When you die, do you drop all your stuff?

I was just wondering, because I'm new to hardcore.

Nope, you are just a corpse, unless you have a mate in-game you wish to recover your items for you so you click the padlock icon in the Party menu next to him/her name and they can loot your corpse when you die

Yeah, just make sure they are actually your friend, or else they might just kill you on purpose for the fun of it.
