I voted for druids, specifically Windies. This is one character build where you have summons (like necro), ranged damage (like fireball sorc, bonemancer, etc.), team friendly boosts (like paladins), mass AoE damage (like sorc, hammerdins' hammer field), and self recovery features (like paladins). Windies are excellent rushers for normal and nightmare games (just turn on hurricane and run). Windies are team-friendly given their Oak Sages and this is especially nice when you're rushing newbies in normal/nightmare games. Windies can often clear through all levels of hell and this is one of the most important consideration for me.

Zons, IMHO, are the funnferificativerest to think about and plan and stuff. I got tired of Sorcs and struggling with immunes for so long (I mean, who has the runes to make an Infinity?! *RHETORICAL QUESTION DON'T ANSWER*).

Zons rock just cuz you can sit there and, even when ur a javazon, just jab the tushies out of dem Electic Bubbles, Midget Dudes, or Wormy Things (FEAR MY VOCABULARY.... lol they're really just: 1. Burning Souls, 2. Dolls, and 3. Those actual worms that you can step on and squish when you kill Duriel and such  ... I SQUISH YOU ALL... which is also from dave the barbarian, to prove that other guy isn't crazy).

BTW, Wmerideth, all my zon are belong to you.

Druid. He can summon, he can cast, he can fight as a melee warrior, he's party-friendly... can't beat it. Great spells too!

Somehow I knew Druids, Assassins and Necros would be the least popular, it seems that people don't like micromanagement much. :)

Current standings:

Sorceress 18 - 23.38%
Amazon 16 - 20.78%
Paladin 15 - 19.48%
Barbarian 11 - 14.29%
Necromancer 7 - 9.09%
Druid 6 - 7.79%
Assassin 4 - 5.19%

I voted Paladin because I like the idea of the holy warrior fighting against the forces of evil, as well as the versitility allowed by their skills/auras. Right now I have 4 active paladins. A Dreamer (Soon to be rebuilt into a dream vanquisher) , a hammerdin, a PvP Smiter, and a Zealot. I have an affinity towards the sorc class as well, however. I have four of them as well; Melee Enchantress, Orber, Infinity Light Mage, and an MF Fire sorc. The blessed knight, however, takes precedence.

One thing, if possible, would have been interesting. Compare poll results as this one to other done in other patch iteration. I am sure the results would prove quite different.

true, true... not so much between 1.10-1.11, but try 1.09-1.10, bowazons were godly, they get nerfed. WW barbs were godly, they didn't really get nerfed but they didn't get much from the patch like the other characters did. Since 1.10 i have yet to see a sorc simply teleporting around with thunder storm. (probly a good thing) And how many people played a necro in 1.09, 5? 10? or and a windy druid was so unheard of if u heard "windy druid" you would think to yourself, "does fury work with bows?"

btw, anyone notice that ppl who have played for a long time are like war veterans... "I remember what it was like in vietnam" just substitute the patch where vietnam is

Actually pub dueling in 1.09 was a lot like Nam.

Except Charlie didn't use slow, knockback, massive poison and Ith.

EDIT: I figure the above would probably be considered spam.

On topic, I think the most consistently popular chars have been sorcs and barbs, at least for the time that I've played. The hegemonic chars like the 1.09 cowing zon or 1.10-1.11 everything-ing Hammerdin seem to create a backlash, at least in my experience.

The other day I had a hammerdin get called a no-skill noobadin who bought items off ebay by a MA sin in a baal run. He responded by unpartying and getting all the exp. Damn him.
