wand shopping

Hi.
I am looking for a necromancer wand like this:
+x to summon tree
+3 to raise skeleton
+3 to skeleton mastery

Where can I shop one of those? From what vendor in what difficult? Also what level do I have to be? And what level is "best" for buying one?

Try drognan in act 2 for a very very small chance (but still...) of him selling a +1 summoning, 3/3 wand (lvl 15 to use).

A +2 or +3 summoning (magic one) is impossible to shop, find or cube if you want tier one staffmods (and RS/SM both are tier one).

It's possible to make a rare have +2 necro skills, and still get tier one staffmods, but you'd need a elite wand, and to imbue it @ clvl 8, then use a lvl 1 char and the rare+6pskulls formula to get its ilvl low enough. And even then, it WILL take a lot of tries.

Bottom line: Nothing beats "Arm of King Leoric" unique UNLESS you're classic, and excep uniques don't exist.
 
If I had a summoner necro, I would have preferred a rare or crafted +2 necro skills wand with some other nice affixes like resists/life/mana. Such a wand will boost Corpse Explosion, curses, etc. and good affixes may give more freedom to other item slots.

Note that this is from an untwinked perspective. I don´t even know what an Arm of King Leoric is. (Although I do remember the King himself, from Diablo 1.)

Arm of King Leoric has these skills, and some other stats, one of which is the most annoying bone prison proc.

+2 summon skills
+2 curses
+3 Raise Skellie
+3 Skellie Mastry
+2 Raise Skelliemage
 
yeah it tends to trap your character inside while running away from monsters, or casts infront of you in a tight hallway and blocks the way forward.

takes a few seconds to wear off to if no monsters are attacking it, so it gets annoying.

espically if souls are firing at you.
 
It casts on the thing that hit you, whether that be a Devil Kin whacking away, a Skeleton Archer sniping you from afar, or a fire in the Bloody Foothills. :rolleyes:

What a way to go...

It's nearly impossible to get a better wand that AoKL. A rare wand with a high base qlvl, +2 summon and +3 to RS, SM, and RSM is possible (through the mentioned pskull recipe), but it will be incredibly rare and it still won't have +2 curses and the mana bonus.

A magical or rare RS wand with +2 necro should be impossible because you need a low ilvl to get a tier 1 mod like RS, but a high ilvl to get +2 necro (needs an affix level of 90).

In the case of wands, I don't think this is true? Or class specific items for that matter.



 
Yes, you are right. For class-specific items, the alvls for +2 to all skills is just 50.

As already said, you need a low item level to get tier 1 skills while you need a high affix level to get +2 necro. For such a combination,you need a high base quality level. Let's assume the best and we have a scissors suwayyah (base qlvl 85 IIRC). The affix generation procedure will set the alvl to 2*base_qlvl-99=75. The minimum base qlvl fulfills 2*base_qlvl-99>=50, i.e. base qlvl 75 - enough for +2 necro. Perhaps runic talons and feral claws have such a high base qlvl as well.

Anyway, it will require a huge amount of skulls to cube such a wand just to get the staffmods.

I currently don't know the exact base qlvls because my favorite web site with information like that is still unavailable (and I'm starting to doubt that it will ever come up again) and I don't have a MPQ viewer here at work :azn:
 
wow, thanks for all the inputs and all formulas and stuff ^^ I dont quite follow, but I do understand that it's hard to get :P
Anyway, the gamerules have cnged a little, I found a gull dagger yesterday! So now I only need a good summoningwand, so no curses or mana or whatever is really needed, and AoKL is not a option, since I just restarted in HC and my only chars atm are an assa and a necro, both in normal.
Currently I'm using a +3 rs wand and a +3 rs head (lucky frop from the barracks^^) to smmon my army, then I'm switching to gull which I run around with all the time when killing monsters and a +2rs +2amp head, I could use a shiled, but if I ditch the head I will loose another skellie, since using +summon/skellie gear when summoning will give your skellies that level even if you change gear, but for ever 3 levels you will also loose a skeleton, so I use it to only loose 1 skeleton when I switch to gull =) I think that 100 mf is well worth only 1 skeleton. And also +2 amp is nice for the amp +range.

Woa this became a messy post :P
I think I will try drognan out, or at least try to get a +3rs/sm one to replace my +3 rs only. but I will keep gull on as my "real" weaponset and use wand to buff my skellies ^^ even if one or two of them die when I switch to gull.
