Will Blizzard ever patch DII again?

Title pretty much says it all. Are they done with DII for good? Or do you believe they are still tinkering with it? Will the FE bug ever get fixed in SP, or will they leave it there as a permanent flaw?

Yeh, I doubt they will patch it ever again, but lets hope its for a good reason such as... they are busy working on D3 :flip:

If they do patch it, it will be a small one to get rid of the remaining flaws (FE bug, Gloam bug, etc.). There won't be any more patches that were as massive as 1.10.

As far as Blizzard is concerned those bugs have already been fixed in the "real game" online . . . We're second-class citizens, remember? :p

I think they'll provide a final bug-fix at some point, probably a long way off. Didn't they release the final Diablo 1 patch after the expansion to D2 had already been released?

Three words: Not Bloody Likely.

Still, there are some things (Gloam bug, FE bug, etc.) that need to be desperately changed.

Do you realize that they are still charging 20 bucks a piece for both D2 and LoD where I live?

Personally I'm quite happy with 1.10 as it is.

*ducks*
I actually agree with you, but then again, i have not gotten into late actIV yet, or faced the hell lvl ancients...i may change my tune later...heh...

I think D3 has possibilities though...

I reckon 1.10 is it for Diablo II.

If there is to be a D3 (and I don't see why they wouldn't make a sequel of such a successful game) it's got to be years away given the total lack of any news on it. That being said, some of the D2 developers have left Blizzard to create "an action orientated RPG" and while I doubt we'll see it until 2006 it sounds like it could be the true heir to D2!

Durf said it best. Since the remaining bugs have been fixed on the Realms, Blizz considers the entire game to be fixed, thus there will be no more patches. Who cares about those of us who can't or won't play on bnet, right?

I think they will patch it so long as it continues to gain support and "SELL". If its still selling on shelves repeatedly Blizzard is still making money on it. From the number of people I have talked with and seen joining forums like the SPF, I dont see it as not continuing to make money for blizzard. So adventually they will want to alter something and it will get changed.

I mean honestly how many people thought they were done patching with the 1.09 patch?

I think they will release another patch to fix bugs, although when they do this is unknown. After all, they're going to want to free up Bnet server space for other games sooner or later *cough*WoW*cough*.

(edit: ...pessimists! :p)

Personally, I expect a bugfix patch to get rid of at least the biggest bugs like FE, gloams and those poison javelin vipers to name the worst. In fact I refuse to set foot in act 5 hell until those are fixed:rant: Challenge is good but bugged damage isn't IMO.

As for SP players being treated as second class citizens, this has been this way since 1.00 and it is really annoying at times. Anyone remembers when they added a delay to the life and mana orb updates to reduce realm lag and in their infinite wisdom added that change to single player too? And don't get me started about those realm only bug fixes.... This kind of non-sense is what keeps me from really being excited about a potential D3 to be honest. I just feel it would be the same story all over again when it comes to SP vs. Battle net.

Don't get me wrong, I love D2, I just don't like blizz's way of handling certain things:rolleyes:

Anyhow that's enough negativity for today :teeth:
Back to slaughtering poor Meph [he wants the bugs fixed too so I finally get off his back:lol:]

I wouldn't count on another patch by Blizzard, but I didn't think I'd ever see 1.10 either, so you never know :D

I share Sincere's hope of them being working on D3 instead of patching D2 further, to be honest ;)

Yeah, generally I agree with this. But still, the bugs that are left that I am aware are fairly small. You wouldn't think a huge investment in resources would be necessary to fix them. Especially the FE bug since they already have a fix for it on the realms. But then again, I'm not a programmer.

And that's the very reason why I don't think we'll ever see another patch to D2. They've already fixed the bugs (at least the FE bug, not sure about the Gloam bug) and instead of making it available to everyone, gave it just to the bnetters. A patch would have solved things for both communities. That's what annoys me the most. It's BEEN patched and we're not allowed to have it.

I guess the only way to do this is to make an SPF mod on our own. As for me, I'd play it for HC. For SC the bugs are inconvenient, not game-wrecking.

I don't think they'll make another patch. And I also think Shade is right. They will have to free up Bnet space. WOW is a paid gaming subscription, not free like D2.

Money spent goes to where the revenue is coming from. D2 is an old game. WOW is new and they will have continuing (monthly) revenue from it.

I know, I know, I am a pessimist on this one. But look to where their revenue will be generated. D3 would be a big revenue maker. So, I think D2 is finished. Why spend your money on an old game, when you can make tons of money on WOW, and perhaps D3.

Patching SP? Not a chance!
I think theyre done with DII and will probably just keep maintaining battlenet until the game is dead.

As for D3, I won´t get into it. DII has taken enough time off my life, so playing the sequel is not for me...
