Hi Wade,
Sorry about that, I don’t know how your email got to me. I am the Mac email rep here at Blizzard, lol. I see that you have had a couple of different responses, are you still having the issue? If you are I can see if I can find some info relevant to your System. Let me know.

Hello Wade,
I think we'd best back up your saves and reinstall D2.
Before you start the install process, check your permissions and check your hard drive's directory to make sure everything is in running order.
Please use the steps below to repair file permission settings on the hard drive.
1. Navigate to /Applications/Utilities/ and open Disk Utility
2. Select the hard drive the game is installed on
3. Select the First Aid option
4. Click on the Repair Disk Permissions button
Repair Directory Procedure:
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Power up holding Cmd (Apple) +s until you get a black screen with white type
3. At the cursor please type the following: /sbin/fsck -f -y and press return
*NOTE - Please be aware that some of the procedures will look like they are frozen, but are actually taking a long time i.e. checking hierarchy
4. If anything had to be repaired, repeat step 3. Do this until it says "The Volume appears to be OK."
5. Once things are repaired type exit and press return
6. Computer will boot into Mac OS
Please use the following steps to uninstall the game:
1) How to remove the Diablo II folder:
* Find the Diablo II folder on your hard drive and open it.
* Copy or move the Save folder to the desktop.
* Delete the Diablo II folder.
2) How to remove the preferences files for the game and battle.net:
* If you are using Mac OS X, open the ~/Library/Preferences folder using the Finder's ?Go To Folder? option.
* If you are using Mac OS 9.2.2 or earlier open the System folder and then open the Preferences folder.
* Find all the files in the Preferences folder which contain the words "Diablo II", "BNUpdate", "Blizzard", or "Battle.net" and delete those files.
3) Run the installer for Diablo II.
4) If you have Lord of Destruction, install it now.
5) Finally, download and use the most recent patch at
http://www.blizzard.com/patches

Greetings Wade,
Issues with Diablo II can be caused by several things. Below you will find some steps that fix some of the more common issues players face. As always, please patch the game first. The patch includes several fixes that may correct this type of error. You can patch the game by connecting to Battle.net for the auto-patch or you can download and run the stand-alone patch from the Diablo II Patch Page at
http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/20758. If the patch does not correct the problem, please reinstall the game per the instructions below.
First, uninstall Diablo II. Also, uninstall any CD-ROM drive emulation tools that may be installed. i.e. Daemon Tools, Virtual Drive, CloneCD, etc. Disabling these programs may not work; they must be uninstalled completely.
We have received reports of a program named "New.net Application" that could cause errors. Check your Add/Remove Programs Control Panel for this program and remove it, if present.
Now, run a thorough scandisk and defrag of your hard drive(s). You will probably find it helpful to disable your screen saver and power management features before you scandisk or defrag. Sometimes Windows will restart the defragmentation and/or scandisk if your screen saver or power management kicks in. The following webpage has instructions on how to complete this:
http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/21144.
Now reinstall Diablo II and download and install the latest Diablo II patch from
http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/20758.
If you are still encountering problems please test the game after trying each of the steps below. Each solution listed has been reported to solve these problems for other customers.
1. Make sure the latest video drivers you are using are compatible with the latest version of DirectX or you could experience video problems. Contact your video card manufacturer to ensure compatibility if you cannot find the information on the page you downloaded your video drivers from. Make sure you have the latest version of DirectX from:
http://www.microsoft.com/directx
2. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your Video and Sound cards. You'll want to check with your computer manufacturer or the Video/Sound card manufacturer's website for the current drivers that match the model of card you have in your system. A list of manufacturers with contact information can be found at
http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/21124.
3. Download and install the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard. Check the motherboard manufacturer's website for updated chipset drivers, first. If you can't find updated drivers at the manufacturer's website, the next two most common locations for chipset drivers are
http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2 and
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/
4. Before starting the game, make sure there are no other programs running in the background. Instructions for how to shutdown all background applications can be found at
http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/21052.
5. Our games run in 640 x 480 with 256 colors. Try setting your desktop to this resolution before starting the game. Windows XP users may find they cannot set this resolution, so they can skip this step.
6. Make sure all Power Management settings are disabled or turned off. If you have a screen saver, set it to "None" before playing the game.
7. Windows 95/98/Me only - Run the System File Checker to scan for damaged or missing files in Windows by clicking on Start, go to Run and type "sfc" without the quotes. Follow the prompts to check the integrity of your files.
8. The following settings may help to limit the chances of CD read errors during installation.
Windows 95/98/Me: You can find special steps for optimizing your CD-ROM settings on the Microsoft website:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/184410.
You may also want to try the following steps as outlined on the Blizzard Support website:
http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/21143.
9. Make sure your version of Windows has all the latest updates by checking
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/.
Additional game performance info can be found at
http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/20761.
If your system is overclocked it may be producing too much heat, which will adversely affect program performance. If the system is producing high amounts of heat but is not overclocked, we would suggest you add a fan to your system to help distribute heat in the case.
If you continue to have problems, we would appreciate more information about your computer hardware and drivers. Please email us the requested information below.
Please attach any d2xxxxxx.txt files you find in the Diablo II directory to your reply along with two files, your dxdiag.txt and msinfo.txt, for further diagnosis.
To obtain the systems diagnostic files, follow the instructions below:
Important Note: Please reboot your system prior to creating the dxdiag and msinfo files.
1. Click on Start.
2. Click on Run.
3. Type in DXDIAG and press Enter or click OK, this will open the DirectX diagnostic tool. Run the DirectDraw, Direct3D and DirectSound tests found under the Display and Sound tabs before creating the dxdiag.txt file.
4. Click on the Save All Information Button (save this file to your windows desktop and name it dxdiag).
5. Click on the More Help tab and open the Microsoft system information tool (MSInfo).
6. Click on File and choose Export (save this file to your windows desktop as a text file and name it MSInfo). Please make sure to save this file as a .txt file and NOT as a .nfo file.
7. Attach the dxdiag.txt and msinfo.txt files to a reply to this email.
*Special MSinfo Instructions for Windows 2000 users:
1. Create your dxdiag.txt file as explained above
2. Now choose the More Help tab
3. Click the MSInfo button
4. Important! - Be sure to highlight the System Information in the top left
5. Go to the Action menu, choose All Tasks, Save As Text File
6. Save the file to your Desktop and name the file msinfo.txt.
7. Attach this msinfo.txt file and the dxdiag.txt file to your reply email.
Some email programs limit the amount of attachments you can send. If possible please archive the files you are sending in Zip format. This will compile all of the files into a single archive which can make it easier to email.
