where are "the pits"

As SirLardsAlot said, In the Tamoe Highlands. You take the Outer Cloister Waypoint, and walk backards to get there.

Follow the road from the Outer Cloister. It'll either lead you to The Black Marsh or The Pit.

Yeah, there's one trail, then it splits into two.

Also, yes you can go from the black marsh, but then you also have to find the Tamoe Highlands. If you take the Outer Cloister wP, all you have to do is walk backwards and find the Pit. The Black Marsh can go to Dark Wood, and Tamoe Highlands.

Correct me if i'm wrong but, there are other places than just THE Pit in Act1. Other TC85 areas exist. All of them that I know of are:

Act 1: The Pit--->Tameo Highland
Mausoleum---> In Bloodravens graveyard

Act2: Ancient Tunnels---> Lost City (look for a trap door)
Maggot Lair lvl 3

Act3: Not really sure about this one personally.

Act4: Anywhere in the River of Flame and the Chaos Sanctuary.

Act5: Any level of the Worldstone Keep and Throne Room

These are TC85 areas AFAIK and can drop any item in the game, except Anni's and Cow king stuff, maby other things I can't think of right now.

Oh, these are TC85 areas in LOD, I don't think they are in classic D2, though.

With enough time, you could find almost all the great sought after elite uniques in the game in these areas. :winner: :flip:

any specific place or are you just running around in the tamoe highlands?

The path out of the outer cloister back to Tamoe will eventually split, one leads to the black marsh one to the pit, always, kill the monsters on your way to the pit, i have found an ohm, jah and lots of good uniques.

No you're right. Only reason people do act1 hell pit runs is because it is the easiest of T85 areas.

You can't possibly expect him to find all of these, or at least go looking for them, now can you? ;)

I know I've found an IK Plate in Durance level 3 in the first season so I don't trust guides anymore since they say that can't happen.

(Besides that guide says "CL/FO Hybrid" when that kind of Sorceress blows majorly)

While I do hit "the pit" every mf game, the ancient tunnels has been more productive for me lately (valor in the ancient tunnel and a ss from a champion while looking for the trap door). :thumbsup:

The weather here in Michigans Thumb has been so crappy lately I"ve spent more time playing d2 than riding :rant:

Actually, the Mausoleum (another 85 area) is easier for most cold sorceresses at least (and FO sorc's aren't too uncommon :D), since there can never spawn any regular cold immune monsters there. Same with Ancient Tunnels I think. So even cold tree only Sorc's soloing can do well there.

This guide is worth a read too and involves the 85 areas:

Depends on what you compare with. With cookie cutter builds -- yes. :)
Otherwise, I don't think so. ;)

I compare to a pure CL build. A hybrid will do crap damage. Hell, pure CL and synergies/mastery does crap damage unless you have great items. In Pit runs I just teleport to the Archers and my Merc killed them with 1 or 2 jabs in 8p games.

I'll never make a hybrid, they are very very bad. I'd rather go Ethereal Bone Hew/Thresher merc with 5000+ damage :)
