@Rizzo and Ryon: setting your file to "read only" is cheating in any version, and unsavory regardless of where it happens. Ugh.
Did you not read my post? I advice you to read it again. Otherwise, here's a quote from it:

Besides the obvious cheats (read-only)
Where in this line do I say that read-only is NOT a cheat?

OFrom what RTB says about item quality not being pre-specified, getting set jewelry from the recipe would occur at the same ratio as drops with no MF. My guess is that set amulets pop once in 80 tries, rares once in 120 or so, and uniques 1/1000. That could be far off... RTB? Care to shed a little light on the relative frequencies?
The 1.07 base itemratios are 1/1000 for unique, 1/200 for rare, 1/125 for set, and 1/30 (for amulets/rings/etc 1/1), it would make sense to use these, possibly with a modification for the chance if the Ilvl is higher. Imagine a 1.07 Saracen's Chance with 36% extra resist all.

Will... i'm a 1.07 player who did not aware of those glitch except the -w and -Act5 command, but i think is not wise to use any cheats...
Rizzo: i always like your style of turning an almost-go-into-flame thread into a peace one..

On the contrary, I assume that he has ATMA, same as I do. I've been playing a HC barb who needs all the help he can get, so all gems get picked up and kept in a separate stash. For the record, we are talking about a couple hundred pgems to run the prismatic recipe (6 pgems per turn) even 30-odd times. That's 600+ flawless gems or thereabouts minus a few for shrines and hellforge.
*starts thinking about how many flawless gems we must have combined* Dang I spend too much time on this game.... even discounting the 43 skulls in there we have over 350 and I know that goltar went through and used a bunch up on charm re-rolling a little bit ago.

Though from the numbers it looks like set amys are much more likly then a rare, why is that?

There is no doubt you were calling it cheating. But at first read, it seemed you then went on to say the equivalent of, "who cares, it's just 1.07". As if cheating were somehow more acceptable because few people play this version.

Obviously I was mistaken in interpreting it this way. Apologies for the confusion. I will try not to let it happen again.

I'm not sure what you are saying (best to admit this up front and avoid further problems). What version are you talking about? Charm re-rolling in 1.07 is pointless.

As for having "over 350" flawless, fine. Did you amass that quantity by level 46? While playing 1.07? More info please.

Now, let's suppose that instead of flawless those were all Perfect gems, none of them were skulls, and they all happen to occur in exactly the same ratio so that there are 6 for each prismatic amulet attempt with none left over, plus I'll donate an imaginary extra 10 pgems to make it an even 360.

That would be 60 rolls with the prismatic amulet recipe. According to the numbers, that would give a 50/50 chance of rolling one set amulet. Yet, we have seen someone with at least 3 set amulets and a rare. I still think this needs explaining, but if nobody else does, that's fine. Just wanted to know what was going on, is all.

The reason for this could be similar to the high rune drops.

I simply love threads that give us advice on how to cheat (read-only files that allow repetitive actions). I advise you think clearly about any future exploits you wish to share.

The game must be getting increasingly boring for many IMO...
