I guess the only way to do this is to make an SPF mod on our own. As for me, I'd play it for HC. For SC the bugs are inconvenient, not game-wrecking.

I have seen this done by fans of other games. When 3DO went under, the last game they released was seriously buggy, an unofficial patch was created by fans to correct this. When the property was bought by another company their tech support told (and still does) people to download this "unofficial" patch.

Battlenet's days are probably numbered, once WoW gets going with a good revenue stream, Blizz will undoubtedly kill B'net. Especially with all of the problems there are with hacks and dupes.

Just my $.02

I think they will release another patch to fix bugs, although when they do this is unknown. After all, they're going to want to free up Bnet server space for other games sooner or later *cough*WoW*cough*.

(edit: ...pessimists! :p)

I dont think they need to free up server space fow WoW, Blizz does have the money to just crank up a couple of new ones. ;)

Or they remove D2 from the servers, and all the Bnetters starts to play legit, without dupes, hacks etc. in SP and MP games! :) I can dream, right?

Disclaimer: Some Bnetters play legit, no reason to put them all in the same box, i know. :)

PS: No more pathcing of D2, that would be to optimistic IMO.

Patch or not, I'm still unsure about buying D3 in 5 years when it comes out. Blizzard still hasn't regained my faith since battlenet fell apart with TWO Diablo titles. The first one I let go, but the second was supposed to be nearly unhackable, and for those who did hack the game, they were to be punished. A couple years later a few cdkeys get banned, but problem still not solved. 1.10 helped, but in my mind it was too little too late for me to want to give Blizzard money again.

I reckon 1.10 is it for Diablo II.

If there is to be a D3 (and I don't see why they wouldn't make a sequel of such a successful game) it's got to be years away given the total lack of any news on it. That being said, some of the D2 developers have left Blizzard to create "an action orientated RPG" and while I doubt we'll see it until 2006 it sounds like it could be the true heir to D2!

Yeah i too think that d2 will probably never be patched again, and that without a lot of the team (including 1.10 main patch guy) I seriously doubt there will be a diablo3 but there is hope! This game mentioned in the quote above (called guild wars) is coming out in september of this year :D and we have hope because the people who r making it say "we envision guild wars to be what diablo 3 would be like if blizzard was making it" (or something like that). But the best thing of all is that u will be able to play the game "in its alpha stage" during e3 (which is may 12-14) more info at the game's site which is http://www.guildwars.com/ phew that's a long post!

I'm certain that 1.10 is it. No more new weapons, new quests, this is it.

However, I still believe that, officially or unofficially, there WILL come a short patch to fix every 1.10 bug and finish D2.

Whether Blizzard releases it publicly, or one of us reverse engineers it into a widely accepted 3rd party app like ATMA, is unsure. I only hope it comes sooner than later.

That is exactly what I was going to say. A SP modded 1.10 could also include some kind of extended side-dungeon that gives you a shot to face the Diablo Clone and get an Annihilus. This has been talked about in a few places and I believe work is going on to make such a mod...

Can someone tell me what the Gloam bug and FE bug is I always hear about it but i dont know what it is

neither is a bug.

Folks just get pissed because Gloams deal massive damage - often times because of a kind of "Death Star" formation. And FE-enchanted monsters (typically uniques) have a dangerous death nova that can kill you instantly.

There are tactics for dealing with both challenges...

I have no idea about a poison viper bug, but poison works slowly so...

Confirmed bugs include the instant death when Ancients spawn with FE (even before you hit them), something about Marrowwalks, that's all I can think of...

I'm pretty happy with 1.10, but I'm a n00b so what do I know. I'm also an optimist so I'm hoping they will, eventually, fix the serious things (like the Ancients). Of course, I'm not holding my breathe. :cheesy:

This one is a bug, I believe... the Tomb Vipers in the Halls of Vaught have a Poison Javelin attack which is more powerful than it really should be. This is again probably because of the ranged attack powering-up... unlike Gloams/FE non-Ancient monsters you can't work around these except by resetting the game until you don't get Tomb Vipers.

I just want to say that the gloams *are* bugged. They add their mana burn damage as HP damage(when it should attack mana) along with the normal lightning damage . That makes them do way more damage than they should. That qualifies as a bug in my book.

As for the tomb vipers, the bug is the whenever you stand in the cloud of poison their javelins created you are attacked once every frame with what I presume is their javelin damage (I remember seeing the critical hit "spark" a few times during this) and your health drops in a flash. This does not happen if you are hit by the javelin and stand there without walking in the clouds of poison. The major problem is that it's impossible to keep your merc from happily walking in the clouds and die in 0.5 second.

As for the FE bug, Non-Ancients FE monsters never kill me in 1 hit with their melee attack. As for their explosion, it can happen but that's just normal because that damage is based on their life and 1.10 hell monsters have a whole lot of life.
