TPPK letter/e-mail writing attempt....

TPPK only exists in Public Games. And it may work it's way into a few private games, only if you are foolish enough to hand out passwords in public. Here...

Example Fun Story: During my SC PKing trial run, I joined a game called Rush Me 4 Forge. I sat there until the guy got someone to rush him. They made a private game and guess who else crashed the party? Yep, good ol' Conner joined to ruin the fun. "I need Diablo and Ancients, and I'll help until then."

"Cat 2 Please!!!", says the rushee. Both stand around tp WP, I run back to town, skip the WP and POW, kill rusher and rushee dead. "WTF ARE YOU DOING?!"

Well, helping of course. Myself that is. As I camp their corpses and steal their gold. Totally ruined the guy's rush.

OK, bad story. Because it's out in public, Blizz will look at you funny because you represent 5% of the players in the game. And of that 5%, maybe 80% actually play in public. Better start writing now, maybe by next Christmas they'll address it.

Phantom, did you not read my post? I said botting added to lines... yes the dupe is the cause of 1,000+ but botting still adds more and last season it was basically the sole cause of long lines. The dupe is worse than botting, but you can't deny that botting lengthens lines.

remember before the ladder, when duping and botting was everywhere, and the lines (sometiems) were like 10,000-20,000+?

Wow, a seemingly worthwile thread that spiraled into "nobody gives a shiet and those who do are too busy arguing with those who dont" Can we please just get on with the structure of the letter? I'd be glad to send or even help compose it.

"I always wanted to fight a great battle against overwhelming odds"

Some alien dude from some reasonably ok Scifi battle flick......forget title.....

I think adding in that the lack of attacking these problems is making us feel unconfident getting any future Blizzard releases.

Rather diheartening to see you post somehting like this, but I can see how you would since many of your newer buddies are the one botting and TPPKing.

I never like PK all that much but frankly it is disgusting seeing some of the BtK people go to ****, or go to live with **** like they have.
my "new" buddies have nothing to do with this.. me and my "new" buddies has brought a legit CDC into a bunch of other games. Savage Eden and PristonTale are just 2 examples. However, i care little(as a matter of fact, i dont give a fsck) for this game. Diablo 2 is dead for me, and has been for a very long time.

i guess you managed to miss the "i never liked it" part? im not biased, nor was i ever.. i badmouthed a certain cdc member last week or so, for all the **** he did/does while beeing in BM, and no, i wont mention who.. i never approved of tppk, botting however i never really cared that much about, seeing as it wasnt as malicious as tppking is/was.

and the fact that i wore a BtK tag didnt mean that i hated hacks, it merely meant that i had chosen not to use them.

OK ... a few quick Samples:

Dear Sirs,

We, the loyal players of Diablo, would like to take this opportunity to respectfully request an end to the tppking that is rampant on the realms. It has become a very serious issue especially in the hardcore community and we feel it should be addressed.

Thank You

Dear Lords and Masters,

Long have I toiled in the land of Sanctuary, as you commanded me in the microwaves which filter through my protective tinfoil hat, and yet you do allow the evils of hacks dupes and bugs to invade this fair world for which I fight.
No longer will I be silent! My voice shall be heard (yes I know about the listening devices you had hidden down here in mom's basement while I was out watching ROTK)!!!! You must stop the tppks from working or I will take my Star Wars Light Sabre out of the original packaging and beat you about the head and shoulders with it until it turns into a collector's item for a completely different reason!!!!! I can do it too!!!! Don't MAKE me put down my twinkie!!!!!!

Thank you and Have a Nice Day

=========================================
Dear Sirs/Madams of Blizzard, Inc.

I am writing to you today to respectfully request that you take action to remedy a situation that is causing the quality of your Diablo 2 servers to deteriorate and cause a game play environment that is unfair and lacking the quality which you claim to provide to the consumers of your product.

As you are probably aware, through the Battle.net forums and other Diablo 2 related forums as well as your tech support and abuse reporting devices, TPPK scripts, bots, Maphack, duping schemes and other third-party programs have become ubiquitous in use on all of the Diablo 2 realms. This has caused an unfair advantage to the users of those hacks, most especially in the current ladder race to which a prize has been made available by your company.

This message is a result of legitimate users of your products frustration at the perceived lack of action towards those who would undermine the quality of your products, services and the quality of the gaming experience you are providing. We have all, at one point in time, taken in-game screen shots of hack users and cheaters, submitted them to the facilities which you have provided to address those issues only to see the same accounts and characters continue to plague the legitimate consumers of your products.

Blizzard, Inc. we challenge you to step up to the plate and address the rampant hacking issues that have become endemic on your Diablo 2 realms.

We who have demonstrated our support and commitment to your products are counting on you to pull through to provide a timely solution to this problem.

Sincerely,

========================================

Now, for this to work even better, I would recommend that anyone who has contacts with the gaming press and media take the time to call those contact and let them know that there's a grass roots protest going on. I'll bet ya dollars to donuts that any kind of press coverage that might put them in a bad light will make them pay attention.

Dude, that rocks. If I was playing I'd PK you, legitly. But seriously, if I could slip this to Jon Stewart, I would.

Maybe we could get 1000 people to drop down in the streets in front of their offices like in the "Truth" commercials. Hold up signs saying "TPPK kills 100 people each day, yet Blizzard claims its not addictive or dangerous."

Thanks Cyr. One can only hope that it makes a difference however small.
I'm researching all the possible places we can send such a message to. I haven't been on the bnet forums much. Does anyone know which forum a message like this would have the most possible impact?

I'll post addies and urls resulting from my research in this thread. Meanwhile, if anyone else has suggestions and other messages, I would encourage you to post them as well.

Cheers! :buddies:

maybe it could make a difference -- about a year and a half ago, i started reporting ebay auctions that featured hacked//duped items (iths, 08 valors, etc) telling the ebay reps that these people were selling counterfeit items and they were in fact selling items that were NOT their property but wre the property of blizzard entertainment

a few others joined in to report these auctions -- result.......

some of the auctions were taken down, and nowadays many of the d2 ebay listings have a disclaimer about the items being the proplerty of blizzard entertainment

we ARE customers -- if enough of us complain, they simply cannot ignore us

I agree. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, so to speak. They're getting close to releasing WoW. If we can raise questions about their technical ability to control the quality of their gaming environments at this critical time, then we stand a better chance of them paying attention to the needs of their customer base. Sure, WoW is a subscription based service but, I would bet that they'll be more motivated because of that. They'll have no choice but to answer issues which are going to challenge the marketing strategy for an upcoming game that they've heavily invested in.

Just thinking out loud... Any one else have thoughts about this?
