Weapon for Druid?

Hello! First of all, I'm a noob so I would appreciate it if you actually write all the words and avoid using things like IAS or IK Maul. Secondly, I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I'm not used to the different features of this forum yet. :scared:

I play a Werebear druid and need some suggestions on weapons. I'm interested in either Buriza or Baranan's Star, but don't know which one is best for me.

I don't use Fireclaws or Armageddon, completely relying on physical damage so I thought maybe Baranan's Star would compensate the pretty low elemental damage from the Buriza. Also, I would like to make these weapons as fast as possible. What is needed? Can i put a Shael rune in the actual weapon, and Shael runes in other socketed equipment to stack the haste? I don't know the rules, and Dragoon's Werebear guide kinda confused me with all the OIAS, WIAS etc.

Also, is it only certain weapons that can reach the 4 frame attack and how important is it compared to weapons with a slower attack but greater elemental damage?

Please, explain it as if you were talking to a baby. :winner:

Speed will be needed.

I can't check right now, but I think the best here would maybe be a Crescent Moon Phase blade or a Stormlash Scourge. I would rank stormlash better.

Welcome to the Druid forums!

There is a link(a little blue button at the bottom left) to the posting rules at each thread.

You will want to decide between the two weapons you mentioned here are some stupid questions which will help you to decide for you're self.
a) Are you using shockwave
b) Do you have Attack rating coming from you're gear or charms
c) Would you like to have more offensive or defensive build

If you answered yes to a) and offensive to c), go for Buriza. Then you can put more points into dexterity to keep you're attack rating good and you also get damage from points in dexterity.

If you answered no to a) and defensive to c) I would suggest using a baranars star and a good block% shield.

Seems like this didn't turn out so helpful after all but ask away if you still have trouble with something.

thanks! i have a couple of more questions then..

how about if i use shockwave, AND baranar's star + shield? i mean..it would be nice to have something to put points in after level 60-70. :)

also, how important is dex? some claim that you should ignore it, others say "around 50"..and sword users say "take it up to 130 so you can use phase blades". but if i'm not planning to use swords, is it ok to have it around 50 and use a shield? or would a shield suggest you take it up as high as possible to increase chance to block?

my suggestion would be 100 dex for increased chance to block and increased attack rating. i have oak sage, so that would compensate the loss of skill points added to vitality.

i'm leaning towards a 1 hand weapon since i played a druid before and used the buriza (was a long time before though).

Well, the idea of shockwave is that you stun everything for up to 10seconds(IIRC) or so and that means they aren't about to attack you in that period of time, hence you don't need a shield. It is true though that the champion, unique, boss etc. can't be stunned but usually it is still mano-i-mano so you have good chance with a two hander. The problem is that you can't always hit them or they manage to mob you before you get to stun them. Thus it is a good precaution to use a shield and it usually helps you with resists and such.

There is little point in using a shield if you won't pump dexterity. Calculate what kind of shield you will probably use in endgame(I like Rhyme Grim shield) and pump accordingly.

Good luck.
