What was your biggest D2 Brain fart?

Well, I certainly win this one. See, I had been drooling over Infinity for months. I had the stats all memorized and could see the page in my head. I had even come up with my own name for it -- "bumby", which is what the initial letters of the necessary runes sound like if said (Ber Mal Ber Ist = BMBI = "bumby")

Finally after months of work, I have all the necessary runes and a decent weapon to put them in. Like I said, I had this thing memorized, so though I normally double check runes for runewords, I had it down pat, aided by the nickname.
So, bumby. Ber Um Ber Ist, bumby.

Yeah, that sucked. Especially on hardcore ladder.

when i got scammed 23 hr a few weeks ago. I was trading on bnet forums and wasnt even thinking of checking the modlist, i just wanted to get the trade done fast. i refreshed the post and the guy i was trading with was like STOOOOOP!!!!!!. but i already handed the runes to the mod impersonator :\

two things ive done so far, the first was i waited till lvl 75 to use my sorcs stat points, and when i started doing strength, i accidently hit the shift key which adds everysingle stat point. I ended up adding something like 300+ points into strength. A second thing i did was rushing someone for forge, my first time doing it and i tend to be soft and trust people. i put up the tp to forge and he said he didnt think i could clear chaos, and i was like wtvr so i went to start it and forgot he put a tp up to forge too, he went in and got the forge, which was a mal and left. :(

This ladder I found an eth cv,traded for the high runes to make pride runeword. In went the cham sur Lo Lo and:shocked: omg gemmed polearm.I always thought pride was very expensive needing four high runes.Taught me to look real close when reading runeword listings.Thing that made it worse was instead of using 3 high runes for a nice runeword I waste four:cry:

I finally made pride about a week later. It came out with lvl19 conc aura and perf 300% ar:flip:

Mine was letting someone do a level job for me. Lost my light sorc gear to the guy. I was remaking it into a ES/Light sorc for dueling. My first char too. It did 45k (when it was pure light) with all the gear the guy stole.

After a year of coming back I totally forgot Gheeds charm couldn't be traded in the window. well I saw a 'gold 4 gheeds' game and jumped on it. Well whuddya know? A sorc wanted to do the stand in the other side of the wall and drop gold trick. She took the gold and left (lost 1 million gold btw). The worst part was that I joined in their channel first before entering the game, so leaving the game I set myself up for humiliation of 'noob' hurling. Ah well you live and learn.

On the bright side, I will never, ever, ever forget the runes for Infinity ever again. ;)

you my friend are the best forum necromancer on this side of the locked threads to come!!!

I was doing a pub baal run and while I was waiting for the tp, I thought this would be a good time to soc my HOZ. So I went over to larzuk and let him do his thing. Well....my inventory was full and when thats the case, the item hes socketing for ya, falls to the ground when he gives it back. OF COURSE there was someone there to pick it up for me. Of course the lucky fella left the game right away, can't blame him for that.

I'm still not 100% what I did wrong, but that fat barb Larzuk cost me my first HOZ.

...and yes I fell for the trade screen switch before and traded my UM for a cracked war hat, instead of the Shako I was shown. To make things worse, not a week later I had been playing way to long without a break, was tired and got switched again losing an IST for vambraces, not dracs. Now its embedded in my internal programing to never trade without checking TWICE. Live and learn, right?

oh my lord I cringed everytime I saw gheeds for gold games in the past knowing that some newb thought he was getting a good deal, and that some guy was so desperate to revive his merc he would sink to such a low level.

These days, gheeds, anni, and torches can be traded in window right?

I would say the biggest mistake I've made was one time when I was scammed for my sur rune as some guy showed a ap coh in the trade window. He asked, "is this a fair trade?" Little did I know, in return for my sur rune I got a magical piece of crap. Although, I was convinced it was a hack, because I consider myself the type who double checks for trades. But who knows.

But the king of all kings would be accidently adding one point into energy on my soon to be lvl 94 fc bear. It was a sad, sad, day....

Then I deleted him for it!

I hate the energy stat...

as a newbie in 109 i tryed cubing for BvB swords....on one of my first hits i got a CCBoQ 3 sockets 276% ed + 40 % ias....sold it for a 'eth' socketed eaglehorn >_<

As a relative newbie i got trade switch scammed with storm...and i ended up giving him skullders, shako and a cats eye too...."but mommy, he promised he would give it back, if he got some items of lesser value" ...jackass :P

As a experienced diablo 2 PvP player....knowing all about popping, i actually managed to pop my self.

lost 2* 20/250 ravens
160/60 armor
perfect gaze
197% eth titans
and so on....

damn i was pissed at my self..

I don't make too many blunders but lately I have involving Iron golems:

After making an iron golem out of an amn socketed bonesnap, the next game I forgot to take clay golem off the hotkey and ended up summoning him by accident.

A few games later after finding a decent 2 socket 9 life leech rare axe for an iron golem, I ended up getting myself killed while identifying items that dropped.

The next day after making a strength out of a 2 socket ogre axe, I somehow managed to accidently summon an IG in a mule game out of an unidentified item on the ground.

Back in 1.09:
On a zon I was playing, in the middle of trying to equip a bow that was just found, dual life leech 100+ damage rare goth bow, she got attacked and died with the bow on the pointer. Hitting esc to to a corpse run I decided to exit. The corpse was in the next game but the bow was left in the previous game.

No one is perfect.
