whats a good mod to play?

I played Ancestral Recall a few years ago and enjoyed it quite a bit. Much more generous drops and much tougher. Not sure if it has been updated to 1.10.

Zy-El is another very popular one, it even has its own server. From what I hear it is very difficult, killing your first monster can take an hour. It supposedly gets easier after that.

I have also heard very good things about Gemstone.

If you decide to play a mod, I've found it's best to make a separate folder in your '/save' directory for all your mod characters. Move all the regular ones to a holding directory and play the mod. Then when you want to switch between the two you just have to move the unwanted chatacters to their directory and move the wanted ones into the '/save' directory. This makes it easy to keep the characters from your various mods and your 'regular' characters separate.

Have you tried teh Untwinked Hardcore Mod? I hear it's very challenging; it has monsters that can kill you even without hitting you! And then you have to start all over again. Talk about difficulty. And almost every drop is better than the previous. I just discovered tUHM and it's great. Don't even have to google for it :thumbsup:

@Milamber, Welcome back, yes you were missed. Might have to multi sometime.

Come to think of it I haven't played many mods at all, played Hell on Earth ages ago and I've barely touched the Middle Earth mod. Oh well thought I was gonna be more help than I was.

Yeah, but TUHM is a gateway drug. You play for a few years and before you know it you get bored with it. And you hear all these stories from the power MFers/twinkers about all these uber items that you've never seen in all your years of playing. So you think it might be nice to try them all out. But you've been ruined by all those years of TUHM, so a fully decked out uber character presents little challenge and a quick trip to boredom. So inevidably TUHM leads you to other mods, where you can get all those uber items, and the difficulty has been ramped up. Yep, TUHM seems harmless enough, but it's just a gateway to the harder stuff. Beware!

@Baal: Drop it. Milamber has this quality, he is strong enough to speak his heart all the time, which makes of him a true friend of the forum, but which occasionally puts him in a tight spot. You, on the other hand, is much like what AE said in his post. Drop it.

@Milamber: Good to have you back. Gonna send some Zods for you to enjoy. Maybe an Anni and a Constricting Ring too. :teeth:

Oh sure, it starts off as a fun little recreational thing. But then it leads into the hard stuff. And before you know it you're robbing the neighborhood Granny to buy duped runes on E-bay.

No offense to you, Mil, I know we will always disagree here--but I don't think that you can speak for the board here, ricrestoni. While Baal is overtly critical in ways that are not constructive, Milamber simply can't rein in his tongue at times that he probably should (IMO). That's far from "speaking your heart".

How about we all try to be courteous to each other. :)
