WOW (World Of Warcraft)

Is WOW anything like Diablo

1. Can you build characters and play solo like in Diablo?

2. Is there PVP where you can play against 1 player or multiple players online?

I am just curious. I have played Diablo ever since the beginning and do not play other games yet I keep hearing how WOW is like Diablo but much better?

Anyone?

Posting in WoW forums might give you better answers. But i do believe there is PVP but its set-up differently from the diablo way.

1. You don't solo. You can party up to 5 players. each server can host up to 10k people and each server = 1 game.
2. You can PvP allied members but you are always "hostile" to to the opposite team. If you are Alliance your enemy is the Horde, if you are Horde your enemy is the Alliance.

Wow isn't based on level it's based on quests so don't go cry when it takes you an hour - an hour and a half to gain a level. :surprise:

U can solo :)
In fact most classes do this ok, I had a bit of trouble with the cleric at high levels

Its like Diablo in the fact that its very grinding - instead of dong 100s of Mephi runs, you have to go kill 10x monster B to get a Herb, then return the herbs to the person that gave you the quest.

There are two servers you can play on.

PvP ----- Where you will get a lot more PvP action (the first few areas are ok so you can level up without having to fight the other faction.)

PvM ------ U can still PvP here but most ppl dont, and there are less PvP opportunities.

I would fully reccomend getting Guild Wars instead!!!

Its the true Diablo III Sequel.

2 years ago heaps of the crew that bought us Warcarft I, II, III, Starcraft, Battlenet, Diablo , and Diablo II left Blizzard and formed a new company, they were angry at Blizzard for making a montly fee and thought that it was stupid.

They formed ArenaNet and Guildwars ----- Which is vastly superior.

WOW appeals to a younger market so if you are sort of younger than 18 you will probably like WOW more, as the graphics are more cartoony in feel

Guildwars looks very lifelike, so may only appeal to an older more mature crowd.

Both games are great -- dont get me wrong, I just prefer GW.

The thing I didnt like about WOW is that its very unbalanced, to start with there must be about 3 alliance players to every hoard player so if you go on a PvP server you get gang killed all the time.

What annoyed me is that when you die, your ghost appears in the graveyard, and you have to run back to your body ---- then the person that just killed you kills you again... very annoying!!

I got camp killed for about 3 hours ---------

Guildwars is a lot more balanced and therefore in my opinion a lot more fun.

On the plus side, WOW does have heaps of neat features such as larger map size ( it felt bigger than GW) it has things like trade skills, more character classes.

Both used instanced dungeons so ppl cant camp kill you -- like in Everquest.

If you want to know anymore just ask a question!

( I am a D2 fanatic - so if ya luved D2 then GW is for you )

I have always been a D2 fanatic, I just kept hearing the hype so I thought I would ask. I will have no intention of getting it now that that was cleared up.

Thank you

LOL

GW is free montly 2 !!

WOW costs a fair bit per month, when u buy it you only get 1 month access.

**

Definately goto both websites and have a good read too.

There should be another Guildwars open Beta in a few weeks, so I would reccomend doing that , just so you can experience it.

GW and WOW are both quite different games - A lot of ppl will like things and hate things about both.

Just for me, Gameplay balance is the most important thing, and WOW I found lacking - mind u I only played in the last Beta, I havent played the current shop version, so these issues could of been corrected.

Yes, but every 6 months, they expect to have a new content patch out, so you'll have to buy that too to keep up with the new stuff, rather like Magic The Gathering.

So, even though its free online, you'll likely have to keep shelling out cash to keep up with all the new spells, weapons, areas, etc.

(Not sure why MtG suddenly got double underlined hyperlinked?!)

Thats true, however you dont have to get the updates - u can still play without them, even with friends who do have updates.

Unlike Diablo where if you have LOD, and your friend has D2, u cant play togeather.

But, you know you will have to get the updates! How will you feel when your friends can cast 'Double-Whammy-Enchantment-of-Destruction' on their sword and you can't?
