Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge

Two questions.

1) In addition to what's in my stash, I know I'm allowed to 'pickup' an item and imbue it. However, does 'pickup' include an item purchased from a vendor for the sole purpose of the imbue quest, or is it only items found from monsters/chests/etc.?

2) Also, I've had another look at the rules, and tried a couple of thread-searches - I didn't see anything mentioned about re-running areas for experience. Is this allowed? (I haven't done it yet, but I can see it may come up in later acts).


Fun tourney, btw. Gertrude is rolling along quite nicely (Inner Cloister WP).

As it is nowhere stated in the rules that it's not allowed, I presumed it is, and I already ran a few areas more than once.



 
All the rule clarifications made in the last few posts are 100% correct.

Also, a little reminder: when you send along your character, don't forget to mule off your gold :cool:
 
I haven't sent Ignatow on to EJB yet, but have no plans to rerun any areas. I just don't want the poor guy to be overwhelmed before he finishes his work. :(

No hurry. I finally get a chance to play tonite(sunday) on my first char. so no rush at all...run the countess for some more Rals...

Edit:Don't feel sorry for my work week...I love it...I work 6 out of 7 days then have SEVEN off...I only work 12 days in 4 weeks...

Gertrude (aka Aunt Gertty) made it Lut Golein without difficulty (I think I had to drink 2 potions in one battle :shocked:). Also, my imbue was fantastic - Charsi gave me over 2k gold for it! :grin:

I'll forward the character to Waflob later in the week.

Frost has defeated Andariel. Not too notable of a battle, just had to travel to town once to unpoison merc after using up my antidotes. I'll hold onto him for a couple days in case I get the urge to build up a rune stash.

I am almost certain I won't be seeing him again in the tournament. My apologies in advance sirpoopsalot, he's quite a doozey:shocked: .
 
Dickinson also made it to Lut Gholein, was a bit of a struggle in the start, but as soon as I managed to get some equipment on it was a breeze. I'll also be holding on to her for a few days to farm the Countess, hopefully she'll give me enough Rals and Tals to last to the end of the Tourney :smiley:
 
Kenyon (Sorceress) has finished off Andariel and is collecting runes from the countess. One thing is evident about this event. It should be real easy in the early going. I have never had equipment like this in Act 1. Once she had a few levels under her belt, she was unstoppable. This was a new experience for me because I have never gotten into "Twinking".

I also seldom replay any areas to get better items. With all the spare time available in this tournament, I will be looking for good opportunities for that. Unfortunately, the only items that can be used are socket fillers, so that usually eliminates the purpose of the replay. By the way, one of my countess runs resulted in four runes!(Eld, Eld, Eld, Eth) Does anyone know how many runes is the max that she will drop?

I will probably wait until Thursday to send Kenyon on to her next sponsor. It is too bad that there isn't some practical way to determine when everyone is done. I expect that the results of any tabulation method would only result in finding out that there will always be a few who are just finishing at the end of the week anyway.

She can drop up to 6 runes!
Her TC is quite complicated, she drops from two different TC: "Countess item" and "Countess rune". Both of them contain runes, but in Countess Item TC, the chance for a rune is small, similar to any other superunique dropping up to 5 items (as Nihlathak). At first 5 picks for "Countess Item" are made, then 3 picks for "Countess rune" are made.. Both contains some no-drop probabilities and any monster can't drop more than 6 items, so it's better to run Countess at lower Player settings, because there is a better chance that all three "Countess rune" checks are made.

But in the end you can really get 6 runes from her.

I have heard that 6 is the max, three rune drops from herself, and the three items that drop need to be roled as a rune as well. pretty rare. My max is also 4 runes. (EDIT: beaten by the mod! :smiley: )

I think that indeed the start is easy going, but once we get further, I think the week is perfectly fine, or even short for some people.

Indeed... here at the start, everyone can pretty much fly along quickly... that'll be the case for the first few weeks. But even then, some people have work, school, etc. that gets in the way. Things get dicier in NM, once the going gets slower and the builds (sometimes) get weirder :cool:



 
By the way... if you are listed in the tournament table, and you have NOT received your stash at this point, please let me immediately. Everyone should have it by now.

(and if you received a stash and don't wish to play after all, you will be fed to teh squid)
 
HD has also made it past Andariel, with relative ease on /p 8.
I'll maybe farm the Countess for some runes, but otherwise she'll be sent on to Butzull towards the end of the week.

I can only do so many runs, and Sidney had pretty good luck, with Tals and Rals, etc, so after we defeated Andariel, Sidney is on the way to Freekje.
 
Eliot is in the Stoney Fields. Finally got up to a decent level to be able to wear some clothes. I'll try not to be the slowpoke of the tournement :undecided:

But, it's been fun so far.

I was thinking it might be fun to be able to track the history of all these guys once they drop out of the tourney. So I was going to take screenies of all of the naked characters I play just before they are passed on and the one that inevitably ends up dead (stat screen at least and maybe skill trees). Or just write down stats and skills since the screenshots probably wouldnt be that neccassary. Once a character is out of the tourney maybe we could post a time lapse of their progression in a separate thread? I'd be happy to organize this if we needed a person to do so.

If *everyone* did this, then it would be fun... we'd have records of every character. Of course, that means three screenies per character (3 for skill trees, 1 of which would need to have the stat screen open).

When a character dies, if you have screenies for them, send them to Brak. He can whip up a little biography for each corpse.
