Warrior-Monk question

I am in the process of building a sin based on the warrior monk sticky, and I had a question about it.

In the guide, it warns about using a torch on the sin due to the fact that talon kicks so insanely fast that it would proc firestorm a lot, and could cause C/I in high person games.

I am wanting to know from personal experience of the people here if you are using a torch on your kicker and if so, how the firestorm is effecting you, if at all.

Lastly, what GCs are you using in your inventory? MA to get to next DT kick level and then rest shadow? About how of each do you use? Just kind of summing everything up before I get started on this build.

Thanks

Had another question about this build. I am wanting to be able to use fade all the time for the resists and for the PDR while in melee. I was looking at the kicking basics sticky and saw this table:
IAS_EIAS_Frames
0____30___10
2____31___9
18___45___8
46___63___7

The table is for -30 WSM weps, which I was pretty sure that a phase blade is. I plan on using a Last Wish phase blade as the wep, and need to know how much IAS I am needing to get. I was planning on using my ammy slot to get some IAS and my belt also.

If someone could help me out with this, it would be great. I have never built a kicker before and I am wanting to know what kind of speed I am looking at.

Hello UrbanHeroics,

Quite recently I gave the warriormonk build a try aswell. First and formost I have to say it's a truely wonderfull and magnificant build, secondly I'll try to answer your questions eventhough my little expirience thus far.

My kicker is level 84, and can handle hell easely. Therefore hellfire torch is one off the things she uses. However in pvm baalruns it's nearly IMPOSSIBLE for me to compete with the other players in the game, since as soon as I start kicking, the game will get an C/I within moments(tens of seconds at max). I advice to use a torch and calculate this in your build, since there'r coming truely handy, but put them away whenever your doing runs(or just leech).

At this point my equipment is nearly done, but I'm not sure about my inventory. I use quite a varibility off charms, but I'll state them here.
-Hellfire
-Anni
-Res gc
-And the rest is a combination of sc's, lc's and gc's - all max/ar or life or res or high elemental damage(cold)
However I seriously doubt if this is any good, it's just where I came up with, and I have to admit it quite works for me(to boost damage and ar, and some res(so I can handle meph's conviction)).

Pb's are -30 weapon speed, so your absolutely right. I'm not a star in these calculations but I'll give it a try(based on http://www.purediablo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229326 tables).

%IAS required for 7 frame initial Kick Attack using Dragon Talon
bos lvl= 0
Your ias with a -30 weapon should be 46.
Follow-ups arn't a problem anyway.

HoweverYou need to convert eq ias into eias.
To get a 7frame initial kick attack, you'll need 63 eias(as you stated correctly).
To calculate your eias you use this formule;
EIAS --> IAS conversion formula:
EIAS = (120*IAS)/(120+IAS)

I take my kicker as an example;
(120 * 65(ias juwel in guillaume+highlords+nosferatu+sheal'ed fleshripper)=7800
/
120+65=185

=42 + -20 weapon penalty = 62eias(so that's 8frame attack).
When using a pb and the eq above you'll kick 7 frames easilly.

This might have been a bit unordened, but I hope it helps.
Keep me posted, I'm seriously currious, since it's such a nice build.

Kind regards,
ZS

Looking at that link that you gave me (thx a lot by the way, both your post and that link were very informative), I don't think that I would be able to hit a 7/3 DTail using only fade.

My gear is:
Last Wish PB
Guilliames
Fortitude DS
Phoenix Monarch
Cat's Eye Ammy or Highlords ( not sure which yet)
Trangs Gloves
1 Bk and 1 Ravenfrost
Nosferatu Belt
2/23 Dancers

With the IAS from ammy and belt, and even with a IAS jewel in the G-face, I would still only be able to get 62EIAS if I did my calcs right. Even with that, I would still be hitting a 8/3 DTalon which is hella fast though.

Anyone have an idea how I could get a little extra IAS to hit 7/3 without losing gear?

I suppose I could try a different hat and toss the G-face, but the overload on Crushing Blow just seems so sexy to me. I might be able to part with it though. Any other thoughts come to mind on a switch to hit my next DTalon breakpoint?

Craft some OW gloves with 20 ias
I'd ditch the pheonix for a good old SS with ed/ias if u need more ias....

Personaly I'd have to agree with Zigot_HD, concerning shield choice. I'm not a big fan of phoenix, and think SS is a proper decent choice within this build(expecially with maxblock). And you'll be able to top a higher ias.

Craft gloves with Ias and maybe even 10cb(suppose that's a possible combination right?)are a nice choice aswell, since you'll get enough lifetap from lastwish.

Thanks for gearposting, I'm always currious with this build. It's proper decent at this point, nice:smiley:

My personal goal is to make this kicker assa, next to uberhunting, decent in pvp. To be honost, I'm far from sure if that'll work out. I still need to figure a way to boost my damage(prefer to use kicks in pvp). Does elemental damage charms(poisen cold whatsoever)get's converted into kick damage(it's not shown)? And secondly, any suggestions on a weapon(thinking of azure because of ias and magic damage, deathweb might be a possibility aswell)?

Kind regards,

ZS

I dont mean to Hijack this thread but, do any of you Monks's have AR problems. I have a Lv 74 comming up and dont have the a weapon with ITD (been waffling with a death cleaver, "black" flail and "strength" runic claws" and i just dont have the killing power i thought. If fact i had to put on angelic ammy and ring to get good hit rates. other gear(G-helm "umed", Duriel shell, non upped gores/dancers, santuauary shield, nosfoeatu belt, trang gloves)

Any ideas?

The only problem that I have with getting some crafted IAS gloves is that, by doing that, I would lose the 25% poison damage bonus that I get from trang's that is applied twice. (Once when cast and the other when I hit).
