Viet's Updated Mage Guide

This may be a simple question, but how do you guys have your hotkeys setup? Because I am struggling with keeping vigor charge close to Hammer/concentrate and having everything easy and ergonomic. Here is what I was thinking:

q,w,e - Prebuffs
s - Tele
d/f - Charge/Vigor
z/x - Hammer/Concentrate
c/v - FOH/Conviction

This works sortof... but some of the swaps are awkward. I geuss I just need to get used to it...

But i do fine with my life my basic setup is like this

2/20/55Life Pala (20)
2x BK
Griffons (Shael'd) (25, 20FHR)
Arch (20)
Mage (20)
Wraith Brand Boots (20FHR)
HoZ w/ 5/5 Die

Giving me 40 FHR, using 4 fhr pcombats.

Sacraficing life, but made up with BK and ammy. But doing 10/5 at 96

how much life do u have in total? and u walk around with a total of 86%FHR all the time?

a - vigor
s - charge
d - concentration
f - blessed hammer
q - conviction
w - fist of the heavens
e - throw (for namelock)
c - cleansing
x - meditation (on switch)
v - holy shock
f6 - battle command
f7 - battle orders
f8 - holy shield
g - switch weapons

I thought I was the only person who used space for tele...... =]

I'm following your guide, I going for the Hammer/Foh (9k/4k) option.
Plugging these skills into a calculator

Hammer / FOH (9k hammers / 4k foh)
19 vigor
04 concentration
18 blessed hammer
12 blessed aim
13 fist of heavens
14 holy shock
11 prereqs

It leaves me at lvl 86. So my question is, where to from here? I plan on leveling to 93ish. If I can get 9k hammer should I start putting more points towards the foh side of things?

depends on how much hammer damage you want... u can opt for 10k and 4k+ foh depending on how high u wanna level... but if u wanna stop at lvl 93 i suggest putting points into foh to get 4.5k+

to tell u the truth i dont have any stack at all... just enough to have max resists in hell without the anya quest and enough to counter a few 5/5 facets

i dont really have much problem with FOHers cuz i just make sure i keep out of conviction range and play a bit defensive... worse comes to worse theres always a wisp ring

as far as blizzers are involved i would die in 2-3 hits but vs 10k hammers they wudnt last very long neither :P plus i have 5k foh as backup... its basically whoever makes the most mistakes

to truly stack enough to counter lit/blizz damage u d have to build a mage revolving around that (the tank mage)... as far as trying to stack on a regular mage the dmg and setup becomes too much of a headache so i wudnt even bother



 
whats ur build with ur gear?

Im prob using same gear now

Amu: Maras
Boot: Perm WB
Belt: Arch
Glove: Arch
Helm: Griff 5/5 Perfect
Ring: Soj
Ring: BK
Shield: 35FCR spirit Sacred Targe
Weapon: Hoto

Plan to get it to 96, how are u gonna get 10k/5k or 9k/6k

i love to play this char concept and i wrote some ideas down here .
now my mage is @lvl 94 and i got 2 more skill points and dunno where should i set them.
my dmg:
7.8k hammer
6.4k foh
lvl 19cov
thats all @75fc

or should i put one point into fana and try to get grief?

and did u have any idea where could i get more dr? vs barbs i use verdungo and hoz bered... but vs good bvc i think 31dr is not that much.
 
How much strength do you have? you can always go HoZ + CoA ber ber combo which always worked for me.

you need about 400 resist to be safe from blizz?

anny + torch = 40
Wizspike w/ 30 cold resist = 105
spirit in targe pala shield= 80
Trang glove = 30
rare boots w/ stats/resist = 50
maras= 30
= 335 resist total.

add one cold resist ring (like doom finger or something) + raven and you'll be absorbing.
all you need to switch are rings + weapon. =)
