Zealot PvP Guide

Just my 2 cents here:
Armors that should be added:
new runeword (the cool one, dunno name, prudence meh thinks)
4 sock/fhr-life plates with the following jewels in them: ed/str-ed/life-ed/fhr-ed/ele dmg (i got a 156ed/4-323 light dmg plate, and it roxxors)




And one thing i have found to be true on my zealot: hoz+verdungo's (14-15%)+ ber ber 15% dmg red CoA > Storm build, been testing a lot with my zealot lately, and i have found this build to be the most efficient.

Both of the new armors were included in the guide. As for 4-socket 1.09 armors, I find those to be outdated to the point of uselessness. They have no defense to speak of (500 defense is hardly competitive), and because of this you will be getting hit to often to land one of your undoubtedly damaging hits. The only way to compensate for this is to use Exile, which is an option that I deplore.

Now your suggested build is very similar to what a lot of the zealots on USWEST use. If thats an ethereal zak then I say its a fine setup. Otherwise give an Alma Negra a try and see how you do with that. Almas were certainly designed with melee characters in mind, so give them a shot.

Myth Sword : 60 % ias "

I forgot to factor in the -25% target defense on BoTD, so that changes the number to 35% CtH, which on average means you'll connect on 17 out of 50 Zeal's. 75% block drops the chance to 8.8% (4.5 out of 50 Zeal's connecting), so I'm having extremely hard time believing 35 out of 50 Zeal's hitting, especially when the quoted reason for that is range 1 weapon...

Guillaumes is one of my favorite helms too, though usually for pvm purposes. So Old skool.

I have my Eth Death Cleaver, 276% :clap: :clap: , I still need an additional 20% IAS as you discussed. I see myself getting it 1 of 2 places. From highlords ammy which is a very good potential right now OR from some crafted 20% IAS dual stat blood gloves. I realize that the best way is to play around with this to see what works best for me but I have to wait for ladder to end haha. I'm worried about not hitting so I'm kind of leaning towards the angelic combo with the crafted blood gloves. Give me your opinion on this matter, I am really interested. Otherwise I love the guide and thanks for your time and efforts from all

To Qor and inkdagger: I realized that I forgot the Guillames about 1 hour after I posted this guide. Its a great Deadly Striker helm, especially when paired up with the gloves. Speaking of which:

Plus this combination just looks plain wicked. guillames face reminds me of some evil bastard from the move "time bandits", and is guaranteed to make your opponents piss in their pants. all the better to humiliate them with.

Thanks for giving this set the credit it deserves. Crushing blow is nothing to scoff at either, stout. It might not amount to a massive amount of damage but the initial cb hit can resuly in a win for the user.

CB is geared more for PvM. In PvP it removes 1/10 of the health of the player. So basically for a 2000 life paladin is would take about 200 life out. This is rather negligible in most duels, however you are right that 200 damage can sometimes make a difference between winning and losing. It's still not worth making a build around though. At most it's a handy side bonus.

True, it is definatelky a pvm oriented mod, but i remeber the days when people would laugh at a pruby shako, only to lose to me while i had 38 life left.

crushing blow can decide certain duels, and shoudnt be completely neglected is all i'm sayin'.

EDIT: i gotta side with belth on one thing though, that lower range = more hits thing just doesn't make sense. Unless you can read the mpq's, I'd say an in-game test is a bit innacurate.

Aw don't be so hard on them Brian. Most of them take the advice well enough. The only exceptions are the people who don't want to believe stuff that has been tested and proven. I have to ask you gentlemen, how do you think fcr, fhr, and ias breakpoints were discovered? How do we know that there is a 95% cap on OW, DS and CB? How does anyone know which mods work with what skills? Its not on Arreat Summit bub. Someone had to go into the game and test it. We tested it using standard gear that most zealots have. I've tested it enough, and dueled enough, to know that that is how it works. Either way, if you don't want to believe it, that's your privilege. You can lead a child to knowledge, but you cannot make him think.
