Conqueror Cosmo, 1.11 vanilla HC naked Druid

This is pretty much amazing. How long are these areas taking?
I timed a couple areas back in Hell Act 3. Durance2 took about 2 hours. According to screenshot time-stamps, Icy Cellar was about an hour. Ancients were 25 minutes (16 minutes spent on Korlic).

Wow. Past the Ancients. I thought for sure you would bite it there. Those guys bring down most of my twinked characters, I can't even ponder doing them nude.
Against the Ancients, I always go with the basics, no matter what character I play. Divide them, slow them, use CB.

Any advice for the 'divide' portion of "divide and conquer"? - I've never fully discovered a reliable strategy in SC (i.e. mostly luck), and I've got a potential battle comming up in NM (assuming I make it that far - I'm dabbling in HC atm).

and I don't want to even consider what Hell Ancients will be like yet. :undecided:

The easiest way is to use Teleport charges found on circlets/amulets or a staff on weapon-switch. The staff is shoppable if you're patient. Lure a couple Ancients to the extreme bottom edge, and zip up to the top. It works best if your merc/minion is occupying them on the edge, so you'll get a head-start. Another method is selective monster slow combined with fast running. 50% slowing is your target (boss cap), found on several common items (e.g. General's Flail). Merc can also apply it with Woestave/Kelpie/Riphook etc... Holy Freeze and/or Decrep will slow them further.

Ultimately it comes down to luck and you might need several laps to succeed. If you manage to leave all 3 behind (fairly common) creep back towards them slowly (watch your minions!). When you're close, you can blindly fire arrows/throw weapons/cast a ranged spell to flush one out.

Quiet entry into the WSK, but not for long...
Vile Witches! The kind that scatter and amp. Looks like Cosmo and pals will be Cursed the whole level.
I teased them over, so ravens could shut them down. We also attracted Soul Killers (melee flayers) and their shamen, blinding and killing them near the entrance. So far so good.

The wolves chose a path, and I followed, into the first wing. A massive onslaught hit my pets, killing them, and I saw a flash of Fanaticism. I pulled back, and the first boss pack followed: Dragon Killer defilers. A second boss flew in, a witch sporting the fanat aura and also named Dragon Killer! :confused2: Weird. Some boss names are pretty common (like Vile Bender the Axe...) but I've never seen two consecutive like that. Guess it was bound to happen. DK#2 flew away to save her skin, past the entrance deep into unexplored area. I let her go, for now...

Those boss packs were only the tip of the iceberg. Boss pack 3 was a pack of CE Might Defilers, joined quickly by a fourth boss pack (defilers again) in a huge mob. Wow, a quadruple boss pack! A few steps later, another boss pack. lol, bring 'em on!

We finished that wing, and moved to the next, where I saw DK#2 fly into. There she is, and there she goes... getting past me again into the third unexplored wing. I stayed in the middle wing and finished it easily, encountering only a handful of witches and a weak defiler pack. I'm still doing mostly p7. I'm sure I won't hit level 89, but I want to maximize my drops because as a single-pass player, I don't get to see Hell WSK drops very often.

Final wing, I caught up with DK#2 yet again. She backed off, lending her aura to LE Extra Strong flayers which promptly killed the wolves/merc in the time it took to grab the screenie. (Speak of the devil, it's boring ol' Vile Bender the Axe). Nothing can stand up to Cursed/Fanat/Extra Strong. I had to run out the main door and regroup.

We got DK#2 on our next attempt, pinning her in a corner. At last, WSK1 is safe for dragons...
Boss#8 was a shaman. I gave him a wide berth, respectful of his long-range Inferno.

I don't know how I've managed to miss this thread this far.. :embarassed: Luckily I was still in time to add my wishes for a happy ending, and respect for this amazing feat! We definitely need that worship smiley...

As stated before, it's just unbelievable how you handle the frenzytaurs. My mercs usually get their butts kicked by a single, regular one, not to even think about champs or bosses like yours.

Ok u can really scare me i dont know how u do this first naked zon now naked druid. All my friends think u bugged ur gear and im just ignoring them they r stupid but i really think this is awsome i hope u make it.

P.S. i never have tried hardcore i die too much in softcore =) hope u kill baal and sc it(throw in some punches like u did with the zon that was pretty funny).

Wow, now this is a feat. I wanna say congrats on getting Cosmo that far and have one question. Have you ever thought of putting a point into wearbear for +50% life? It'll give you another boost.

Jemali's life pool is so big (~4300), he can solo a regular frenzytaur without going into hit recovery. That's the key. He can absorb its best shot, and keep dishing out his own damage. Timely raven blinding shuts down the frenzy attack. And I make sure Jemali lands a Kelpie shot for slowing. A slowed/chilled frenzytaur moves like molasses, each frame is clearly visible.

Against bosses/champs, the wolves must do all the tanking, but the slowing still helps. Large packs must be broken up. Three at a time, four tops.

I thought about it, but as a bear I wouldn't have access to elemental skills I use a lot. That's a build that would take me in a different direction, but probably viable. Perhaps 1 point werebear, max lycanthropy, max shockwave.

Best of luck from here in. Just amazing how well you've been able to do so far. Congrats...even if you don't finish it's still well deserved.

WSK level 2 had one of the most laughable monster rolls I've seen: boars, poison mages, and mummies! Wow, very leisurely considering the horrific altertnatives. p7 all the way. The only challenge was avoiding poison and occasional elemental mods. Baal's phantom attacks (followed by his laughter) hurt me more than anything else. The lightning in particular killed my armor and took off hundreds of life. After he caught me snoozing a couple times, I was more careful to move around a lot and nudge the sage as well.

As usual, the wolves regularly succumbed to poison attacks. No problem, wolves are cheap. We had a minor rough spot against some champion boars, after they received a fanaticism boost.

Although the battles lacked zest, the drops made up for it. From some lowly scrub, a golden scourge appeared at my feet! I've never seen one before, but I'm vaguely aware of two different versions. The decent one, and the (much rarer) godly one. I suppose that for MFers, finding a gold scourge is like being dealt 4 cards of a royal flush. You know you're probably not going to like your end result, but you sure came close, and it was exciting! This was one of those cases:

Horizon's Tornado
Scourge
One-Hand Damage: 11 to 296
Durability: 58 of 65
Required Dexterity: 62
Required Strength: 100
Required Level: 64
Mace Class - Fastest Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 85
Fingerprint: 0x525fe0e0
+271% Enhanced Damage <--- (good roll)
Requirements -20%
50% Increased Attack Speed
150% Damage to Undead
Slows Target by 20%
20% Chance to cast Level 15 Tornado on striking

Level 3 was considerably tougher, with a stairtrap of knights and boars. I was spread pretty thin for that fight. It was difficult with those curses raining in. The boars that snuck behind me required constant blinding (they are immune to boulder knockback). Blood bosses made an appearance, whipping the boars and converting some of them into useless bombers, robbing me of experience and drops! One hallway had four unique blood bosses in a row. None were difficult.

Speedy flayers and knights were the true challenge. Oblivion knight packs came in bunches, driving us back. There is one benefit in fighting multiples: IM curses are instantly overwritten by another curse. Thankfully, no champ knights and only one boss.

Almost at the finish Wayne.. Good Luck! I dread to think of what Lister and his buddies will be like

Gogo, Insane Wayne! Best of luck to you with the last part. I'm awaiting a great final write-up, be sure to take many screenshots! :)

Once again, good luck IW. Don't worry about PI bosses, Superdave got rid of them all, with Bartuc, Ventar and Lister all being stone skin!

PS Make sure you tell us the ending

The boss abyss knight pack in mid-Act 4 was my worst NDE. They blind-sided me with their ranged attacks and I lost 80-90% of my life in a second. Also the blood-chilling blind run (twice) through the Disused Fane in Hell Act 3 deserves a mention. I squeaked though dense monster packs with Fanaticism, Might... the works.

It's hard to pick the best drop. I'd have to say Kelpie Snare, because the slowing made it possible to withstand some very tough bosses including PI Hell Hephasto and that PI Extra Strong frenzytaur boss in the Ancients' Way at p7. My number one goal is full clears with no monster-parking/map rerolls.
