yes exile might be bm but it is without a doubt the best melee shield, if you don't think so, prove it... until then shut up about exile not being the best melee shield

We're on USWEST, and since palapk is on East (so I hear), this duel won't be happening. Either stop this flame war or take it to another thread. Not one constructive statement has come from the last 10 replies. It's simply more of the same self-indulgent "palapk 0wnz 4ll n every1 else is n00b" talk that we hear all too often on these forums without any base for it. Since it won't ever be resolved due to the different realms issue, help everyone's blood pressure by refraining from doing this in the future. Thank you.

Stoutwood, you made a nice guide. I played many many hours of zealot pvp in 1.9 and kinda quitted in 1.10. After all my experiments with palavspala zeal/charge and ocasionally smite ^^ duels i came to the conclusion that the richest zealot always wins in the end.
Sad maybe, but true. Play skills arent that hard to master, the skills are the same, so whats left is how you outfit your pala. The one with the best equipment and mathematically the better pala wont win always, but will win more often.
My favourite build in 1.9 was a Sheaffer zealot. Back then I could beat almost every pala in Europe without using eth rune. The setup was like this:
gaze/sheaffers/raven/craftring/gore/hl/craftgloves/string/ediasarmor
the funny thing was i had some of the nicest cruel ethreals in the realm and ended up beating ppl with a sheaffers
anyway, what i wanted to say was: i will try to equip my zealot again the way he was and see what he will do in 1.10. I post the resluts here, tough I doubt those 1.9 ideas will still work now
From what I checked concerning pvp, the best weapon in 1.10 for any physical zealot is, on paper, ethreal deathcleaver 280% zod.

hey stout nice guide, but i think theres one helm that deserves a mention. Don't worry you can be excused for forgetting about it as its IMHO the most underated helm ever made.
Guilliams face: If this thing had dmg reduction or 2 sockets i think we would see it MUCH more often! i mean 30% faster hit recovery, decent def, DEADLY STRIKE, a nice str bonus, and 35% crushing blow (hey damage is damage) adds up to a decent helm if you can make up for its lack of damage reduction elsewhere (ie using an SS like you suggest)
also its cheap! so the zealot on a budget can easily afford one!
Hell ill even use this in pvm where i dont need the dmg reduce of my gaze

Many people believe that fallacy that you have to be rich to win duels in games like this. I concede that it makes building a paladin a bit easier to have funds coming out of every orifice, but if you don't have the runes to get good gear, then you will have to make up for it with ORIGINALITY. This term has lost quite a bit of meaning in the days when cookie cutters rule Diablo. However, I can guarantee to every one of you that I have taken down some of the best zealots on USWEST consistently using the cheapest gear imaginable. I can assure you that the most expensive item on that paladin was a Fury Cryptic that I've had since 1.08. Expensive gear can be impressive, but it's not always the best. That was the entire purpose behind this guide.

im a good example of that..
my shield cost less then one rune.
my weapon cost 1 rune only.
my armor cost me 3.
helm , free, i found it.
boots / belt , free.
gloves, free.
thats a total of 5 rune or so for a entire setup, which beats most anyone.
most exile cost 5-6 rune. ......

Yes you are right, right now i was in game and some pally with doom, coh, shako and some other stuff dueled me, i killed him in 2-3 hits and he's like wtf you owned me and your gear sucks!!!! and im like yea my geat cost less than 5 runes so he's like ROFLMAO and then he tries to smite me but gets owned. then he's like man stone sucks its only good for barbs... well gg, thats the usual zealot from pubbies...
