"You Learn Something New Everyday"

I have been playing Diablo for years but I just noticed last night that Atma in act 2 heals your char! Why have I never noticed that before! There have been a few times where poison killed my merc because I couldn't tp to town and get to Fara in time! Atma will solve that problem. Am I the only one who didn't know this?

I think I picked up on that when reading the rules for the No Life tourney (or whatever one it was that you weren't allow to do anything that would restore your life except gain new levels).

But along this same vein, I just learned a couple of days ago that you can move the mini-map with the arrow keys. I didn't know that before.

new about moving the mini map had no clue about atma healing me up that is kinda cool

Did you know that if your holding an item with the clicker while you save and exit, that same item will be transfered into the new game?
Usefull if meph drops too much goodies :)

Atma heals you? Gotta try that out sometime. By the way, the merc doesn't die from poison if you are in town. He goes down to 0/max hp but doesn't die.

EDIT: Post # 500 Halfway to 1000.

are you sure magicboy? I recall my merc dying in town a couple times, just before I reach the town healer

it's wierd... the merc's not supposed to die in town, but it seems to happen sometimes...

... thinking back on it, I'm wondering if this was something to do with the 1.11 upgrade. I remember the merc running around town, poisoned with 0hp when I played 1.10, but I don't remember the merc doing that in 1.11. [/speculation]

Mercs will notoriously die to poison, in town, or outside it.

Did you know the Gargoyle Trap things in the catacombs are 1000% cold resistant in hell? ...Don't think it's ment to be broken :badteeth:

The Arcane Sanctuary says under hirelings in the basics menu that
Hirelings will die of poison if you do not heal them.
No exception is made for towns. Furthermore, since poison damage will continue to damage you while inside of town, it stands to reason it will also continue to work on, and eventually kill, the hireling.

I have no idea where people get the idea a hireling cant die of poison when in the village. Whenever was this the case? Does somebody have any documentation?

Proof. 1.11b RRM/RWM. Sometimes the merc dies in town, sometimes he doesn't. Not dying in town is definitely a repeatable phenomenon, though.

Also, don't believe everything you hear on the arreat summit. For that matter, don't believe anything you hear on arreat summit without confirmation from something else. If I had a dollar for every error I can find on that site, well, I'd have a lot of dollars.

If you want to repeat this, my method was to pick a random A2 tomb, find an unraveller, and let him breathe on the merc.

Here is the proof

Took me awhile to get my merc poisoned :azn:

EDIT: Oops I'm a little late

EDIT2: That was my method as well. Let the unraveller breathe on my merc. However, had to go in quite a few tombs to find an unraveller and strip my merc of equipment so that he wouldn't just kill the unraveller.

Might it be the RRM mod then? I sure as hell have never seen a merc survive poison in the village if I didn't visit a healer.
Ah well... it's not important really. Cos that merc will die three steps out of town, regardless :P

RRM and RWM are not patches that change the game files, they're plain text that overrides the game files. It is 100% certain that they don't affect anything they're not supposed to, since you can just open them up in notepad and see what's written.

I'm fairly certain that RRM just changed rune color and RWM just allows ladder runewords. I don't know why some people say that the merc does die in town from poison because I personally have never seen it happen.
