totally unaware of what had just happened.

edit: @Spudnik, you write your own story? I need to get some inspiration first.

Re: Community Forum Mafia Signup - Apocalypse Now

A-Day, What a terrible day that was, I remember the Warning sirens the shrieking of it had unnerved me and the people panicking around me didn't help either. I was on Holiday here when that disastrous day struck, when the bombs started to fall, I though I would die here and now, till a kind soul pulled me down the street into there bunker. I don't Know how much time had passed, but at least I got to know the people I was with.

The Fateful Day came, "It's time we went out into the world, it seems settled" said the Dark looming man who had rescued me, so there he went and opened the bunkers sealed door, in flushed a gust of air and debris, and the smell of death. As we went outside, I knew I wouldn't like what I saw, we saw shrivelled corpses, half-crumbled buildings, over-turned cars, you name it we saw it, I thought I was going to be sick, till he put his hand over my shoulder and told me to breath.
The Dark Looming Man, told us to stay near the bunker whilst he and I went and searched around, along our way through the cracked streets and buildings, we found nothing but destruction and death, we even found an open bunker that looks like no-one managed to get inside quick enough, he said to wait here as he went inside. What seemed like hours stood outside passed, he came out with a scorn on his face, I knew instantly that whoever was in there was dead, but he did bring with him a lot of canned food and dry preserves as well as a bunch of torn clothes that would do us a while, so there we went and trotted back to our bunker, when we got there, however, there was no sign of our fellow survivors, I spotted blood on the floor and on the side of the bunker.. I was getting worried. Mr Tall Dark and Looming went inside to investigate, when he came out he was white as a ghost and threw up. He told me that there were dead, someone had tortured them and skinned them alive before stringing them up.

Just then we had what I could only describe as Victory Yells, they sounded unearthly, from In front of us came deranged wild people, with a look in there eyes that I could only describe as monstrous. Mr Tall Dark and Looming told me to run and don't look back, so I did, all I heard was screams, from that Point on I knew I would be in trouble..."
