These Stickies are Made for Reading Thread - Summer 2007 i

Yes, and my Mage is no where near ready to handle something like that on her own. :azn: I just remembered her pouches are still full of stuff, I haven't been on yet today.

I was actually up for another two hours after we logged off, went to bed at 4am. When I woke up this morning, I thought the clock said it was just past 730pm so I got out of bed. Then I realized it was still morning and only had three and a half hours of sleep.

Your mage will never be able to handle something like that on her own, instances are meant for group plan and not solo play unless you are a high level running through a low level instance. Actually, when you are on your 55-70 level range you might be able to run through there by yourself. Deadmines is meant for the level 15-22 or so range in a group but most stay out until 18 or so.

Another point I noticed about you when you did not take the minor mana potion, you should take it anyways for two reasons, either use it in an emergency if you are out of all other things or sell it on the AH. Someone always can use things you aren't making use of, and selling stuff will net you money so that you can buy the things you need.

This gets more and more important down the road because your class skills will get expensive, and so your profession skills. Recipies for (Tailoring, Enchanting, Alchemy, Blacksmithing, etc,.) are always for sale on the AH, and they get expensive.

You should go and learn all three secondary professions, talk to a guard and ask the locations for the First Aid, Fishing and Cooking Trainers. Go to the AH and get a greater magic wand, it's a ranged weapon that uses no mana or ammo, a must for mages and priests.

Also go to the Dwarven District of Stormwind and pick up any quests there, and look for the Deeprun Tram, that will take you to the City of Ironforge, a new place for you to visit.

Fifty-five to seventy? That's going to be a while yet, it's going slow as it is. As for the Deadmines, I was having a hard enough time at level 15 doing the quest I was in the middle of. Now that that one's done, the next group are even higher level and I don't think that's going to fare well for me right now. I have to go back to Stormwind anyway, for the next level of skills. That should help a little bit, at least with killing speed/damage.

I don't use the health or mana potions right now mainly because my conjured food and water restore life/mana more than enough at the moment. Those other things just take up room in my bags. I always sell the things I don't need or can't use.

I read briefly about disenchanting(?) items to get regeants or whatever, and as far as I understand I only need to worry about the green or red(?) titled items. But then I was thinking about something you said last night and was wondering how I would know if it's worth trying to put up on the AH or just use them to work on my enchanting skills? I haven't read much about the AH yet, and only vaguely understand how it works right now. I'll do that sometime later.

Since I have to go back to Stormwind anyway, I'll take a look around the Dwarven District and try to find those other trainers. I think my tailoring profession is about able to go to the next skill level.

Ah ha! I figured out part of why you die so fast, the health and mana potions are instant use. They work in combat, and will often save your life. The conjured stuffs are for when you are out of combat. Bandages work both ways. For instance, the heavy linen ones will restore a large amount of your life, but you need to stand still to use one, so it you are low on health and under attack, encase the enemy in ice or sheep them, and then back off a bit and use a bandage.

What I meant about the 55-70 thing is that that's if you want to hit that particular instance by yourself - and for kicks. Instances are not for solo play, they are meant for certain level ranges and a full group. You may need to do some grinding too Grinding is what we call killing the same set of monsters in an area solely for getting exp and drops. Did you know that you get more exp in a group than doing it solo? Keep an eye on the chat channels, if someone is doing a quest you are, then it.

As a mage in a group your place is in the rear ranks casting spells while the tank (usually warrior or Paladin) keeps the monsters off of you. You may also be asked to sheep targets for crowd control.

I didn't know those are instant use. I tried to use them before, but it required me stopping to open the bag to access them, which took too long. Using my conjured stuff was faster. I usually try to freeze enemies first, I haven't tried using the polyporph(?) skill yet.

I know about grinding, and I know I would get more experience in a group than playing solo. I prefer to play solo though, I haven't seen many people there I would even bother try talking too. I have gotten party invites before, but I've always declined them.

I went online for a few minutes tonight. I started my trek towars Stormwind when I remembered could just take a Griffon and save myself ten minutes of walking time. I've learned all the skills I can for my level now, for both of my professions. I haven't gone to find the trainers for the secondary professions yet.

You know you can drag things out of your bag and put them into the actionbars in the left right and bottom of the screen? Then you can use things with a click. You can enable the action bars via the interface options menu.

You know, they have whole forums for this... suckiness notwithstanding...

Nuts, I agree with Dondrei. Is civilization about to collapse?

Civ II?! Slacker; I'm on IV. Have to say I do prefer the older stuff. Less complex.

I ran Lynn through the Deadmines lastnight.

Fun instance, kinda tough when in the right lvl. Some nice items (for that lvl) that drops there as well...

We did Gnomeraigan yesterday.... booring and to know I have to go back for some more q:s there

I do also prefer older games. New ones just have soooo much graphics that slows them down. Gameplay>Graphics.

Oh I whole heartedly agree that Gameplay > Graphics. Still love Elite. Although I am haunted by my first experience with the Tribbles. Anyone remember an old C64 or A1200 game called "Omega" you programmed a tank to remotely kill stuff. Fantastic game by Origin. I seriously need to set up the older stuff.

My machine is capable of running the newer stuff (half a gig graphics card FTW) but so much is "pretty" and rubbish. Or too complex.

Only quarter of a gig here, still enough to run pretty much anything as long as I don't max out the details etc. I just can't see the point of having a game in which perfect drawn leaves fly by, leaving perfect animated shadows on the nearby persons cheek. If I want to see a perfect world, I simply turn my head away from the screen. :azn:
Mario games are still awesome!

Never got into Mario, LorveN. Do you remember Quedex?

I do get somewhat annoyed with games that cannot be run on newer hardware. I seem to have a load of computers to run stuff that newer computers can't cope with.

I was particularly confused to learn I had to turn my graphics card hardware accelleration off to run Theme Park because it slowed it down!

Everyone bags on Gnomer, but I kinda like it.

Also, Gorny, what is your main?

Absolutely no idea. Never heard of, even googled, but never rang a bell. Mario games are awesome, so simple, yet so addictive!

Rather like Tetris.

I can remember playing Frontier pretty much for days straight. Amazingly I always preferred Gunship on the C64 to the Amiga. Have you ever played Jak & Daxter on the PS2 or Ratchett & Clank (which I feel is better). I'm still smarting about accidentally wiping my save on xmas when trying to load it, hit the wrong button and saved over it. :banghead:
