Vega, DX and aman's Dark Project =D

First of all, let me begin by saying that if you've got nothing better to contribute to this thread than criticizm and once again raising the legitness question, please hold on to your thoughts. We've had more than enough threads like this turn into personal accusations and people getting hurt, so please- don't go there.

Now, with that out of the way....

"The Dark Project" is of course HF rushing, and as cheesy as it gets, as we are doing it in 1.09 Classic :p

Basically, after beginning my impossible quest for a Lo from the countess, I've decided to finally take alot of people's advices (especially you Hrus ^^) and to give HF rushing a try.

The goal is simple enough. "Let's do HF rushes until we can put together three fortitudes", meaning, three Lo's was out goal.

Now, we've only done three full rushes so far, as it's quite hard to find times when all three of us are available for playing, and let me tell you- it's not quite as easy as you might think it would be.

First of all, it is indeed true that doing it with a pertner, or better yet- even two partners in "crime", makes it alot easier. But... you always have the (very real, let me tell you) chance of some game instances crashing/ bugs in the game/ human errors, so yeah... it takes a while even with this rushing method.

Here would be the place to truly thank Corrupted for donating some very useful items to DX's Sorc, which is our rushing char. She is a level 79 meteorbess, and thanks to Corrupted's loot- can take on pretty much the entire game on p8, rather easily. Thanks man!

Now... here are the results from our first 3 full rushes (21 chars):

5 Lum
2 Shael
4 Um
2 Mal
3 Pul
4 Fal
6 Hel
3 Io
2 Gul
1 Ko
2 Lem
3 Sol


Duneadin, notice that in approximatively 7 hours or so, we've accumulated quite some mid-high level runes, and this, imho, proves beyond a shadow of a doubt, that this is a lot more profitable and rewarding, than those 8k hell countess runs that we've planned.

Although its a lot more profitable than Countess runs, its still gonna take you guys a lot of time to get 3 Lo's together. Of course you will want another three for Grief. With three full rushes you still only have Vex.

I know HF rushing is much faster, I've done it myself when i played on BNet :)

I also plan to do hellforge rushing, but after 8k countess runs that Lo will be much more valuable to me than an enigma cubed up from HF rushes.
I just wanna get my HC septavirate started up before i begin the D2 moral debauchery

;) .I don't appreciate HF rushing, but, that's only me. Good luck with your quest................. getting 3 LO!! whoa, good luck again vega, you're going to need it, I can't imagine myself playing from normal to hell just to get runes (can you say boring?) And what's wrong of playing 1.09? I still play that version :)

Interesting, and a bit disturbing...

So if someone feels that HF rushing is cheating, their input is of less value than yours? I've always been of the opinion, both personal and that of moderator, that all input to threads is valuable - assuming no forum rules are broken of course. IMO, strong societies, counties, neighborhoods, and even forum communities are built on the premise that all opinions are valuable, even necessary for balance (again assuming they fall within "the rules" of the body).

Please don't turn this forum into a place where groupthink prevails. If someone thinks HF rushing is cheating, they may say so - in this thread or any other. If somone wants to criticise this method, they may. If this somehow "hurts" you or anyone else, you need to rethink your own stance, not theirs.

Back to your regularly scheduled cheesy :teeth: thread...
 
AlterEgo, my friend, for some reason it seems to, that you more often than not, actually try, whether knowingly or not, to cause some controversy.

I've noticed it lastly in a comment of yours to Humphrey that was quite edgy and tad offesive, as in to push his buttons, and with all due respect sir, I can feel the same now.

I know some people on the SPF don't see HF rushing the way I do. I know that Shags is one of them, and look at his comment. He ain't doing so because I "shut him up", but because he's already been through this, and remembers what happened last time I said he considers it cheating. I totally respect his opinion, and totally disagree with it at the same time. Does the fact that I ask people not to turn this into yet another HF rushing legitimacy thread, make me someone who tries to shut people's opinions up, or someone who is trying to share his gaming experience with his fellow forumites, while trying not to turn this into something ugly?

Come on man, I would expect someone in your position to at least TRY not to stir things up, which is all I've tried to do.

Nothing personal, and I do not wish to turn this into yet another AE vs. forum member endless debate. Let's keep this thread for my team's updates on our rune cubing, and that is all.
 
My thoughts and opinons:

AE: I believe he was just trying to keep down the amount of discussion of legitness instead. That way the thread doesn't get OT. Calling someone a cheater is as good as flaming them, now having people discuss stuff in an appropriate thread, cool, but this is just a thread to update on how well him and his friends are comming along in their progress. I would hate to see posts in my pat/mat threads flaming me for using RWM/RRM.

Final note: He dosn't say DO NOT POST ABOUT CHEATING, mearly please do not.

Good points, all. I guess I should have begun my post with, "as this thread has been reported to me by three people, I feel I should respond". The fact that they reported it to me and didn't say anything here was evidence enough to me that their voices were surpressed (albeit voluntarily).

It's not about me - I have no problem with HF rushing at all. Just doin' my job.
 
As Tode has kindly made it clearer, let me say this again: all I meant was let's keep this civilized and try to talk about rune drop chances, progredss towards 3 Lo's, and the difficulties/funny stuff that me, DX and aman encounter during our quest, such as aman, being a good kamikaze that he usually is in any MP game, got the rule of "run to the boss, die, lay there and look pretty" :lol:

In any case, people who've reported this are seen as quite strange in my eyes, as what is there to report? I thought reporting was for breaking the forum rules, which I clearly did not do, nor do I intend on doing.

But... to each their own. If that's what makes 'em happy.

Sorry couldn't be apart of the last rush but there was a misunderstanding with the timezones ;) .

Yes it will be hard to get 3 Lo's but in the end it will be worth it.
 
Fir Da record... it twasn't me that reported dis thread. And for those that note that "it twasn't" is redundant... bite me.
 
I would like to point out that in seven hours you three have found more rune value than I have in all the years I've played. I hope this shows you why we consider this "play style" a bit exploitive. Nothing that my playstyle (sp only) can do can compare. There is a reason Bliz made the runes hard to come by. It gives us that "jackpot!" feeling every once and a while when a Um or something drops. If you want to give that feeling up... great. But don't come here and spout that D2 has gotten boring.
 
I don't understan why people would report this thread. I by NO means support HF rushing, as it's cheesy (but maybe not cheating, but we have argued about this before).

I dont' see Vega breaking any forum rules, so, if people get mad becasue "Vega didn't let me post that HF is 1337 haxxor and is saying that he doesn't care about our opinion!!!!"............... :rolleyes:

HF rushing is cheesy for you? fine, don't even look in this thread, nobody is forcing you to look (HF rushing is cheesy for me, but I want to see is getting 3 LO is even possible without seeing Aman dying too much and vega/dx getting bored of seeing hel runes from hell hellforge :lol: )

You've got NO IDEA how much fun it is to see that HEL rune dropping from a hell hellfroge :p

You'd think that you'd have a good chance with 20% of an IST and up, but more often than not, you get a shiny new LUM to the colletcion :lol:
