Whispering in a game... help!

Some people who put me on their friends list simply do not understand the words like "PLEASE", and "STOP". They continue with sending messages to all the people from their list (most of those messages are not for me and in language I don't understand) and it annoys me very much. I begged them many times not to send me messages, or if that's hard enough for them to do to take me off their list. They just say "OK", or "SORRY" and after 1-2h start again with whispering. :(

Any way of stopping this "spamming"???

I generally just use the /away or /dnd commands when people do this to me. That way, whenever they want to send a message to me that annoys me, they get one right back to annoy them. And if you use dnd, you don't even have to see their messages anymore. Of course, it means you won't see any other messages either, but I rarely play with friends so that doesn't bother me.

thanx!!!

Do /away and /dnd commands work for all ppl who want to whisper me or you use those commands like this:
/away (*acc) and /dnd (*acc)

They work for anyone whispering you, and you do not need to put an account name. Whatever you type in after the /dnd or /away will be the message sent to that person. It is very similar to an instant messenger away message. An example would be: "/dnd Back in a minute, I had to go number two." You will see no whispers, and anyone whispering you will see "Back in a minute, I had to go number two." whispered to them.

And as a side note, never ever be taken in by scams that ask you to type /dnd account password for any reason.

Do /dnd and /away work when the person uses /F m ?

I was under the impression it only worked when a person uses /m *acc msg?

i remember this scam. not seen it done for ages tho. is it still happening?

Yeah I saw it a few weeks ago. The guy was using the old scam that it would give you your D2 rank or something ridiculous like that. This was actually the very first scam attempt I ever encountered in D2. Even as a noob that one sounded pretty fishy to me... managed not to fall for it.

And I'm pretty sure the /away one works for /f m, I did it one day and came back later and saw a few messages asking what i was talking about from a guy that spams me. I suppose he could have been talking to someone else though and I just assumed he meant me. Even if it doesn't work, /dnd is still nice for hiding the messages. Can anyone say definitively if this works or not?

anyway is a help button when u are in channel lol

sometimes i want my friends to not see a message when i join a game (and game name), is a way to that? i dont think so

Can you squelch someone permanently?
I squelched the guy that was bothering me, but when I entered Diablo after a few hours, he could still whisper me with annoying messages (which he sends to everyone on his list). :((

you can temporarily or (permanently if you want) remove them from your friends list by

/f r (accountname)

then they'll see your game name as "private game" and wont see you joining any games

if that person's important, you can always readd them back by

/f a (accountname)
