But if alvls were lower in 1.07 wouldn't this mean that the same algorithm could be used and explain why some items can get affixs that don't seem possible based on their ilvl? Is there a way to see what the alvls are for affixes in 1.07?
I checked those. There are about 5 affixes that have a different Alvl.

And those are.....? Thanks. Unless the ones that are different are IAS and cruel it would appear that the alvl creation algorithm is different in 1.07 and I for one have absolutely no idea how you'd go about finding what it actually is.

1.07 continues to baffle with crafts--I made 19% LL heavy gloves this weekend (but forgot to bring the ATMA readout to work). Crazy good on a Sacrifice paladin, no?

Assassin update: Finished normal without breaking a sweat. I think I used 12 full rejuvs the whole game. Currently sporting 2 claws that top out at 55 physical damage or so, but a +2 shadow hat/+2 shadow prismatic amulet, and +3 shadow combined on the claws gives me significant claw damage with max'd claw mastery. Much slower in NM, but I think that switching over to javelins against dangerous monsters will be helpful with BoS or Venom. The two CtC Chain Lightning rare rings I donned at L33 are fun and relatively effective--they give me about 40% LR/20% CR and some minor LL and other mods as well, so the light show ends up just being gravy.
Shadow Master is at 7 (14 with the +skills) and dominates monsters packs when she doesn't get lost. The A1 Merc took off the Venom Ward for Darkglow and is using a short bow w/1-161 lightning + 25-50 poison/4sec bow over Skystrike. I found a great hat for the merc with 10% FHR/20% FR/15% LR and a socket: the only problem is that it's rlvl is 9 and I don't want to socket a 20% LR/7% FHR jewel into it since it will raise the rlvl to 37 making it less attractive for twinking on my next 4 builds' merc. Well, I guess it isn't that big of a problem.

After maxing SM, I'll be pumping Claws of Thunder for an elemental source of damage. Seeing how bogged down my Strafeazon has become in A2 (Itchies, Ghosts, and 2 out of 3 bosses sporting PI), I am concerned that normal and NM will lead me down the primrose path of physical damage and high level summonables getting wrecked by regular boss packs, much less act bosses. Duriel doesn't scare me because the bug loves him some Decoy, but Mephisto is an axe over the Strafeazon's head.

Easy one. Circlets have a magic_lvl of 10 in 1.07, which in the 1.09 formula leads to Alvl 65 for that Circlets, thus +3 skills (Alvl 60) may spawn.

That's pretty interesting. What are the magic_lvl for coronets, etc? Generally, which magic_lvls are different from 1.10+ ?

I must say, apart from the challenge (which is generally none with cold mastery at a decent level), I find 1.07 much intriguing :grin: So much to explore still, and it's the oldest version of LOD :shocked:



 
I finally got 1.07 running like a well oiled machine. Found a ton of nice stuff, got few characters up to lvl 80 and so on. I gave myself a few months break since it can get a little tedious doing rack running (I was in one map with several interesting racks). Anyway... How would an eth 1.07 skullder upgrade to balrog skin in 1.11b? 250%ED and the eth bonus reapplied sounds pretty sweet.

Sorc is soon lvl 60 (LK map spawns with a shrine which is easy to check without getting "off route" and sometimes it's a gem or exp shrine. If it's a exp shrine, I go do ~half a bloodrun). I wonder if she's hell ready. I won't go to hell yet, because I would lose the LK map, but when I do rack a skullder or two, I'll be happy to venture on.

However!

Ingame, the MF is shown as GOLD FIND (which I haven't gotten around to testing yet, but it pisses me off anyway) and the repair dura is shown as PER SECOND. The per second part is the item lying straight to my face, as when I watch the dura go up, it's per 4 seconds, just as ATMA tells me.

Any code-diggers care to explain?

EDIT: The goldfind from skullder's doesn't seem to work. More testing required to check if it works as MF or if it's just plain broken.

EDIT2: Wearing skullders and 3piece sigons (50%mf from boots) sends me EXACTLY to 127% MF if skullders GF is in fact MF. And guess what? 4 set items and one rare from meph on first try. Very strong indication that the game lists some bonuses (or at least two bonuses on this one item) incorrectly.

EDIT3:
Second run: 4 sets, 2 rares
Third run: 6 rares (!)

EDIT4: After a few more runs, changing out skullders for Spirit Shroud, that allowed normal magic items to drop. With the skullder, they're all double dura. I'm now 98% certain that ATMA has skullders stats correct while the game shows them wrong.

That's in the 1.07 FAQ, it's just a string display error.

I have a few more items I'd like to add to the "makes you cry in 1.07" section, namely Rockfleece (no %DR and lame colour) and The Ward (no resists!!)

EDIT: The fact that all orbs have a magic level of 5, shouldn't that make crafting a +3 skill tab one just that much easier? You'd only need ilvl 55 I think... So that means lvl 84 vs lvl 91 for +3 tab amulets.

I did some calculations on crafting TMauls, and this might inspire some people:

TMaul base damage when forwarded to 1.09+ = 33-180

Perfect roll on greater blood craft: 80%ED
Perfect cruel: 300%ED
Perfect grandmaster's: 200%ED
Perfect "of evisceration": +60max
40%IAS
3sox from larzuk, fills with 40%ED/15IAS jewels.

Now we're looking at a weapon that does 264-1500 damage, and reaches the last WW breakpoint!!! :shocked:

Of course, GL getting the ingredients for greater recipe, but the lesser one is only 13% ED behind IIRC.

I know what that's like. I just got done with a map that spit up a
Grandfather (and more BK than I care to recall), Griswold's Honor, Tal Rasha's Guardianship and Aldur's Deception. The trick is with the exception of Aldur's Deception and a lot of green Colossus Blades it was stingy until I stopped playing for a few months and started playing again, heh...

By the way this is my latest find. I doubt many people remember but I've been trying to get a Saracen's Chance for a while now. This is why this deserves a story darnit! After I got my latest gold amulet (a Cat's Eye from Baal) I got fed up and decided to to use the prismatic amulet recipe (I've been reading up on on cubing unique and set amulets and rings, either I missed that previously or it just wasn't something people were doing) and I had already cubed a Cathan's Seal and got real lucky (on my fourth try/last try at the time) and got a Iratha's Collar (if you can call that lucky, I'd prefer any other green).

So, I took my level 86 Barb and I start cubing amulets. I don't really know how many attempts I made, but I wasn't getting anything that interesting (one yellow) and I was starting to get low on flawless gems. Then this happened:

I would have expected the resists to be better but I'm not sure what a regular Saracen's would be like anyway. In either case I'm very happy and I have a pretty unique amulet :grin:



 
Congrats on the sarachen! Horrible roll, though (according to RTBs table, that recibe can spawn a lot more res than that just from the automods).

I don't know how many times I ran that goddamn russet armor rack (the rack was in NM, so it kept me from hell runs) and the first unique it decided to drop was ofc venom ward.....
 
Oh 1.07, you frustrate me so...

I tried to install TrenShadow's version switcher after improperly installing 1.11 and not being able to go back to 1.07. It didn't work, but I'll worry about it later. So I cleaned up the computer (defrag took over an hour) and reinstalled. Character files were fine, so I took my Strafeazon out for a spin. I was waiting to kill Duriel and move on to A3 in Hell for goodies, and pushed on to The Counsel. MF is 30% or so with Goldwrap for the IAS. Duriel gives me no drop (not even bolts), the racks and chests in LK suck, and The Counsel gave me 1 blue and less than 5000 gold with Death that ups gold drops 75%. Since I'd already dropped 250k in merc ressurections, I wrapped that session up before Mephisto drained my bank account.

So I pull out the MF sorc for a quick reroll of LK after an imbue on some white Feral Claws (they were garbage). The LK map comes out with 2 campfires and 7 racks, and within 10 minutes I get a Harpoonist's GC of Life with +19 life. So all is right in the universe again. Can't wait to check out the various combinations on running all those racks.
 
My current run goes about like this (1 fire map)
- Armor rack (drops defenders, wyrmhides, chain boots, and occationally archons and dusks)
- 2 superchests
- Armor rack (drops 100% diadems)
- Superchest
- Weapon rack (very unstable, but bone knives, champion axes, great poleaxes, legendary mallets and decapitators are amongst the variations)
- Armor rack (usually akaran targes, but sharkskin belts drop from time to time)
- Weapon rack (ogre maul and matriarchal pike being the most common)
- WP

I'm aiming for some nice skill hats (3skill 20fcr ones) and ofc the set diadem. Rares should drop 6 out of 1k runs (no griffon) so that's also a possible reward.

Also, wyrmhides, archons and dusks have good potential if they get 15%ED and 3 or 4 sockets. Even white.
